Jon and Kate Plus 8 official Thread, Part 2!!

I haven't been reading the thread too much lately but I had a question that was maybe mentioned already. So is it true that Jon and Kate only work for their show now? Jon doesn't work outside the home?

Jon & Kate have a quote on their site that says the show is their life. (or their life is the show?) Jon hasn't worked outside the home for some months now.

Is it true that the show is helping them buy their new house? I was just wondering what would happen if the show is ever cancelled. Would they still get to keep the house? Will Jon go back to work somewhere? I'm sure they have something set. Does anyone know?

Deb
no one knows the answers to those questions, at least not that I'm aware of ... but, I'm not up on my JK8 reading this week. :rotfl:

Oh boy, Mady did not look happy this a.m. on GMA. I think Robin Roberts said something like "I know this one." Poor Mady. I can picture my DS looking like that on tv too. He would put on a sad face just to annoy me.

I dont think she is doing it to annoy any one, maybe all this hoopla Is really affecting her.

what is it with Kate's personality and these interviews? She's so flat... almost blahhh. Not the same Kate you see on the show. I think she's cautious? Is that the word I'm looking for?

I figured out what's bugging me about the Kmart/layaway interviews and the upcoming cooking segment on GMA. It was mentioned earlier in this thread (I think???) or somewhere I was reading that Rachael Ray and other celebrities that give budget tips, but clearly don't have to live on a budget .. and how is that different than Kate. Well, on GMA this morning, they keep saying how Kate has to budget and plan, all these meals she's cooking, etc. Well, I think we all know those days are over. If Kate's a celebrity/TV star, then portray her that way. Don't pretend she's still a mom like me, because she isn't.

She also said they were happy to find a way to make money so they could both stay home - perpetuating the whole show/life/job thing. They're past the filming to have something to look back claim. There was also mention of more books.

Strike while the iron's hot, I say. I'm not sure they've got what it takes to last for the long haul.

The Sprouse brothers (Suite life) are on GMA now, speaking to the fact that when they were younger, they had to split the time on screen ... because there are RULES about how long they can be working per week or whatever.

Someone should give Jon & Kate a copy of those rules.

That was actually Cara that had a frown on the whole interview.Mady piped up and said her name and told Robin Roberts that she gets mad when her mom says her name for her.She smiling when she did it then Robin said -oh yeah I know about Mady-

Crap I missed it!! I went outside for 5 minutes to feed the horses and I missed it!!

Robin Roberts mentioned Beth Carson as a co-author. Kate just sort of said, mm hmm to that. No mention of Jon having a byline, either. I know that it won't be asked, but I wish someone would about Beth. And I wish Kate would just honestly say, she's not in our life anymore and leave it at that. SOMETHING.

duh...I didn't miss it...I forgot I lived in Texas!!! :rolleyes1

Poor Cara, she does not look happy. They just showed her messing with her sweater and making a "I'm hot face" so maybe she is just hot and tired.

Alexis is too cute for words.

It's alot better than the Regis and Kelly interview!

Kate actually calls the show their family job, but claims the kids aren't actually working .. they're playing? I guess that's how they justify how much time is spent filming? I don't know. Kate does say that if one of the kids doesn't want to do the show anymore, then they won't. I'm not 100% convinced of that - not at the height of their popularity - but, at least she said it.

I guess I wasn't paying attention. I assumed it was Mady.

I wasn't saying that "cara" was doing it to annoy her parents. Just that my son would do it just to annoy me.

Good morning Madge. I'm a huge fan of "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" and always enjoy reading your "reserved" take on the show's happenings.

She guards herself when verbalizing her thoughts/responses. Being reared by parents who "over disciplined", that trait may be ingrained as a "protective" mechanism.

Kate's a smart cookie who I'd bet DOES live on a budget. Their income may be huge at this point, but Jon and Kate most likely are preparing for the time when their show's shooting ceases.
They seem to be very business savvy, taking advantage of opportunities as they see fit!

She also said they were happy to find a way to make money so they could both stay home - perpetuating the whole show/life/job thing. They're past the filming to have something to look back claim. There was also mention of more books.

Ooo, you've reminded me my book should be arriving today.:teeth:

Strike while the iron's hot, I say. I'm not sure they've got what it takes to last for the long haul.

I'm of the opinion they(Kate, especially) will be in the public eye in some capacity for years to come.

