The new loews benefits only count your # of stays; they don't care how many nights you stay.

Blue is 2-4 stays in a year.
Gold is 5-9 stays in a year.
Platinum is 10+ stays in a year.

It no longer matters how many nights you have.

Someone who has 2 stays of 6 nights each for a total of 12 nights per year is Blue.

But someone who stays 5 times for 1 night each for a total of 5 nights is Gold.

How the heck does that make sense?

From the website:

A stay is defined as all consecutive nights at one hotel, even if the Member checks out and checks back in during those dates. The Member must reserve the room in the Member’s name and stay overnight.

For Universal people, the only option to accumulate your stays is to do a resort switch, e.g., stay one night at RPR, then switch over to PBH -- that would count as 2 stays. Ridiculous.

Think this is asinine?

Please write to Loews and tell them: info@youfirst.loewshotels.com

And I just logged in to check my profile...no more is there a section to select your welcome gift or your preferred bed type...

I just shot off an e-mail to

Ms. Emily Goldfischer

to express my disappointment. We always stay at Universal even when we are visiting Disney just to maintain that wonderful suite upgrade for our family of 5.

Hate to sound cynical, but I doubt the letters will do much good. they have obviously weighed the pros and cons, knowing they will get slammed with letters, this is a business decision and money talks. The only way they will change this is if they see a signifigant change in bookings. It really sucks that they are screwing their loyal customers this way, but "thems the breaks". I will continue to stay onsite because of the FOTL perk, that is just to good to give up. ;)

I have already received a response from Ms. Goldfischer to my e-mail this morning.

Loews customer service is outstanding! Suffice it to say, I am happy and very satisfied with Loews response.

popcorn:: so, u care to share the satisfying response;) ?

i called today to switch things around on ressie for Oct. & was told that there would be no exceptions to the new policy other than the grace period, although if u cracked them - good for you!

Receiving a personal response from a VP of Loews addressing and recognizing my concerns within an hour of e-mailing them is the ultimate customer service. It went a very long way in bolstering my loyalty to Loews. I would have been satisfied with that.

But they also sweetened the pot by extending my platinum status for a bit longer than the 12 month grace period.

Let's just say I won't have to worry about our Platinum status for a bit longer than the 12 month grace period.

congratulations, i really mean it!

since i posted above i fired off an email too, maybe i'll get to keep my Gold-en ticket too:wizard: ...@ which point i'd be thrilled

still, a little voice in my head (one that is currently shouting louder than the others;) ); is thinking it's the same-old, same-old squeaky wheel gets the grease:confused3 ...or exactly the thing that caused the program revamp in the 1st place if it's truly an economical issue:confused:

if i lose my platinum status after the next 18 months, i will switch and start using my ap for the room discounts.

i will still stay at the onsite hotels.
maybe

Unless you are a business person who by chance happens to travel to the limited number of cities where there are Loews hotels, it seems almost impossible to maintain the Platinum status. I travel approxiamately 10 per year for business but only 1-2 of those trips are to cities where a Loews hotel is located. I am a Marriott Rewards member and can find a Marriot in every city I go to for business so it is easy to maintain my Silver Elite Marriott status (equivalent to Loews Gold). I do not anticipate they will have many Platinum or Gold members and will have guests choose another frequent traveler program. I have stayed 10 nights during three trips this year at Universal. It seems unfair that I only get credit for 3 stays. I also sent an email earlier this morning to Ms Goldfisher but have not heard back from her. Goofy's email must hav ebeen much more articulate than mine was since she received a response.

Well at least you all can sign in. I guess they dumped my account since we didn't use it last year. I have received al these emails telling me I have blue status till January '09 but when I try to accessthe site my email/password combo is no good and I get the "you'll receive something by email within 5 days" message when I use my Loews First number and email address.

I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers, it was not my intention. :)

I guess you were the lucky one, I didn't receive a response to my email, but received an automated email explaining to me that I had until January 2009 to keep my platinum status. So they are extending everyone the 18 months I guess, or just platinum members. :confused3

I agree they do have outstanding customer service, it is one of the big reasons I will continue to stay at Loews. My point was, letter writing wouldn't do to much good in changing anything, the fact for myself at least is, after the grace period this platinum member will be downgraded. I will go from gold, to blue, to member since I usually only go 1 week or longer a year, sometimes two with DH's work permitting. I think is stinks, but I will continue to stay with Loews as they are a beautiful resort with great customer service and FOTL access. :thumbsup2

How can we get them to change from stays to nights if we let the cat out of the bag??

I also received an automated email saying that I would retain my Blue status until January 09. Our next stay is in February. Just my luck.

No feathers ruffled. Sorry if my e-mail sounded short. I was in a hurry getting out the door typing it. I was just very surprised to have somebody address personally address my concerns so quickly!

My e-mail is different in that the year is completely different.

My automated e-mail (not the one from the Loews person) stated that my status was extended to January, 2010 not 2009. This follows what they said before that you would get a 6 month grace period and then another 12 months of your status.

From the automated e-mail:
As a loyal guest, you're automatically enrolled in YouFirst as a Platinum member until January 1, 2010. Get full details on your Platinum YouFirst benefits at loewshotels.com/youfirst

Well, then I guess you are luckier than me or Tizzy_Meliss. :thumbsup2 Congrats on that. I hope others are as lucky...or not as unlucky as me!

Just confused. (But that is not unusual for me ) Tizzy_Meliss mentions she has the 18 month extension, but says the year says 2009.

Is it 6 months or 18 months or is it different for everybody even within the same level?

Mine says January 1 2009, and then stay just once and have it extended until January 1 2010. Theres no way I can maintain it. 10 stays. Yeah right. I might try to get in one stay in Nashville overnight just to hold it for a year longer, but thats it.

Anyone else notice the magic date of 2010? Key word magic.

I'll be using my AP for sure.

So is everyone extended to 2010 or just if you send an email? We stay at Loews Hotels all over North America because of their great program. We won't anymore if this is the case. I'll just look for the cheapest hotel instead.

I sent an email. I wonder how many they are getting.

Sorry for the confusion, I may have read it wrong, it says you are automatically enrolled until 2009, extend it an additional 12 months with one stay.

So I read that to mean, I am platinum until Jan 2009, 6 months from now, if I stay before that time they will extend it another year, making it 2010. Am I reading this wrong?? I am sooooooooooo confused!!! :headache:
