Thank you! I can’t believe that I haven’t gotten sucked into this long before now.It is streamed live on You Tube. You can go back and watch it from several different channels.
Shes violent. No doubt she hurt herself going after Johnny. She did show pictures of herself with bruises on her face and a cut lip at the end of her testimony today. Not sure what to make of that.
I believe that it was brought up before that her and her sister would do these injuries just to take pictures of them. Not once did any police or medical professional see any injuries on her.Thank you! I can’t believe that I haven’t gotten sucked into this long before now.
Is this the photo she used to get the restraining order? The one that no one, including three LEO, doorman, etc. saw any marks, swelling, bruising, etc for two days? They appeared when she went to file. She did show pictures of herself with bruises on her face and a cut lip at the end of her testimony today. Not sure what to make of that.
I don't get how the people on this thread (and elsewhere) are so sure about what did or didn't happen. This is all his word vs. hers, with no real eyewitnesses to abuse, and they obviously both have major issues. Johnny Depp was notorious for drunken/drug filled rages leading him to trash hotel rooms decades before he met Amber Heard. And Amber Heard obviously has issues of her own. I don't find either of them completely credible, but at the same time, I can't completely rule out either's testimony. I suspect that because Johnny Depp is much more famous and many people grew up watching him, they naturally sympathize with him over her. I find them both unsympathetic, and think it's impossible to know what happened. Their respective testimonies cancel each other out, their respective psychologists' testimonies cancel each other out, etc. At the end of the day, it's a matter of, who do you like more? A lot of people like Johnny more, or at least are much more familiar with him, so they assume he's the victim. I suspect there was some mutual violence fueled by drugs and mental illness, but again, it's impossible to really know.I have only listened to a few moments here/there (a little of him, a little of her) and I never read her OpEd. But I do have a question. Isn't it possible that they were both abusive? Perhaps she "worse" than he, but given he someone who dealt with substance issues, I'm not sure how you can rule out things he did but can't recall?

If I were on the jury, I would not award either party any money.
There doesn't need to be a consistent pattern of abuse from partner to partner. My ex was abusive to me, but not to his previous or later partner. He had a particular rage against me, because he strongly pressured me to have an abortion and I refused, and he never forgave me for that, and sometimes exploded violently until I finally got out. I have to maintain minimal contact with him for custody reasons, and even post-relationship he continued being verbally abusive and controlling, to the extent that I've had to have an attorney do multiple cease and desists and we now no longer speak at all, can only communicate via text/email. To his friends and family, he's a great guy.I guess it really comes down to, does a person have a right to go public and ruin someone's career with heavily veiled accusations. First, she only got her platform for her opinion piece because of who she is and who she was likely writing about. You or I could not get that. Second, if I was in a relationship with someone who pushed my buttons to some extent as apparently she did and drove me to behaviors I was not proud of, I doubt I'd let her off the hook either for basically slandering my reputation.
You're right of course that it's a "he said, she said" thing but Johnny Depp is not a young man, has been in several long term relationships and there's not a hint of this in his past. There's a first time for everything, but he doesn't demonstrate the pattern of an abuser so in that regard I tend to lean toward him in this case. And I do wonder how far someone can publicly go against another person to continue some horrible relationship antics.
The upside for Johnny is that he is clean now, supposedly. Amber is a leopard with harder spots to change.I wonder if Johnny now regrets filing the defamation suit to begin with.
Now their toxic relationship and dirty laundry is front and centre for the world to see. It feels like a no win for either of them at this point, to me anyways.
Amber comes across as scheming and manipulative and Johnny comes across as a drunk, drug-addled jerk.
It is not because "we like him more". I have listened to what was being said and the recordings, etc. She very much pushed his buttons and instigated things. She would start recording and then start picking at him when she knew that he was upset about something else. She constantly wanted to "trap" him to show that he is "violent". Who does that? Not to mention the amount of lies that she has been caught out on shows that she is a habitual liar. Nobody believes that Johnny is some kind of saint here, like you seem to think. But we see through her lies. I have known people like her. They are VERY good at manipulating, twisting things around, playing the victim, and getting people to believe them. They have no moral compass and have no problem ruining someone's life if they feel slighted by them. Anybody who has had experience with these types of people can see it immediately. And even if it was "mutual combat", she has no right to make it out as if she were the victim and he the only perpetrator, which is what she is trying to do. That alone makes her OpEd an issue. He very much should be awarded compensation for her lies. Oh, and he was battered. The amount of bruises and cuts that he has from her are well documented AND witnessed. She has zero marks on her.I don't get how the people on this thread (and elsewhere) are so sure about what did or didn't happen. There are many YouTube streams. Is this trial on tv?
Yes, both she and the ACLU trotted her out as a spokesperson for domestic violence, even timing her op-Ed to coincide with the release of her movie for maximum exposure. Meanwhile she is very much a player and a perpetrator? That’s a lot of crap.It is not because "we like him more". Did you match her pictures with her testimony? She described him as out of control hitting and punching her (he always wears huge rings on his fingers so that would be even worse). She said she broke her nose. Her face should be a swollen mess if her story is true. Yet…..She did show pictures of herself with bruises on her face and a cut lip at the end of her testimony today. Not sure what to make of that.
I am watching it on the Legal Bytes stream which I enjoy because a panel of lawyers (and sometimes a nurse or behavioral expert joins them) provides commentary during the frequent lulls when the lawyers go to sidebar. I was once a lawyer (not a trial lawyer though) and this satisfies that part of me that was so fascinated with the law even as I didn’t much like being a lawyer.Thank you! I can’t believe that I haven’t gotten sucked into this long before now.
I am sure of what I have been witness to watching during this trial and that without any evidence to support her claims Johnny is surely awarded his career back.I don't get how the people on this thread (and elsewhere) are so sure about what did or didn't happen.
