iam from the uk so maybe iam experiencing some cultural differences here...but even our localpriest has had the odd tipple.

Jon isn't selling himself as a saint is he?...But a family man...anfd thats exactly what these pics show...He's posing with fans...I agree he should probably just say no in future if its going to cause this much fuss...

As was said earlier...the drinking should not be an issue at all...we have seen Jon drink several times on this show..its nothing new...In fact wasn't he a bit drunk on his 30th party epi?

Right, but it's not like you have fans asking you for pic's either- or at least I'm assuming not -And let's face it, like I said before, Jon seems like a nice guy and I just don't see him easily saying no to a fan asking for a pic. I don't know, don't get me wrong, I think for the shows purpose and their image, Jon has made some bad judgement calls, but I really don't see any proof that it's any more than that. It will be interesting to see if churches stop asking them to make appearances, and honestly I wouldn't blame them; it's probably not the image their wanting to promote, but I see it as only that.

Look. I can totally see how Jon got here. He got married at 21, had kids not long after that, and now is a TV personality. All in 10 years time. I'm sure he's finding himself in situations that he never dreamed of. It's a lot to absorb for anyone.

now that I think about it, I'm a little surprised that Jon is out and about alone. Maybe security isn't necessary when it's just Jon and the cameras aren't rolling?

I'm obviously in the minority here. Not the first time. I'm starting to sound GWoP-ish, and that certainly is NOT my intent. This just bugs me and I've gotten fired up. Sorry.

I'm going back to making my grocery list and planning my weekend. I'll report back on Sunday, after I've seen Kate for myself.

If we were on the tV Iam sure my Dh would get people coming up to him for snaps if he was in a bar..(which isn't that often) ..I'd hate to think this would make him an "unfamily man"..LOL....because it couldn't be further from the truth.

I honestly cannot see the harm in those pics..(except for the nasty rumours they are brewing)

iam shocked by the reaction to these pics on other blogs...its seems pretty obvious they are fan pics!..He is even posing for the camera..in fact the pics I've seen were taken the same night i think as he has on the same shirt and sweater.
What on earth is wrong with a married man going to a bar for a few drinks?..Am I missing something..
My DH works 200 miles away during the week...occassionaly he will visit a bar after work for a couple of drinks with colleugues?...Is that so shocking?
He has even been known ..shock horror..to speak to a woman colleugue!!

Hey I've even been known to visit a bar with friends myself..I didn't realise they were off limits to marrieds
Iam not slating you guys here..you all have a sensible aproach...but goodness those guys over on GWOP..they are desperate for something like Jon cheating to be true ....Sad bunch of low lifes ...they hide behind the fact they want the kids to have a "normal life"..when really they are pig sick with envy over the Gosselins life.

I think they have a good marriage..(similar to dh and I) ...They are not perfect..but who is?...A lovely family..and those kids have a GREAT life!!...The peeps on GWOP should try feeling sorry for some of the homeless kids living in poverty without loving parents out there

I think these pictures are inappropriate, but the "eyewitness accounts" are way worse. Going out to a college bar, by yourself, drinking excessively and taking pictures (as well as dancing, flirting, and playing beer pong as has been reported) doesn't make you an adulterer; it makes you a creeper.

It has not been reported he is with friends or colleagues (hee hee) having a drink. He is a 31? year old husband and father of 8. Is he not being advised that his reputation is all he has for the show/income? The show is supposed to be about a regular married couple and their struggle raising a large family. He is not a traditional celebrity who can somewhat tarnish his reputation as a family man, he's not an actor. The speaking engagements and books are based on their faith. They want to put God and Jesus first. No religion (that I am aware of) condones being drunk in a bar with a bunch of college girls without your wife or any friends or family as witnesses are claiming he was. It is weird; and creepy to me.

I know nothing about their marriage, but I would be humiliated if he were my husband, and in my opinion he needs to have some handlers if his decision making skills are as poor as they appear to be. The reports I have read and heard seem to be from people who have witnessed his behavior in the last few weeks, right? This will all come out in the wash one way or another.

I'm curious what you have seen on TV or read (I'm assuming you don't know them) that leads you to believe they have a good marriage, or that the kids have a great life? Are you referring to their material wealth? I couldn't say one way or the other how their real life is, or their marriage.

Jon and Kate belong to an Assembly of God church. This is the official stance on alcohol from the church:

As you can see, it is not to be tolerated by that church. That is why there is an uproar about the drinking.

I was thinking this morning about seeing Kate. What if it turns out I actually like her? Will people believe what I have to say about the speaking engagement? I'd like to think that people here would, since I've been posting on this thread and DIS-ing for a while. But if I emailed my experience to one of the blogs? I wonder what would happen? If I post it on my own blog and it's juicy enough, will another blog pick up on it?

I wish I knew someone at the church involved with bringing Kate here. I'd love to get some scoop. LOL.

