Jon and Kate Plus 8 official Thread, Part 2!!

this is just something I was thinking about.......

since Kate had the babies, is Jon is the ONLY adult that has stayed in her life? For whatever reasons.....at least a good number of adults we know about are no longer in her life....her mom/dad, Jodi, Beth, Nana Janet, etc.

I know we don't see everything in their lives but it (losing adults in her life) seems to be a trend......I can see that she might be hard to get along with.

I thought it was interesting that she pointed out that YES, they do have a sitter and we'll have her "forever and ever."

I wonder if Kate and Jon have had words about Kate chasing off all of the other helpers.....

I hope they get things worked out.

What trip to Florida are you talking about??

someone posted to this thread in early March (during the week of March 1-7) that they saw Jon at a bakery in Florida.

at the time, it was speculated that the kids could have been on Spring break (later said to be unlikely by a poster from PA, as that wasn't when the local schools were out) or they were filming a "spring break" episode for the show. They could have been trying to escape the bad publicity that was brewing at the time, as well. No one knows for certain why they were there.

there's a whole timeline thing I've got going on in my head, and had I not been to see Kate, none of it would make any sense to me.

if the trip to Florida turns out to be part of season 5 ... they were already shooting that before Jon's declaration that there may not be another season of JK8? I'll be curious to see how it plays out. I really will. Jon said in an interview in February that they were signed for season 5, so if they are seriously reconsidering the series, wouldn't they possibly be in breach of contract?

So many questions ...

Does anyone know what Store Kate was saying was her favorite to shop in for herself???

It was Loft by Anne Taylor.

I know that store well since I shop there a lot. It is in the Shoppes at Wyomissing. That same strip is where she shopped at a Gymboree for the kids.

Loved seeing some other places I have been like the Art Institute of Wyomissing (I have worked with an Irish Dance group that practices there for fundraising) and the Sovereign Center where I have seen many shows (I recognized a bunch of the ushers/security guys there). The museum they visited was the newly renovated Please Touch Museum in Philly.

I just wanted to second that except for colleges, spring break around here is at Easter (either the week before or after).

Ok guys....you guys have been way busy since I have been on vacation and I am WAY too tired from Disney to read all of it right now.....I'll catch up in the morning! ;)

Yes, it is definitely a LOFT by Anne Taylor store...I shop there often and have recognized some of the things Kate wears as things I own too.

Quick question
I know all about the Jodi drama but what ever happened to Beth was there some Beth drama also?

JMO but I think Kate can cut people out easily and doesn't really care about anyone else but her brood - I really think they're all that she needs to be happy. (It's almost like she was really hurt by someone in her past and now shuts down).

And BTW this is coming from a fan, not a basher. :)

As far as Jon, JMO again, but it seemed like on the first episodes way back you could tell she really did care and depend on Jon (kind of like a "you & me against the world" stance) and she seemed to look to him for his approval.

It makes me sad but now it almost seems like she has lost a lot of respect for him, for some reason. I thought it kind of showed it when Kate yelled at Jon about not using that coupon, because she went on and on and on to humilate him (so over the top that The Soup even ridiculed that in a clip by showing her yelling and then cutting to someone holding a gun, supposedly seeming like Jon wanting to use it on her or himself). :guilty:

I hope they make it through their storm, whatever it takes. Like Kate says though, they can't go back now- but they can go forward even better, IF they can just get on the same page. If not, one or the other will be resentful, and that's like poison to a relationship.

Also is anyone else unable to get into any of the other shows about large families? Tonight I tried to watch the new Table for 12 show, but it didn't seem to have the "magic" that J&K did. But if that dad gets hair plugs right away and the mom gets skinny, tan, and whiter teeth, we'll know that it's truly impossible to stay "normal" while in the public eye.

Wow, that was a lot of show last nite.

I loved the art projects.
Jon and Kate seemed a tad better in the interview chair during the first half hour. He even complimented her with clothes.

A couple of months ago, they moved that whole set to the new house and Kate told the viewers that they have been fooling everyone. They had been doing the interviews since last October in the new house and everyone thought they were in the old house yet.

How sad, that Kate will not listen to Jon.
If they come back as producers of the show, doesn't that mean, that they have to pay for some of the producing, yet they will receive more money? But they will have more say in what is done with the show.

One more comment, when Jon was working on the Insurance site,
I thought he was doing some IT work and developing their web page,
that segment sure was confusing.