It's on now at my house and Robin mentioned that Beth Carson co authored and Kate just said correct. Since they were talking about cooking I didn't see where they could have elaborated much about the book at that point.

:wave2: thanks!

that may be it. I have a friend who sort of does the same ... you can almost see him saying out loud in his head what he's planning to say before he says it.

I just think her personality isn't coming through on any of these interviews. Maybe she's edgy that someone will ask a question she doesn't want to answer, maybe she's nervous? There could be a number of factors involved. But, the Kate on the show seems more at ease and charismatic than the Kate I see in these interviews.

I don't know about the budget .... maybe they do. I'm (obviously) skeptical about that. Their overall grocery bill is probably smaller, anyway. Kate has said they have craft services on the days they film, and she's also said (can't remember where) that they're filming 4 days a week ... so she's only cooking fixing meals days a week. Since the beef was the focus of a show, they didn't have to pay for that (lucky them!). I'm sure it's still quite a hefty grocery bill, but their load has been lightened considerably.

I respectfully disagree with the business skills. I don't see that at all.

I'm of the opinion they(Kate, especially) will be in the public eye in some capacity for years to come.

I guess time will tell! What's the attraction for the long term, do you think?

that is true. I also thought it was a little weird the way Robin mentioned Beth co-authoring the book without her being there. It seemed a little disjointed or something? Is that the word I'm looking for? Like it was an afterthought or something, I don't know. It didn't fit with the cooking segment, I agree.

I may have missed something when book news started floating around, but why did Beth co-author? She doesn't have multiples, does she? What was her contribution to the book?

I couldn't sleep last night and turned on the tv and the Doctor/Preschool one was on again. Two things that I thought were really cute....

Alexis at the doctor making a seal noise and doing the clapping thing with her arms...

and for some reason when Leah hollers out of the van "Daddy, don't forget our bookbags" I don't know why, but I just think that's adorable.

I remember reading somewhere - Good Housekeeping, maybe? I don't know. It was a legitimate media source, though ;) The link is at GWoP and also comes up in a google search - it's for a Christian retailing website: http://www.christianretailing.com/archives.php?IssID=2509

Anyway, Kate says that the book came at Beth's suggestion, or she helped to get it on paper. Something like that? I'll dig around and see what I can find.

Reality TV couple delivers 'Multiple Blessings'
Zondervan will release on Tuesday, Oct. 14, Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving With Twins and Sextuplets by Kate Gosselin and her husband, Jon—who star in the hit reality TV series Jon & Kate Plus 8 on TLC.

Kate Gosselin said writing a book was the last thing on their minds after they found they were pregnant with sextuplets, just three years after giving birth to twin daughters.

"Soon after (the sextuplets) were born, people said, 'Oh you need to write a book,' " Kate Gosselin told Christian Retailing. "I remember for the longest time my joke was, 'Yeah, in my spare time, right?' … But after a while of living it, it kind of felt like we were living a book."

Beth Carson, the couple's friend, offered to help them "capture the memories on paper" of their unique family situation. "I had told her (Carson) numerous times that I needed to write this book ... for the kids," Gosselin explained. "I need them to know how much that they were wanted, loved and know it wasn't the plan we had (to have them). It was the plan God had for our family."

Co-written by Carson, Multiple Blessings reveals details of the couple's journey as they raise their eight children, while striving to honor Christ in spite of emotional, financial, social and physical exhaustion.

"There was really no story to tell if you minus God and His plans out of it," Gosselin said. "So it's very important to tell it the way it was, the lessons we have learned and are still learning through our story."

Zondervan has no book tour plans for the Gosselins, but the couple plans to promote Multiple Blessings as they speak in churches—a ministry that has increased with the growing popularity of Jon & Kate Plus 8, Gosselin said.

The Gosselins were scheduled to appear Oct. 16 on Good Morning America and Oct. 17 on Fox & Friends. The November issue of Good Housekeeping will feature the Gosselins on the cover as well as an excerpt from Multiple Blessings. Ladies Home Journal was to feature the book in this month's issue, and Redbook will have a story on the book in its December issue.

It's a rainy day, here .. I'm on the couch with the laptop while my kids are in school. I should be cleaning or doing laundry, but don't feel like it. :lmao:

Fall break at public schools, so I'm off work for the next two days while DS is in school. I should also be cleaning and doing laundry. Actually, I have some laundry going, but I really need to clean out the toy store that is DS's room.

Interesting. Get on it, Madge!! :rotfl:
