Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

I have not seen Kate slap Jon out of anger. It has always been when they have been playful. If she b!tch slapped him, then yes, I would say she is being abusive. But that is not what I have seen in the show. Every now and then my DH smacks me on the butt (not hard) and it is not out of anger, it is being playful. Have my kids seen him do it, I'm sure they have since my son one day walked up to me said hi and smacked me on the butt. We are just a family who smacks butts, not as punishment but the way athletes do. I certainly do not considered my self or my kids abused.

I laughed so hard my eyes watered! "We're just a family who smacks butts." Love it!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So... how long ago were those uncomfortable and forced vow renewals?

I have to admit, a tiny part of me thought about the old adage, "there's no such thing as bad publicity." It couldn't have been done on purpose, could it?

But then again, it must not have. If Jon & Kate split up, isn't that the end of the "the show is our life, our life is the show" and the countless speaking engagements and book signings? Doesn't this totally negate the validity of their "message?" Or maybe it can be spun in a way that shows that their marriage went through hard times, but they gpt through it.

It will make their interviews all that much more uncomfortable to watch in Season 5.

I missed where they denied having a nanny. What happened to the Vietnamese nanny they've mentioned?

I don't remember which show it was, but Jon and Kate said they have a helper that they wouldn't call a nanny. someone else here will remember when it was. it was towards the end of this season, I think

About Jon's statement...duh! I'm sure he knows better. Looks like he's trying to shake his "character," only he's really the father of eight kids and a husband. I wonder if people still think Kate's the bad parent. Anyone see anyone condoning Jon's behavior because he's married to Kate (I don't read the anti or pro blogs)? I don't even really think Jon's a bad parent for this, but I do think he's a stupid man.

condoning? not exactly. not really at all, actually. I have only skimmed so far, but they're pretty harsh on what Jon has done from what I can tell. And even harsher on the people that seem to be commenting on some of these articles .. some of the true sheeple are in rare form, or the trolls have come out to play. (probably both)

I'm not sure I agree with you on the bad parent thing. If this is as the article says it is .. Jon's wife is literally across the country and he decides to go out drinking at 11:00pm? What is he, 21? That's what college kids do. He's a parent. His wife is out of town on business. It's not acceptable (to me) for him to be out on the town when he's the only parent in town. What if there was an emergency with one of the kids?

Or even more significant .. what if he was drinking and driving? Bad parenting? Maybe not. Horrible example? Danger to others? Absolutely.

The pity party is over. Jon and Kate are reaping what they've sown. Jon Gosselin needs to get over himself and start acting like an adult.

And, Madge, since you brought it up...just for old times' sake:

last August. 8 months, more or less.

I have to admit, a tiny part of me thought about the old adage, "there's no such thing as bad publicity." It couldn't have been done on purpose, could it?
OMG. I hope not. Why on earth would they put themselves in this light? Kate the Shrew and Jon the Party Boy? I can't imagine Zondervan (a Christian book publisher) is thrilled with this alleged cheating.

I think the only way they're going to be able to spin this as going through hard times and getting through it is if they take a break and refocus. I don't know that people will buy into this if they keep on as though nothing's wrong.

It will make their interviews all that much more uncomfortable to watch in Season 5.

I wonder how far they're into season 5. If the trip to Florida back in March was part of it, then that was right around the time that the first incident hit the tabloids .. and if they're filming now? wow. things were already tense enough at the end of last season.

The publicist in me (since I didn't actually get a job with that degree I worked so hard to earn) thought the Jodi blog, the intentional ignoring of the unanswered questions on the "answers" shows and even the February fiasco could have definitely been stunts, but this is just stupid. Now, I hadn't thought about that angle of "look what our marriage survived," but I don't think that's worth it at the expense of the messages the kids are getting. If they were old enough to sit down with and say "You might hear bad things about mommy and daddy, but they are all pretend...yada yada yada," maaaaaybe, but I don't think an almost five year old can quite comprehend that. Time will tell, I suppose.

Seriously, I am laughing so hard right now because that is sooooo funny! Tag fairy, come out come out wherever you are!!:lmao:

Oooh! That would be my first hit by the tag fairy! I didn't realize it was that funny, but we do just smack and pinch butts! It's always done in good fun!

Yup, I have to agree with you Madge!:upsidedow

I was wondering the same thing about him driving. If the story is true, he was very tipsy. Another good point you made too, what if there was some kind of emergency with the kids and Kate is across the country and he's out at the bar? I think his behavior was totally unacceptable. Geez, is anyone looking out for these kids? They really deserve better care and I mean from their parents, not the non-nanny or whatever they call her.

I'm trying to be fair here too. When I read what Jon did I imagined myself in that position if my DH had done the same thing. Then I imagined my 3 little girls and how much we love them. They deserve the best that both my husband and I can give them. I really believe that. So do the Gosselin kids. I really hope J&K can pull themselves together for them. Their kids are more important than a show, book signings, speaking engagements or anything. I actually hope TLC pulls the plug so they can re-focus and appreciate the beautiful family they have. Money and fame aren't everything.

