We just purchased a 60 point add-on at VWL.

We bought from Disney, and even though we have an August use year, they're giving us 2005 points and we'll be able to bank all of them.

 :cheer2: :woohoo: :cool1: :jumping1:

Congratulations 1000th!

Just for info, what was the price, and did you have to pay extra for the '05 points?

The price was $92 per point, but Disney pays all closing costs. Also, maintenance fees are pro-rated for the year. We didn't have to pay anything extra to get the 2005 points.

I did an analysis back in January and found that to equal the price on a small transaction like this, I would have to buy the points for about $85.50 each via resale. The difference is the closing costs. And it looks like Disney's been buying up all the small resales lately.

And my guide confirmed that the price of sold out resorts are also going up the end of this month, so we wanted to get our purchase in before that.

What's nice is we'll have the same use year as our OKW contract.

congratulations..but you might not want to see me dance...pretty scary.

I just received a voice mail from my guide that our 50 BCV waitlist just came through. Does anyone know what happens if we decide not take these? Thanks

Congratulations!!! I just bought a 100-point add-on at VWL on Tuesday afternoon. The points appeared in my account last night.

I thought it was standard procedure to get the current-year points when you purchase an add-on. I've only been on the DVC boards since last summer but it seemed like every post I read about people adding on, they were getting current Use Year points but only paying pro-rated dues on those points as well. Nice deal!

Also, even though you have an August UY and are past your 100% banking deadline, those 60 2005 UY points get pooled with your other points for the purposes of banking. If you have banked fewer than half of your original points minus 30 points, then you had enough "headroom" to bank those 60 points by your 50% banking deadline of April 30. I think it's great that we get to pool these add-on points for the purposes of banking. It makes it so much easier to manage owning points and more than one resort!

Yeah...maybe I get them!!! ;)

Seriously, they just offer them to the next person on the list, and you are out no money.

Just curious...what was your UY, and when did you get on the waitlist?

Got my points today and immediately called Member Services and banked 2005, then booked a week in a VWL studio Dec 8-15. Also booked one night in a VWL studio on October 29 (we already have a two-bedroom reserved 10/30-11/3, but I wanted to add an extra night to our trip).

I'm one happy camper right now :sunny:

Welcome Home VWL Neighbors!

Wow, three new neighbors in one week! :woohoo:

(Had to retype this whole thing) Congratulations!!!! I also did some add ons last month (February).... my UY is March. I added 60 BWV and 90 VWL (In 2 contracts 30 & 60). I also got 2005 points and didn't have to pay 2005 dues with the 2006 dues prorated. I was able to bank the 2005 points since they were new contracts. I was also on the waitlist (only for a little less than a month) for 90 BCV points that went through March 1 so no 2005 points with that one. I wonder if I will have to pay the 2006 dues for the BCV, since I didn't have to pay 2005 dues with the other contracts. I am also still on waitlist for 30 BWV points. And just started resale process on 150 HH. I definetly caught the add on bug! But thats ok I love Disney!

Yea my post went through.... don't know what was wrong, why it wouldn't let it through before... It kept saying I couldnt post URL... but I wasnt posting URL? Weird. :confused3

Congratulations on getting those BCV points so quickly. Re: whether you will have to pay any 2006 dues, I expect that you will. Since dues are paid on a calendar year basis, they cover part of the current year points and part of the next UY's points. So for a March UY, your 2006 dues cover 2/12ths of the points from your 2005 UY and the 10/12ths of your 2006 UY points. Since you are receiving all of the 2006 points and have use of them starting Mar 1st, I expect you will owe pro-rated 2006 dues starting from that time. By paying dues from Mar 1st, you aren't paying for anything you did not get, but you aren't getting anything for free, either -- just breaking even.

Good luck getting the 30 BWV points you are looking for and with your HH resale!
