It's just how you view people, Jodi seemed nice, but just a bit too nice to me somehow. I can't relate to people that are so calm and sweet all the time. Probably because they are the complete opposite of me! I sometimes felt it was all a show for the cameras. I can relate a bit more to Kate (not much!), but a bit, as sometimes I'm not always 'perfect' in how I relate to my DH or my kids.

Your right, I can't relate to Kate that much at all. In the beginning I thought I could that is why I watched the show. It is true I do relate to Jodi a lot, baking with my kids, talking in a calm voice, being nice to my husband....

I would absolutely take the money, but has it ever been proven that any was offered (in terms of the Kate-Said-No theory)? Not written on the internet, not assumed by bloggers, but actually proven?

In the new interview up on Radar Online they say that Kate said no. Now if they are lying I expect Kate to sue for slander.

In the new interview up on Radar Online they say that Kate said no. Now if they are lying I expect Kate to sue for slander.

I bake with my kids, I talk with a calm voice (most of the time!), I'm nice to my husband (most of the time!) - I still don't relate that much to Jodi. To each their own...

And we're back to the 'she said/they said' situation..... Except we've not really heard from Kate or Jon about it (unless I've missed it?) .........And Uncle Kevin and Aunt Jodi are the type of people who will always tell the truth and not try to spin things to show them in the best light (when they're not giving interviews for money dissing a relative and the mother of children they claim to love...)

I don't think that would be a reason you could sue for slander/libel. I think saying Kate said no, if it wasn't true it would have to actually harm Kate's repuation that Jodi is saying she said it if she didn't. I don't see how that harms Kate, having Jodi say she didn't want her to be paid. I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on a reality show but I thought slander had to hurt someone's reputation.
Besides, I happen to think, if Jodi was fine not getting regular contract pay, what difference does it make that Kate said no? If Jodi didn't care if she was being paid, why did she decide to no longer talk with them. Why not stay around for the sake of the kids, if she was so very concerned about them? And Jodi said someone told her that in private (one of the camera men?), not that an official TLC told her, didn't she?

Has anyone found out anything besides Jodi saying it, about the camera people refusing to work for J & K because of what was going on there?

Let's just say I was in the same situation as Kevin and Jodi and I was on the show and keeping the kids for free that would be great with me. If I knew that the show wanted to pay me some money to film at my house then great, who doesn't need a little extra cash. Ok, so I find out that my sister does not want me to be paid, I think I would be upset also. I would not be taking anything away from her. I guess I just don't get the big problem is. I would want my family to be paid if it were the other way around just to help them out.

It sounds like they got some. Kevin said it wasn't much, just $3300 to put the lights in their house. I don't know how many times the kids were at her house, so how much per babysit time that was. If they showed us the kids at her house say, 4 times, that would be $800 per visit, 8 times, that would be over $400 each time. If it was 16 times, that would be $200 each time. Not bad babysitting money.

I don't know if the money was apart from Kate's, or really at this point, I have no idea if there was ever an offer. But Jodi makes it very clear this is about the kids, and she wants the show to stop. Would she be saying the same if she got a contract and was getting paid? Why would it have been OK, if Kate let her get a contract. I don't know, but I suspect if she was getting some of the loot, there would be no video that we are all watching.

Well, we know Jodi watched the kids every Friday from 9-1. She also watched them a long weekend (4-5 days I think) while Jon got his hair plugs. She watched them during the "special days" of the girls. They also showed a few other times when Kate had appointments and such.

scratch the spiritual reference (angel vs. devil) ... I don't think she's as pure as the driven snow, nor do I think she's as awful as all that. I'd say Jodi just adds another layer of flavor to the mix ...

I just watched the garage show, where Kevin came over and helped Jon put up shelves. Jodi was talking about how they may snip at each other (K & J), but then it's over and they are back to loving each other. It's just what they do.

Gee, she had no problem with the way the show was then. Oh, but that was before they started to have lots of placements, money, trips, a new house etc. And before Jodi thought being under contract to get more money (than the little bit they were getting paid to have lights in their house) might be nice.

I have to say that it's nice having a big order here, that I have to babysit while it prints and I can read all of this.

Actually if you listened to the radaronline interview, Kevin was the one who found out that TLC was trying to work out a contract for Jodi to be compensated and that they (TLC) were working on getting Kate to agree. Kevin then got upset, walked down the street to Kate's and that is when she exploded and said that nobody would make money off their kids, we're done. So it was Kevin who was upset that Kate would be so unwilling for Jodi to be paid and then even more upset at Kate's reaction when he talked to her about it.

not at all.

this thread has cycled through many phases. sometimes the non-fans outweigh the fans .. sometimes people just have discussions with no real like or dislike for Kate. It just depends on the day of the week.

I'm usually in the debate/not a fan camp, but I have to admit .. it's really hard for me to keep up with what's going on in this thread lately. It's moving so fast, there's lots of new faces (which isn't bad), and it seems like everyone is saying the same thing at the same time. I'm a little overwhelmed.

There are some people on the thread that will defend everything that Kate does, no matter what. Most of the people on the thread see the good and bad. And then there are some that became disillusioned by the show and just aren't buying it anymore.

Like Madge said, it really depends on the day.
