Did you go to Target for Easter clearance? :rotfl: 'Cause that's what I'm about to do. :lmao:

I did! Our Target was so picked over last week, there wasn't much left at all!

I scrounged around and found one bag of regular Starburst jellybeans, and one package of Milky Way eggs. The rest of it was crap. I can wait until 90% off day ;)

back to the High Fructose Corn Syrup......I did google it and I was right about it not making you feel full.

Here's what google told me...

Besides overloading our bodies with empty calories, HFCS also limits Leptin secretion in the digestive system. Leptin is a hormone that signals the brain when you are full.

Therefore, if your brain never gets the message that you are full, you are likely to over-eat and ingest more calories that lead to weight gain.

Ours was ok. Got a Thomas the Tank Engine set of four trains, Disney Princess dress-up dolls, a few other Princess basket stuffers, a blanket, Starburst jellybeans (;)), M&Ms (I really want M&M cookies for some reason) and some non-Easter things. I bought a Hannah Montana Mix Max thing for $20. I'm going to try it out, and if it works it will be used for queue entertainment in September. :lmao: And, of course, I'll plaster it with Cars stickers, and DS will never know it was HM. :rolleyes1

That's what I'm going to do in about half an hour here. I'm hoping for some good finds. My firefighter boys here at work were staring at my empty candy jar this morning. I told them they'd have to wait until this afternoon when I bought some half off! :rotfl:

That's a GREAT idea about coving the HM thing with Cars stickers. I saw those too and was trying to devise a way to make it "boyish". I may have to borrow that idea from you!

I just got back! :rotfl:

Also went to CVS and Walgreens. :rolleyes1

I know we're OT....how did you do??? Our Target was totally picked over! I was hoping for some of the little lego things to use in DS4's birthday party bags this summer but I was only able to find one little bag....ugh. I'm going to hit Walmart tonight because I need to look for a couple of other things while I'm there. I'm also trying to save up for Target's toy clearance this summer! :rolleyes1

To get a back on topic - I did happen to look for the J&K mag to see how bad Jon's feet really were (yucky and I'm not a feet person) but I didn't see it at Target. I also need to set my DVD for the going green special coming up. I've seen a couple of ads for the special...

Just checking in to say "Howdy!" and I hope everyone had a happy holiday.

And ... it's 50% off Easter Candy Day! My favorite holiday!! :woohoo:

I thought it was a little strange to have Jon barefooted. I think barefooted kids are adorable, I really do .. nothing cuter. But I'm not sure about the adult thing. It's not a big deal, not even a little bit (I didn't buy the magazine, bring it home, and inspect it with a magnifying glass) but I did think it was a little strange to have him barefooted with dirty feet. :lmao:

Barefoot kids are absolutely adorable!:thumbsup2 I agree with you on the adult thing though. Barefoot adults are yucky. I sure wouldn't want my feet plastered across Ladies Home Journal!:lmao:

Maybe it's all subliminal...clean, pure, all dressed in white and they're "down to earth"! Get it, down to earth with dirt on their feet?

oh, I had a few thoughts about the all white ... although none of my thoughts included them being "down to earth" :rolleyes1

Maybe a little ot-but I was just watching "Oprah", and it was a show about single fathers.
There was a man named Larry shine who is a single father of 9 kids:thumbsup2. His wife died of cancer when his oldest was 2 1/2, so he has been a single dad since then. His kids range from 3-19. I think that would make a great show on TLC...Maybe not a weekly thing like John and Kate, but a couple episodes about his family.

I saw a commercial for J&K+8 Earth Day special, and a thought popped in to my head. How environmentally friendly is it to use paper plates for every meal like they do? I know that the dishes would really pile up for a big family, but it seems Kate would not want to use so much paper products.

Don't lie, Madge. You totally did. ;)

Explain that again...if his wife died when his oldest was two, how is there such a range in ages? Or were they not all her kids? Or am I completely missing something?

Target didn't have that much. I was really shocked when I saw how little they had. But I did manage to get a couple of 6-pack Reese's eggs and some Rolo's. Walgreens - peanut M&Ms but nothing at CVS. :)

I was thinking exactly the same thing. My sister was giving me a hard time about using paper plates on Christmas. Whenever I see the show and they use paperplates, I think "my sister would have a cow about this".

That's what I was thinking, too!

The kids were adopted. He adopted the kids from different countries because he said it was nearly impossible to adopt in America being a single father.

Sorry if I didnt explain that well. When the couple was married, they had one son together (biological son). Larry's wife died of cancer when their son was 2 1/2. After that, Larry decided to pursue adoption, and ended up with 8 adopted kids(HE Didn't adopt them all at once, over the course of years), and one biological son he had when he was married. He said being a single male it was hard to adopt in the USA, so he pursued out of the country adoption. His biological son is 19 now..The last child he adopted is now 3.
They showed a small glimpse into his life, doing laundry, cooking, doing the girls hair, matching outfits..all the normal stuff that the majority of mothers do. It was very ineresting..now that would be make a good TLC show.

I've thought the same thing about the paper plates ... they must go through a lot! The expense of it, as well as the trash it creates?

I wonder if they ever considered putting in (they may have) a commercial dishwasher? Maybe it's not a good idea, I don't know?
