.....I thought last night's show was cute but I missed seeing the girls!

Me too! I also think the show has more "pop" to it when Kate is on more. (I think that's the word I want to use!)

Funny because I was bored and reading on the GWOP site and they were talking about how he was so greedy and kept taking more and more things instead of being gracious!!

I saw a fun night at the ballpark, but of course those Gwop people can't ever see anything positvie or they are labled sheeples.... I just don't understand those people, if you hate the show so much...DON'T WATCH.

I thought last night's show was cute but I missed seeing the girls!

I think last night was the end of the road for me. Not because I'm disgusted by it all, or hate the Gosselins or whatever ... that isn't it. There are things that bug me - be about the show, how the Gosselins choose to do things, etc. - but, those things don't bug me to the point of disgust. KWIM?

I found myself bored silly with last night's show. (the following opinions expressed are mine alone, not influenced by any outside blogs ) Those boys didn't care about being there, other than eating junk food and buying stuff ... I wonder who came up with the idea for this show - the Gosselins or Figure8 or the Phillies. It isn't like the boys play little league or anything like that - we've not seen Jon & Kate even mention any of the kids playing organized sports. Last night's episode was centered around something Jon wanted to do and the boys & Cara were involved to make it a show. It was a long night for those kids, and I'm a little surprised Kate allowed them to be out so late past their bedtime. It just seems like a little un-Katelike, LOL. This game was a big deal to the Phillies, and the only one that was excited was the lady that was with the Gosselins in the box, LOL.

I can't believe all they showed of the girls was the few minutes at the beginning .. even when the kids had their one on ones, they showed the rest of the family throughout. It was definitely missing the spunk of Kate, Mady, and the little girls... which added to my boredom.

And I found it sad watching the following show, taking pics at Beth & Bob's house ... knowing that they're quite likely not involved in the Gosselin's life. Not just the kids, but Jon & Kate. They all seemed so happy together.

The "lady" in the box that you mentioned was the Phillie manager's wife - and she mentioned quite often how they watch the show. I'm wondering if they invited the Gosselins to be their guests. I didn't get the impression that this outing was done just to satisfy Jon. But I can understand that I think alot of dads have that desire to experience a ballgame with their sons so I do think it was an appropriate thing to do. I just second-guess the decision to take them to a night game. For kids that young, their day is starting to wind down by the time the first pitch is thrown. To sit through a whole game was asking alot of them, IMO. I'm thinking they would have been more in to it if it had been a day game.

I wasn't taking very good notes last night I missed the part where they explained who the woman was .. obviously that was a pretty important detail And you raise a good point about inviting the Gosselins, because I didn't really think that Jon seemed to be much of a Phillies fan, other than when he met that player. When they were talking about it on the couch, I just didn't get the sense that Phillies baseball is his life, the way that sports are in other men's life. I don't mean that as a slam to Jon in any way, I just don't get the impression he's a huge follower of sports. I should rephrase what I said - it wasn't necessarily an activity centered around something Jon wanted to do - it was an activity that he got the most enjoyment from. I think that's what I mean. LOL. Without knowing who came up with the idea of the show, it's unfair to assume this was centered around him.

Last night's episode was also a pretty clear example of how much those kids work sometimes. They were being filmed throughout the entire game, as well as running the bases and meeting the players. That's a LONG night (4 hours, easily) for those little guys - and it would have been a long day, had it been filmed during the day. Now, I understand that it was a one-shot deal, and for all we know they may have had a light shooting week other than the game.

They've sure come a long way from episodes based on raising their unusual family, that's for sure.

They sure have and I have to say I miss the old days. There's really not much going on lately in this show that captures my attention. Fact is in many ways their life is much easier than it was in the beginning so they have no choice but do to things that make their lives difficult so they can continue to show how hard their life is. I'd rather they go to occasional shows at this point - maybe 4-5 times a year and leave it at that.

My friend's husband is an avid Phillies fan. He's been taking their son to Phillies games since the little guy was 2. Their son is now 5 and loves Phillies games. He knows the players and he even plays Little League baseball. But that's because he's been going to games for the past 3 years. Also, there's only one of him, and it's usually a family outing (except when they drag me, of course). (BTW, I can imagine the level of excitement in their house over the World Series!)

If the little boys have never seen a baseball game before, of course they are going to be bored. They were sitting in an enclosed room (a/k/a "Luxury Suite"), watching something they've probably never seen before. I doubt Jon watches the games at home. To expect them to be enthusiastic was a stretch. I didn't catch how interested Cara seemed.

I never had a problem with the show or Kate (or sponsorships or product placement or making money for the family, etc.) but I admit they are stretching for subjects. At this point, I'd rather see the kids a few times a year rather than every week at disinteresting locales.

I thought it was a little stale, too (except the cutie baseball player ). I also don't really care for baseball. I'm totally into it when they're showing something I'm interested in (Disney, organizing, shopping, etc.). I loved the Fourth of July shows! We're seriously considering a beach house holiday next summer. We did a country club/timeshare Fourth in Ruidoso two years ago, and it was okay. Not great. May have been more fun if DS was older (he had just turned 1 in June, and our family traveled for the Fourth because we were in mourning and couldn't participate in the Fourth of July Powwow). DSwillthenbe4 is being introduced into the arena next Fourth, so we won't travel then, but a week in a beach house sometime next summer is a definite possibility.

About the Phillies game, they got to sit in one of the luxury boxes with obvious VIP privileges. (When I've been in them, food is brought to you....I don't get that he went to get his own food? I'm sure it was provided? )
I've been in both the luxury boxes and regular seats, and I would take the regular seats any day, you seem to be so much more part of the "energy" of the game. I wonder if the boys would have actually watched more of the game if they were in regular seats?

I think when the kids are old enough to understand baseball, etc., they will look back on that night and episode and say WOW! COOOL!

The luxury boxes I've been in are usually much bigger and there are more seats to sit in to view the game, lined up like mini-rows. At least, that's how we do it in New York.

Personally, I'd take viewing a game from a luxury suite anyday -- nothing beats having your own private bathroom at a sporting event!

that was the one thing my husband commented on - it's our (extremely limited) experience that luxury boxes have the food brought to you. The one exception to that was when we sat in a box at Slugger Field in Louisville. We werent in the highest tier of boxes, though - there was a concession stand right outside the boxes, as if they were part of the box seating area.

the only thing that suggests to me it might be more is that it was connected to the suite of the people with kids in age similar to the Gosselin children. (drawing a blank on who those people were) The ones with all the coloring books and such. Weren't they well-connected-to-the-Phillies people?

Interestingly enough, I think they said they were the family of the Director of Media (or Marketing?) relations - which would explain the proximity of the two booths.

My DD has yet to see the whole episode so it's still on our DVR. I'll see what the sign on the door said when we watch it later.

Ok - since I'm anal and it was bugging me, I just checked the episode on our DVR. The sign outside of the room they watched the game in said "Aux. Broadcast Booth #8". It wasn't a luxury suite; just an extra booth for additional media outlets to use, when needed (like now, for the World Series).

mystery solved! And that is the likely explanation about why Jon went out to get his food. It sounds like the setup we had in Louisville. There was a box, but we had to go out for food and potty.

I just noticed one other thing, as I was catching up on my blog reading. Since I knew that the GWoP people more than likely had a field day with last night's show, I started at the Do Not Need Our Pity site. They're usually kind of balanced over there. Well, most of the comments are commenting about GWoP. Very little about the episode, which people seemed to either love or be like we are over here.