At this point (if season 5 continues), I really wonder about their contracts. What do they stand to lose if they pull out now? Yes, money isn't everything, but in this world, it's a whole lot. Would they lose the house, hired help, car(s)? If they lost that, I wonder if they have the finances to continue providing for a family of ten.

Someone mentioned Zondervan. Do you think Jon is also under contract with them? Kate has been doing the tours, mostly, and she hasn't been directly involved in any (real) scandal. Would they have a say about his behavior? Well, I mean no one can really tell him what to do or not do on his own time, but you know what I mean.

Madge, do you think you can get to Kate's next tour stop, please? Thanks!

I'm here, OhMari! Wow, look what I almost missed!!!!!
I know, I thought this thread, was just about dead.

I'm sure TLC will show what they have, and they will probably do a big birthday party for the tups in May.

I tried to find one of the links, where it said, Jon and a buddy have been going to the bar all week. They said he comes at 11:00, leaves and comes back at 2:00 a.m. I'm sure Jon thinks just because he addressed it once, everyone should let it go. But wait till tv picks up the story, it's only in print now, I'm betting by tomorrow every tv tabloid show will have it.

Entertainment Tonight had a blurb about it on tonight.

It's already on AOL's front page. I'm sure tomorrow it will be all over the TV entertainment shows.

I know that the show is important. It's the foundation that the franchise is built on, I think. I think without it, there's not much chance of further earnings. They haven't been around long enough. I always thought the big money was in the books and speaking engagements. which, I guess revolve around the success of the show.

It's anyone's guess how involved Jon and Kate are with TLC, and what the contract says. There's the whole issue of Jon and Kate being producers in season 5. I'm not familiar with how TV works. How much does TLC cover for things when they're shooting at the house? (utilities, house cleaning, etc. )

I would hope that they've saved some money for the future -- surely they have. There's been talk of college funds. There has to be savings to tap into.

Someone mentioned Zondervan. Do you think Jon is also under contract with them? Kate has been doing the tours, mostly, and she hasn't been directly involved in any (real) scandal. Jon is listed as an author on the book. Does that somehow contractually connect him to Zondervan? Even if it doesn't, their mission statement is pretty clear:
http://www.zondervan.com/Cultures/en-US/Company/Facts/Our+Mission.htm?QueryStringSite=Zondervan

Now I know he's technically not one of their employees ... but still. It's a Christian label. Adultery isn't good, not to mention the drinking.

Madge, do you think you can get to Kate's next tour stop, please? Thanks!

I'll see what I can find out tomorrow! :upsidedow

I do not think that Kate will ever leave the show go, it is "Hers". But, after last season Jon could say do the show, but do it without me...and she would. She thrives on the visability in an odd way. I guess because it provides things her dh could never do alone.

Maybe that is his whole problem, he can not compete and wants the cameras gone. Gone so he can live, drink, party as a free spirit. I can just hear him saying to Kate you manage to run the show, you can do it without me. I can see the show wothout Jon...a brief, that Jon needs a break this season and we will be more focused on the kids growing and learning experiences.

You know, I wonder if it was one of those online chicks that understood how he was treated and she would worship him with loving affection, yadda yadda.
Just thinking out loud....as anything can be possible.

The man needs a job and a life, its like he is at the bottom of the well treding water and no way out.:surfweb:

That's really weird. Kind of lends itself to the "fake" theory, but it's still an odd thing to do.

I wonder why he hasn't gone to get a job if he feels like he needs one. They can afford to hire a sitter, nanny, helper, whatever while he works during the day since the kids are in school now. Once they hit first grade, all eight will be in school full days. Kate can harp on him to stay home, but if he's a grown man, and if he really wants a job, he can go get one. Unfortunately for their family (including him and Kate), it looks like he's taking the frat boy route to getting a life.

I'm not so sure about that ... I don't know that it sounds all that improbable to me. Check out the scene, see if it's worth coming back? I knew guys like that in high school, back in the day .. they thought their mere presence was gift to everyone. Here's the thing I found weird. Jon allegedly hates the celebrity, but it sure isn't keeping him from standing around outside in his cool car, drawing attention to himself. Immature, sophomoric behavior. Lame.

I don't think he really wants a job. Not really. I think he wants out of his marriage, and this is as good of an excuse as anything. For as much crap as Kate gets for contributing to this? Jon's the one at fault here. He's behaving like the spoiled, selfish guy that people (blog people) claimed he was before marrying Kate.

About this new car Jon has, I heard it's a 2-seater? So when did he get it, who paid for it and why would you get a 2 seater?

Selfishness.
But then again, car dealerships tend to give celebrity vehicles to drive for a fee that their car salesman pay.
I'm betting that is why Jon is using the excuse to show everyone his car. He has been driving vans the last 5 years and now he has a new toy to play with.

It is a 2-seater, which is not practical at all for a man with 8 kids. He could have found a nice car that has a back seat that still is sporty.

Since Jon hasn't held a job outside of the show since 2007, I guess the show. I really hope they are putting away money for all the kids since they have the show because of the kids.

Selfishness.

With the was dealerships are functioning right now, I doubt they gave him the car for free. I guess it is a possibility though.

I think Jon is showing off his car because he is an immature person. He's a "look what I got" type of person.
