That would be great if that's what everyone involved wants. We also have to remember this is before everything became public knowledge (according to the article) too so that might have an affect on how they were acting with/towards each other.

we had sort of figured that out on this thread, though .. hadn't we? LOL ..

they were filming season 5 before the season 4 cliffhanger finale, so there was little doubt they'd be back.... in spite of TLC's clever edits.

what I wonder is how they'll incorporate the marital issues in the shows they haven't filmed yet.

the California trip was after the first set of tabloid pictures, but before the second set .. Kate may not have been fully aware of things yet.

yes. there were at least 4 shows filmed (that I'm aware of) before the recent media frenzy.

~ a trip to Florida in early March... a DISer saw Jon at a local bakery, and it was later confirmed he was in Florida to present an award. A film crew was with them.

~ Jon & Kate's 100th episode with Emeril

~ Kate's trip to California. That was listed in the speaking schedule on the other thread ... mid-April, I think?

~ The birthday trip to Charm City Cakes in late March

I am wearing the dress that she had on at the barbq at the end of the show right now. So cute!
25.00 on sale at the Loft.. I bought all three colors. Now at full price 49.50 I wouldnt have done it, but everything in the Loft goes on sale all the time. I dont think Ive ever paid full price for anything there, unless I was just desperate. If ya wait a cpl of days its on sale lol.

Well, that kind of makes me ill...they would have glossed over all their marital problems for the sake of the show, to be able to continue. I bet they (TLC, J&K) were pretty ticked then when the pics of Jon surfaced and everything started to crumble. The California trip definitely seems to have filmed before the huge scandal hit. Poor little Mady sitting their between them and probably oblivious that J&K are just "acting" like their marriage is good for the camera.

I remember too Madge, when you were saying that they were already filming season 5 before the big season 4 finale. Is everything about the ratings? It sure seems like it. Now they can spin this scandal (which will most likely end sadly in divorce) and reach a new demographic...divorced parents and single moms. Do J&K really care so little about each other to have come to this point? Sad, sad sad.

It was filmed either the weekend after mother's day, or the weekend after that. The kids birthdays actually was on mother's day, but they waited to have the party until later because Kate spent mother's day at the spa .. happy 5th birthday...after all you only turn 5 once...hmmm....

Do you think really think a small channel like TLC can afford to pay all these familes tons and tons of money and buy them all million dollar homes, I also know that when the Roloff redid there house they paid for it themselves. Matt and Amy had numerous talks about the cost. In fact on one show they were talking about taking out a loan to help pay for the cost.

TLC is a little channel under a much bigger umbrella, it is a Discovery Channel network, along with a lot of others including Animal Planet. Lots and lots of money there.

I have some thoughts but they will have to wait until tomorrow, to many pages to get caught up on.

I just watched the season premier again...not sure why, but watching the party I was wondering how they handled the inviting of the friends, no way they expected everyone to bring six gifts, but I saw people carrying multiple gift bags. And are the sextuplets all in the same class at school? Kate said she invited their teacher, singular. I'm surprised, you would think they might be split into at least 2 different classes?

Kate has been working on the television show Jon and Kate Plus 8 for 2 years ... and began promoting themselves on the public speaking circuit in early 2007:

In addition to the show and public speaking, Kate was a spokesperson for P&G and lunchbox campaigns in 2008. She also co-authored a book, and authored another.

She didn't "just" (recently) start working.

I don't get all of the anger about Kate working. She is trying to earn money for her family, what is the problem with that? Jon doesn't work, so now she does. Doesn't every family need someone who earns money?

Exactly!....This discussion sometimes gets dangerously close to the whole SAHM/ working mom debate....and there is no right or wrong answer in that issue.
I myself am a SAHM but I would fight for the right for every woman to work outside the home if they want to...Sometimes I think this thread is going back to the dark ages.
So Kate works "away"....So What!!!!.....So do many many mothers....it doesn't mean the kids are damaged.
Kate knows her time might not last...she is making the money whilst she can...in 5 or 10 years noone will remember who she was.

And my DH works away monday to friday.....So i suppose we better save up for the councilling the kids will need...(to whoever said that was wrong)

And guess what.....He works away so we can all have a better life...A better lhouse...Disney trips..(we live in the uk so they cost a lot)...private schools for the kids....But thats OUR choice.....

But dh could get a lower paid job closer to home...we could live in a shack...never take the kids anywhere...no disney EVER....pull them out of the schools they love...and all live in cramped..rough area...happily together.
Well together after 7pm anyway...oh but I'd have to work as well...Oh well....yes I can see DH moving closer home to work would be so much better.

This “contest” is sick and stupid. I love Extra — but this makes me ill. I don’t want to hear about people being mean to their spouses and/or kids. Why give that air time? Why would we celebrate that in any way, or consider it something to laugh or brag about? If you think you may be the meanest mom in America go to a counselor before you ruin your family’s life. Don’t brag about it in this ill-conceived “competition.” How would we feel if there was a competition asking men to come forward as the “meanest husband” or “meanest dad” in America? I have no problem with Kate working or any other parent. I have said before that due to the profession that some chose they have to travel quite a bit. Doesn't make them bad parents. I guess that no one will be buying books anymore because at some point the author would have had to leave their family inorder to promote the book. And that seems to be a no-no to some.
