How did we know that there was no bodyguard around her and her child?

we don't.

but in all fairness, most of the pictures of late show the bodyguard if he's around. it's (tabloid) newsworthy. None of the articles mention him being around either, only Kate and Alexis.

This did jump out at me though - after the Uncle Kevin/Aunt Jodi "we're only doing this to help the children" online exclusive - did you honestly think they would be invited!

Ok here is my thought on the whole Kevin and Jodi thing. The press most likely knew how to contact them since they had been on the show. I wonder how much of there interview was done because they thought that they would stop getting hounded for and interview if they finally did one. Secondly maybe they had had it with the way that Kate was spinning it and thought at least Cara and Mady who we all agree have to know something is up need to know the truth


DMRick has already commented, but from what I saw she was facing him with her mouth open - for all we know she could have shouted "Jon I love you more than life itself, lets grab the kids and run baby!"

I thought the article said they didn't have enough time to advertise it, because the commitment didn't come in time. But you know, Kate is darned if she does and darned if she doesn't (go to speak, that is).
Even charity events are being hit hard with today's economy.

I was making a joke. I thought it was laughable that in Kate's area of PA, there weren't enough people interested in hearing her speak. I'd have said the same if it was Jessica Simpson scheduled to perform in her area and they had to cancel due to low ticket sales!

No idea what apples and oranges means. If you mean that kids of 'regular' divorced parents are way different than kids of celebrities divorced parents then you know something that I don't. And I do think that J & K are on the rag mags because they have a successful show and are newsworthy. Regular divorced parents are not. The rag mags want to make money, and this is how they do it. I'm sure that just as many regular kids of divorced parents have their own mommy dearest books to write. Being on the cover of a rag mag isn't what makes a bad parent.

I haven't been able to see a rhyme or reason as to why they show which pictures they show. No idea why the pic of Kate coming out of Target was newsworthy (and I don't remember if the guard was there). I don't know if they are always showing him when he's around, or if sometimes they don't show him, because it doesn't mean anything to the picture. In this picture, they wanted to show Kate out with one of the children. I don't even know if Jon was with Kate 10 paces behind with 5 other kids. The photo's are cropped and taken as to what I'm sure the rag mags think are noteworthy. Is the story about Kate alone with the bodyguard? Then the picture will show the bodyguard. Is the story about Jon and the bodyguard? Then just Jon and the bodyguard will be in the picture. That's how they play the game. Heck, even those of us here are confused. First Kate isn't supposed to be home, then the pictures are with her, Jon and the bodyguard....and the dogs.
That said, I still wonder if we are being so played by TLC.

What an elaborate scheme, if we are.

I just can't imagine they'd put the kids, their families, their fans, etc. through this. It may not be as bad as the media is portraying, but I can't imagine they're faking everything or they're allowing TLC to spin it this way.

I've been leaning that way too now. It's almost like the stories are so crazy and far fetched they sound literally unbelievable. Maybe it's like another poster said, they are having some minor problems but TLC and the media are running wild with it since it's a perfect opportunity to capitalize! Shame on them if that's so. Have you seen all the crazy stories out there?? It's insane.

Okay, for some reason I haven't been getting e-mail updates for this thread and I have been DIS absent.

Anyway, I bought People today, such a sucker. I don't know what has been written about this so far on this thread, but if this is all "for real" I feel so sad for everyone involved. I hope they can step back and get back on track. I hate to watch - literally- a family fall apart.
The whole thing is very sad.

My DH had terrible allergies as a child and the only dog he could have was a miniature schnauzer. They do not shed and are considered hypo-allergenic! I believe poodles fall into that catergory too. Just a thought.

Cute puppy dog. That made my evening last night.

Ok I watched reruns of the show last night and now know it wasn't my imagination about the kids speach. There were alot of subtitels. And I doh't like some of the comments about the kids out of kates mouth. They seem demeaning to me and I can't imagine talking about my kids that way to a camera. The stuff she says is stuff you might share with a spouse or a close friend but not on camera for your kids to hear someday. Sometimes she says this stuff right when the kids are in earshot as well.

As far as TLC doing this for ratings....I think they are LOVING what it is doing for their ratings, and they are totally exploiting it and using it for thier commercials and their build up for the new season (most definately, I've seen it myself) - but I think that Jon and Kate deserve sole credit for creating the situation and ruining their family. Jon and Kate created the situation by setting no natural limits. They have written off everyone in their lives. Allowed the show to be more important than relationships and their family. No family can survive in the world they have created for themselves. TLC is just reaping the "benefits" while they can. Even if the family didn't fall apart, no show can go on forever, and people were already talking about how this one's shelf life was going to expire as the kids got older and in school. What are we going to watch? JOn sitting home sunbathing with girlfriends? Kate going on speaking engagements? They know it isn't going to last forever so they are getting some extra bang for their buck at the end.

We know this how? Because a rag mag tells us? Or because friends and family aren't shown on the show? Or because one brother and his wife are angry that Kate supposedly said no to their being paid beyond the lousy $3300 which was what they were paid for lights in their house, and decided to spill all to yet another rag mag?

I personally have no idea if they see friends and family, since I am not privy to their home live, just what TLC wants me to see.