I really can't imagine they'll be a chance for questions, unless they're after the service and Kate is taking pics or signing books. And I'd bet there's someone with her who is mindful of what people are saying .. I've seen that mentioned by others who have seen her. I don't know if I'd even get in a line for a picture. That will depend on what my friend wants to do .. seems a little strange to me to do that, being as I'm not a fan. I wouldn't want to take a spot away from someone who actually does like her.

I would never believe so called eye witness reports without evidence..there are enough people out there who can't stand them and think they are the devil incarnate make any such reports extremely unreliable.

All we know for sure is that jon has been out drinking in a bar..we don't know how many nights (the pics i saw were from the same night)..and had his pic taken with a few fans..(who happen to be women)..I can't imagine many men would want their pic taken with him..

It is my opinion that jon and kate have a good marriage and the kids a great life from the shows I have seen...after all that is all any of us has to base our opinions.....I admit I actually like kate.. ....she is not perfect ..she is a good loving mum in my opinion...i honestly can't understand all the hate towards her.

If any of us here are perfect parents..then we should be able to critise kate...but none of our perfect parents.

I know we disagree....i just wanted you to hear from a poor deluded sheeple...LOL...what DOES that stand for??

While I dont think the pictures that we have seen prove he was doing anything innappropriate - I would not be happy about them if I were Kate. Unless she knew about it and he told her he went out, got a little tipsy and took some pics with fans. Cute fans. I can say I would be pretty upset and DH would have lots of explainging to do if I saw pictures of him like that. But that is just the kind of crazy person I am!

Here's my take on the picture's. So far all we have seen are posed fan type shots with young woman which, to me, look like they were taken with a regular flash type camera. And I say this mainly because they are so bright.

Just an aside: I just got a cell phone with a camera and have taken 3 pictures so I really don't know about the full capability's of phone cameras. So they could take pics like this.

If there was any smooching going on I really think those would be the pics we are seeing, not the ones we are. And I really think there are probably more of those type pictures with not so no young cuties, they just aren't on the web where we can see them.


I'm a little confused on the whole being out to a bar thing, I thought he was out near his mother's house and that he was staying with her when this happened.

Anyway I have been to a few bars in my life and I can tell you that at the "old people" bars most of the people are regulars and they are usually above the age of 40. He may have wanted to go someplace where there was a little more action. And as for him being drunk, tipsy, whatever I know several people who get that way on 2 drinks!

Honestly, I know it's pretty presumptuous of myself , but I don't expect you to like her. In all hosesty I wouldn't really expect myself to like her, but I don't think that has much to do with how I see her with her kids, raising 8 kids, and her relationship with her DH. I kinda feel like, in a lot of ways, right or wrong, she's probably sick of the public, and I don't see her as someone who's overly friendly or that makes good first impressions. I know I do a lot of defending J & K, but honestly I don't know that she's someone I would probably be friends with (if I ever knew her in real life,) but for me, it doesn't mean that I'm not going to defend her when I think she's being wrongly accused

Also, I think folks will believe you on your experience with meeting her. I don't really know why they wouldn't.

As for the pictures, I have to agree that if there were "worse" pictures out there we'd have seen them by now or TLC/J&K/someone's paid enough so we'll never see them at this point. Granted, I'm by no means a celebrity or have any experience with anything, just going by what I *think* would happen.

As for the picture with the labels on the family - how incredibly terrible for those kids to see that some day let alone any classmates or older students at this point. I would think J&K have someone/multiple someones looking at things like this and I would hope they would be contacting those sites to have those pictures removed or threaten some sort of legal action. I know nothing's ever really "gone" from the internet once it's there but there has to be a line - regardless of how you feel about the parents.

before I decided to get the tickets, I thought long and hard about why I'd want to see Kate. my reason for going has nothing to do with my dislike for Kate. it really doesn't. like you, I don't expect her to "wow" me with a great first impression... although she might. I read accounts from people that have seen her at different times and sometimes she's very "on" and other times she's not. (much like the show, I guess, LOL)

I am terribly fascinated. That's why I want to go. I want to see her in person, hear her story .. and see what happens. I want to know if some of what I've heard is true, straight from her mouth. There is a part of me that wants to like her enough to change my opinion of the choices they've made for their family.

Madge I am VERY interested to see what you think of her. I actually really like the show and for the most part I like the Gosselins (including Kate) but I have to say that her interaction with people sometimes is..well...a bit weird.
I don't know HOW to explain it but there is something about the way she deals with people (strangers..not family) that strikes me as odd. The only example I can think of off the top of my head was the St. Jude's episode...at one point my sister and I looked at each other and were like HUH?? She just has a strange way of interacting with people.

But my opinion is only based on little spinets here and there because they really don't interact with strangers too much on the show so I could be completely wrong.

I do hope you enjoy it and I will be looking forward to a report!
