who's living well? Kate? I suppose she is, living in a $1.whatever million house ...

I'm not so sure I'd call it living well when my husband is admitting our marital woes on national TV and magzines. :confused3

Sometimes men will be men. There are marital woes in every marriage. Nothing is as perfect as it seems... and anyone who says their marriage is perfect needs counselling too. Theres no such thing. We all disagree, we all fight, we are all human (atleast I think we all are- lol). Again, Men will be men..... sometimes people pop off at the mouth (in front of a camera-- since he has them around him often)... and ofcourse- the media runs with it (and so do people who really like to find someone in life to hate, which ironically is only bringing out the insecurities within themselves)....

because Jon was quoted, Jon's at fault? Men will be men? I don't understand what you're saying.

If the recent media exposure of the Gosselins means "living well is the best revenge" for Kate? I'm not sure I agree.

1. If they're having a hard time raising their kids in front of millions? Then stop doing it.

2. With Kate's career taking off he's lost? Then maybe they should discuss things, as a couple, and work something out. I hope they do. Because I find that statement incredibly sad :(

100% agree with you Madge! It's sad that this family is getting messed up from all this. Reality TV usually doesn't have a great outcome for families, Nick and Jessica-divorced, Carmen and Dave-divorced, some of the Survivor winners have had troubles...I don't know, reality TV so far hasn't had a great track record for improving or "helping" families...that's what it seems to me anyways.

I'm saying sometimes people speak out of turn. Just because Jon said something that went to the media(or directly/indirectly to them) doesn't mean he is running full speed ahead to the national media so he can cry wolf about all his 'marital woes'. Maybe he spoke about hard times while talking about something else... and that's all the media cared to hear. Women are often better about keeping their home lives more private (as in what happens in the bedroom stays in the bedroom)... but men have different personalities when it comes to that stuff and doesnt think its as big of a deal.

I think sometimes people turn everything negative. Sure Jon might have said with Kate's career taking off he is lost. That doesnt mean he meant "we never see one another, we live different lifestyles, i like the young girls at the bars, i think we need a divorce"... it could have meant something like "with Kates career taking off im lost. shes so organized and has been around everyday for so long, i miss having that sense of organization around. I miss my companion and she helps so well with the kids' yadda yadda yadda.

I agree that if this is effecting their family as a whole, they shouldn't be doing reality TV- regardless of the large check attached to it.

And there have been reports that just having multiples causes a lot of marital stress (higher incidences of problems, divorce, etc.)

I hope they can get it together for their family, what a sad situation if the marriage does end. I hope they re-evaluate their current arrangements. Hopefully more time at home for them both and a real "focus on the family". I think that's what drew us all in to the show in the beginning anyways, they all seemed so focused on the family, even with the daily ups and downs.

Don't forget about:
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline (Chaotic)
Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler (Meet the Barkers)
Danny Bonaduce and Gretchen Bonaduce (Breaking Bonaduce)
Kathy Griffin and Matt Moline (My Life on the D-List)
Hulk Hogan and Linda Bollea (Hogan Knows Best)

Ozzy and Sharon made it, though!

And don't forget the originals

An American Family (PBS)--The Loud Family

Fastforward to the year 2021. New reality show starring children who grew up on reality shows and how they are now, starring Mady and Cara. I hope these girls get someone in their lives who will give them what they need emotionally.

And there have been reports that just having multiples causes a lot of marital stress (higher incidences of problems, divorce, etc.)

I can tell you from experience that multiples totally put stress on a marriage. I only have twins! My boys are very needy...like to be held alot and tend to compete for attention. There are times (after the kids are in bed) that I know my husband wants me to sit on the couch and cuddle, make out, have sex or even a conversation but I'm just drained. I feel like someone has wanted something from me all day long and he is just one more person in line!

I think Kate has been really stressed out since the move. She's back to the Kate EVERYONE trashed all last summer. It seems the more gentle Kate we saw in the fall episodes is gone.

I thought the interview Kate gave at the new house on Oprah was very interesting. The cameras are no longer welcome in the bedroom, the crew has to take their shoes off and there is only one original camera guy--all the other ones probably couldn't take it anymore! Now that they are "celebrities" it must be much more difficult to work with them. My aunt had 8 children (one set of twins) that were about 12 months apart. They turned out to be the most dysfunctional family and to this day hardly talk to each other. It will be interesting to see the Gosselin's in 20 years!

I spoke to someone as well that went to this speaking engagement and loved going and thought it was great. I think that people are expecting way to much from her. She doesn't have the personality to go out there and be Anthony Robbins. I think now that shes used to doing these things, saying her story and leaving. And for that matter, what if they said to HER make sure you speak for 25 minutes. What if she was just asking, because they didn't want her to go over? I don't know, I think people live to bring this woman down. As a fan I will always give her the benefit of the doubt.:confused3

I respect that you are a fan of Kate's. I know that a lot of people are.

Having seen her, heard her speak ... all I can say is ugh.

She was not only a boring speaker, she was rude

Most people see the Jon & Kate TLC and Figure8 wants us to see. What happens in real real life ... especially how you treat others ... is what counts.

J&K would have to be the MOST unbelievable example of surviving life's stresses if they did it without exhibiting or experiencing problems. Here's the list of the worst stresses:
Death of spouse
Divorce
Marital separation
Death of close family member
Personal injury or illness
Marriage
Loss of job due to termination
Marital reconciliation or retirement
Pregnancy
Change in financial state

I know how I've felt experiencing any of the above stresses. I can't imagine experiencing multiple stresses in a short period or at the same time.

#1 J&K got married
#2 They got 'remarried'
#3 Soon after marriage, they got pregnant & had not 1 but 2 babies at once!
#4 Soon after the twins they had a highly stressful high risk pregnancy with the tups
#5 Loss of jobs happened WHILE they were pregnant and multiple times for Jon due to termination.
#6 Jon's father passed away very soon after the birth of the tups.
#7 Loss of a family member, again- the estrangement of Kate from her family and the reported loss of close friendships with best friends ranks the same as death of a family member.
#8 Their financial state has gone thru significant changes. From being poor, as they say they were when the tups were born to their current state which is the extreme opposite.

Out of life's 10 biggest stresses J&K have experienced at least 8 in less than 9 years of marriage. Add to this, the fact that they've allowed cameras into their already stressed lives, to capture the good and bad. I can't imagine...........

this is an excellent post.

I wonder what, if any, impact Jon & Kate's age when they got married plays into this. They were pretty young, I think. 20 & 22?

(

Exactly!

But then they wouldn't have their million dollar house and their current lifestyle.

So which are they choosing? :confused3

If you do a quick search online, there are many that are saying the same thing. They didn't like or dislike Kate until they saw her in person either at a speaking engagement or a book signing. When your income (or at least part of it) is coming from those things you would think she would be gracious and enthusiastic, not rude/boring while speaking and rushing through book signings. JMHO

I told DH a few months ago that I wondered if their marriage would last. EVERYONE I've ever known to have their vows renewed ended in divorce. I hope their marriage is strong and they can get back to where they were. Hopefully it's just a rough patch with the move, puppies, and all.

I love the show, makes my life seem somewhat normal.

Ouch, we just renewed our vows last week; that's harsh...;) honestly though, we are way to stubborn to get a divorce. My husband knows that divorce is never an option, but murder is always on the table:lmao: :lmao:

I'm sorry, of course I didn't mean you.:) I'm was just speaking personally of the people we know. I would love to renew our vows with our kids but I've already jinxed us so we can't.:rotfl:
