Johnny Depp Trial

I kind of have been thinking about that too. I mean, he is complaining about her tantrums but he married someone young enough to be his daughter.

From what I’ve seen and heard her tantrums aren’t age related, they’re from her mental health issues. Borderline Personality Disorder is difficult to treat because meds generally don’t work. Intensive therapy is usually required but the patient has to commit and cooperate with the therapy and that’s up to Amber.

Yeah nothing I've read should realistically lead anyone to think it has to do with age (as if age makes someone do the things she's done), so much of what has transpired would only really be age related in terms of onset of mental illness.

Sorry- you’re age shaming him????
You described him as being "young". I pointed out that he isn't.

Are you joking, with these posts? I haven't been following this thread closely enough to notice. Maybe add a wink emoji?

So back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Did anybody see this video clip? It's a bit long, but the psychologist goes into a pretty great explanation of things. The MMPI is pretty much a gold standard of personality/psychological test measures.

I also watched a video clip yesterday in which the defense attorney hammered the psychologist over muffins. It was obvious that the defense attorney was trying to imply that the psychologist's husband bought the muffins specifically for Amber Heard, when in actuality, the psychologist's husband only knew that his psychologist wife was doing an assessment that day of SOMEBODY (did not know WHO it was for)...and he regularly got muffins for his wife to bring into the office on client assessment days.
I was fascinated on how she described the way they test personality traits. I feel like she explained exactly why Amber heard behaved the way she did. At the same time she validated and vetted Johnny's testimony of Amber. It just made perfect sense.
It was the only angle the defense had to try and discredit her so her findings are thrown out.

You could see that Amber was clearly not happy about it. The more she writes, the harder she tries to not hear it. I feel she has a novel written by now

I haven't read the whole thread but I've been reading the summaries from the trial online. They are both nutty but I think the pooper is the nuttier of the two. I hope the trial ends soon and we can stop hearing all the gross details. Yes, I know I don't have to read them, but they are so outrageous it is hard not to do so.

Amber Heard's lawyers are in a court of law using whatever courtroom tactics are available to them to try to win a legal battle in a court of law. The problem with this that Johnny Depp's team clearly made their number one objective winning the court of public opinion. This was never about 50 million $ for him. This is about his image, reputation and sense of self worth. From day one his team has been aware of and controlling the optics. They probably spent 100s of thousands of dollars on the image plan alone. Their PR team is stellar, and is clearing working closely with his law team. Amber Heard's PR team deserved to be fired.

Important Optic- In a case where 2 people are accusing each other of abuse and claiming to be the one abused, JD is placed between 2 lawyers that are constantly checking on him, touching him, showing affection for him. He looks "protected" which is how one would handle their abused client or friend. And since he is both abused and accused of abusing, the other part of this optic is that they appear to feel safe with him. Smiling, hugging, touch. Amber is placed on the end of her legal team. A forgotten appendage. No one ever checks on her to see how she is holding up under the strain of "reliving her abuse" She appears cold, and her team appears cold. This an enormous mistake.

Important Optic- JD's law team has a good guy row and a bad guy row. The lawyers in the back row are in charge of objections and looking serious and slowing down the progress. The front row is in charge of looking likeable. This allows the front row to connect with the cameras and audience, without being perceived as intense. The good guy row is associated with JD.

Important Optic- Amber looks serious all the time because this is an abuse case. In any normal courtroom abuse is considered a very serious and sober topic, and she has been advised as such. As the trial has progressed, JD's team of lawyers and PR have clearly worked together to read the room (the internet) and realize they can get away with treating the opposing counsel as if they are a joke, and that it fits nicely with their objective. This is evidence that they are reacting daily to how they are being perceived. Again, this case has both sides claiming to be victims of abuse while also being accused of being an abuser. His team didn't start out laughing and looking like they are having fun because that would not be a normal optic in an abuse case. They read and reacted to the public perception, and did this on a daily and constant basis.

Important Optic- Amber's clothing, hair, etc. The smart move would be to emphasize her femininity and make her appear vulnerable. Instead, she is wearing pantsuits more often than not. She often wears her hair up. She is dressed like a no nonsense corporate executive. Women for years dressed that way to erase any sense of vulnerability from their appearance. She is attempting to both deny being an abuser and convince that she was a victim. Her PR team should be telling her to project every single ounce of vulnerability she can. She should be wearing dresses, soft clothing, loose hair and looking sad. She's an actress for heaven's sake, she ought to be able to pull this off. And that's not even addressing the way her appearing to copy JD's wardrobe is being perceived as a complete mind tactic, and makes her look aggressive and mean.

Her PR team deserved to be fired for not fixing all of this very early on in the trial. It will be interesting to see if she manages to get any new help and what they can do to attempt to change things.

Interesting points on how Amber presents herself. Especially in a case that revolves about reputation.

It's been interesting to see. Loved the psychologist's testimony about personality disorder, and how deftly she handled questioning. Heard's legal team seems like they're looking for every piece of low-hanging fruit they can find, and trying to bulldoze their way to victory. I was pleased to see some of their lines of questioning receiving some laughter from Depp and/or his legal team.

Depp handing a doodle to his lawyer:

Fans bring alpacas, lots of alpacas.

Someone asks Heard the Question:

She teaches witnesses how to testify. She failed with Amber. Ms. Heard is a very bad actress.

Line of the trial so far to me is attractive doctor/analyst asking if we can stop talking about Muffins.
To some degree the muffins would have been important had they been able to prove Dr. broke HIPPA, but (IMO)they failed and looked really stupid in trying.

Interesting- from her testimony today google tells me she went to the top Catholic high school here in Austin. Very posh but produces a whole lot of druggies and ne'er do wells. I wonder how it shaped her perspective coming from the tiny country community of Manor. Manor is always in the news for all the wrong reasons.

I agree with what @Embel said about Amber’s clothing and hair. I think that people should dress decently when in a courtroom, but does she think that people are stupid? In court she‘s trying to look like the school-marm while everyone knows she’s capable of dressing quite provocatively, as she often did in her marriage to Depp. And it’s bizarre how she’s mimicking what Johnny wears - as I understand it from some of the articles I’ve read lately, that can be a symptom of borderline personality? That I never knew, but it makes sense.

I saw something about the outfit mirroring too. And Dr. Curry did mention that people with BPD have a tendency to take on the interests of others to gain acceptance.

I think that AH has some serious mental issues. Nobody is saying that JD is perfect, but I don't believe for one second that he physically abused her. The fact that she secretly records him and starts prodding him just to get a reacting is very disturbing. Like the video of the day that he found out his previous financial team stole a ton of money from him. She started recording him and saying things to get a reaction when he was already mad, to make it look like he was violent with her. Not only is she the aggressor here, she does it intentionally to be able to get "proof" of it. That is a very diabolical person. I come from an abusive home, you don't poke the bear.