See this is what annoys me about kate. She yells at John for not using a coupon at Home Depot, but then she can go and shop at Ann Taylor for herself and that's OK.
And poor John, I really do feel bad for him, he doesn't want to be known, he wants his old life back and Kate feels the absolute opposite. :sad2:

Seahunt, I have to agree with you. In addition to the other shows, I tried to watch Table for 12 last night and just couldn't get into it so I turned it off. Little People is the only other one I watch besides Jon/Kate and I'm captured by Jon and Kate, although in our family we call it "Jon +8 Hate Kate."

I don't know.....maybe she did have a coupon. I shop at LOFT a lot, and the prices are really reasonable, especially if you hit the sales. I also get coupons from them all the time. So who knows if she had one or not.

And I disagree about Jon. This is Season 4 of his show, kind of late to be having this epiphany now. He sure doesn't seem to have a problem accepting all the free trips and special experiences. Jon's problem seems to be more of an identity crisis. I think him becoming a producer will go a long way towards making him feel like he has more "value". Kate is definitely the public persona, but producing will definitely give him more behind the scenes say.

I liked the idea of the art projects .. and the actual paintings turned out great. The children did a wonderful job, and a nice idea to use them in the basement (there's my positive comment for the day. ;) )

BUT. Kate manipulating the colors? Eh. Did she explain to the kids what they were doing, making decorations for the house, or did she just tell them what colors they could and couldn't use?

And I laughed as they were showing the paintings ... they were halfway trying to make it seem like it was the first time Jon saw the art, but he said he was the one that picked up the order at the museum. Even he couldn't keep it straight about whether he should be talking about them like he'd never see them or just comment about how nice they look. LOLOL.

I think so? I have no idea about how producing works, though. LOL.

I agree! I had NO idea what he was doing, but I really thought it was a plug for ALLSTATE, since he said ALLSTATE specifically 2 or 3 times.

Perhaps Ann Taylor gives Kate the clothes for free advertisement. I haven't noticed, but is their name mentioned in the credits?

I loved the interaction with the globetrotters and the kids very sweet.

I hate to say this, Jon was way off base there is no way they can go back to being just "Jon" That is one bell you can't unring

BINGO. especially the bolded part.

there are too many inconsistencies to feel badly for Jon & Kate and the state of their marriage.

my only hope is that the children have stability and consistency in their lives while their parents appear to be spiraling out of control.

one of the hottest things in advertisements are endorsement deals...A Lot of people tivo shows and fast forward through commercials. Advertisers are trying to get people to notice their products more & more, and it's ALL over J&K+8.....Gymboree, Ann Taylor, Crocs, Lane Furniture, Juicy juice, Little Tykes, V Tech, johnson & Johnson....It goes on & on.....

they receive free product and will agree to use it on & off the show. They have exclusive deals with Ann Taylor and Gymboree. The " shopping " trip was staged I'm sure.....

Does anyone remember the " yard sale " episode when they were at the church selling stuff? there was a section on the table LOADED with johnson & johnson no more tangle shampoo, soap, cond, this kind of stuff. I know b/c i tivo-ed it and got to pause when they panned over all the stuff....She had so much free J & J that she was selling it at the sale!

the new table for 12 show had Ragu as a sponsor....Think of how much free stuff they are getting with this deal.

I have no problems with Kate manipulating the colors to match the rooms she wanted to hang them in. I don't see why this would be a big deal I also don't see why she would need to explain that to the kids. I only let my son have 2 or 3 colors at a time when he paints/colors. He gets too distracted with too many choices and it is also a lot less messy:confused3

I thought they moved the set from the old house to the new house. I am assuming that they just meant they would have a new set design for the next season.

It was obviously a plug for Allstate. Jon did not sound like he was happy to do it. It seemed like the gist was that he could quickly view and make changes to his insurance even with his hectic life. The whole thing came off very cheesy though.

Yeah, I loved that BLATANT placement of the 2 big jars of Ragu during a preview for their show. Before the clip was even over I told my DH I bet Ragu is a sponsor, and then they said it.

It doesn't bother me too much as long as they don't overdo it. The Allstate thing was a stretch, them just having a jar of Ragu on their counter and not really talking about it doesn't bother me.

I didn't see the part of the show where they actually painted -- I've just read several accounts on various sites of Kate manipulating the color choice, and how bad the painting person was at the museum? I've got the tivo set to tape the show tomorrow night. To me, manipulating means there are 5 colors available, and the children were told they could only use 2 .. as opposed to only offering 2 colors, which I wouldn't consider manipulating the situation at all. KWIM? I shouldn't have commented on that part as if I'd seen it when I hadn't.

but I do think the kids are old enough to be told they're making art for the house. they'd probably like that!
