Johnny Depp is in Disney World

He has been known to dress in full costume and do the parade and a few appearances, but never just roamed the park. He does usually do at least one Mnsshp parade each year, usually very close to, if not on Halloween night.

Now that would be a REAL TREAT!!! Because we will be there HALLOWEEN NIGHT!!!! And my DS9 has his costume all ready, and YES HE WILL BE DRESSED AS JACK SPARROW!!!

My information doesn't come from a link, but rather a family member that works for the parks. If you recall he appeared as Sparrow at the first D23 event unannounced. And then there was that time last Oct when a 9-year-old London girl who invited him via a letter to come visit her school, that prompted him to in fact go visit her school in full costume. And nobody knew about it but the kids and school officials.

I'm going to have to have my daughter invite him to her school.

We home school. Muahahahaha. Why hello Mr. Depp...

Ugh! We don't get in until Friday! And we're going to the 10/31 party. Noooo!!!:headache:

Bummer...too bad you're going to miss him. I plan on asking him over to my place for some Rum cookies and then a couple of rousing choruses of kumbayah! I'm pretty sure that by the end of the evening we will be like family. Can't wait! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

I can't imagine Disney World allowing a star of his status roaming around the park. Can you imagine the chaos that would create? WDW would be dealing with a mob. I just don't see them setting themselves up for that. The security involved would be off the charts. That's just my opinion. But for those of you who would be fortunate to see him in a parade or a meet and greet of some kind - LUCKY YOU! I am jealous.

If he "roams" in the appropriate areas in full costume, noone will ever know it's him and not a CM dressed up. They have quite a few that are dead ringers for him when they have the makeup on. The problem will come if word gets out and guests act like fools. I think it'd be fun if he replaced one of the animatronics in POTC like he did when it first opened for a few rides. That would surprise some people.

I highly doubt that a man who feels the way below would be dressing up and roaming WDW with people knowing..He is as private as they come when it comes to actors..(That is why he lives in France.)

Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp thinks there is something wrong with stars who get used to being famous, and says he is still dealing with his celebrity lifestyle.

The 48-year-old actor, who shot to fame on 1984 movie Nightmare on Elm Street, says he is very uncomfortable about being well known, reported Contactmusic.

"I'm still sort of dealing with it. I don't think it's anything you ever get used to ... for many years I could never sort of put my name in the same sort of category as the word "famous" or anything like that. And I just found it very uncomfortable ... if you get used to it, then something must be wrong ... There's got to be still a part of you that - somewhere in there that pines for anonymity," he said.

Depp, who has two children, Lily-Rose, 12, and nine-year-old Jack with long-term partner Vanessa Paradis, is hoping his kids will appreciate him as a father rather than a novelty actor.

"I don't want my kids to experience me as a novelty. I want my kids to know me as dad, you know. And already, you know, if they have access to the internet or whatever, I mean they understand what the deal is. But I don't want them to have to live through and experience that kind of attack. I don't go out very much. I stay at home a lot. Or when you go out to eat, you know, you've got to - it becomes a strategic sort of plan," he added.

There's no way I could tell the real Johnny Depp from the ringers in costume unless they were side by side... but the women here could probably tell the difference! I've always been impressed by how consistently accurate the Capt. Jack CMs are. Other characters (with less makeup?) really vary quite a bit.

Im here now and will keep my eye out for a Jack sighting.

How fun. DIS needs pictures.

And, it wouldnt be Johnny Depp roaming the parks- it would be his character Jack Sparrow. Im sure he would be in full character the whole time and wouldnt entertain ideas that he was someone else. Thats what is so amazing about method actors like Depp- they can take it to a whole different level.

What a great treat for anyone who sees this. Pictures PLEASE!

Every year, someone posts "on good authority" or "from a family member in the know" or "based on very reliable information" that Johnny Depp will be appearing at one of the MNSSHPs as Jack Sparrow.

It never happens.

Despite every story to the contrary, Johnny Depp has NEVER appeared as a "surprise" as Jack Sparrow at any MNSSHP. He has dressed as Jack Sparrow for various events at DisneyLAND, but they were all scheduled events and appearances based on his promotion of the various Pirates films.

This rumor pops up every year. I imagine this year it's part of the push for people to purchase the new Pirates movie, available on DVD/Blu-Ray this month.

I could totally spot the difference. While we have seen some awesome performances and good make up on CMs at WDW - none of them have ever actually looked like him, IMO. We got great photos of the guy in this years Boo to You parade, and my son even had some fun with him the last night we were there and I can guarantee - he sure wasn't Johnny Depp.

OOOMMMGGGGG

I SOOOOOOO wish I was at the parks right now!!! How I would LOVE to see Cap'n Jack!!!! :lovestruc

My DD is down there on her CP, working at the HM - I'll give her a call later and have her do some on the spot investigative reporting :thumbsup2.

We are at WDW now and going to the party on 10/25. You can bet that I will be on the lookout during the MNSSHP parade.

You only think that. He has actually appeared as a guy pretending to be Johnny Depp pretending to be Jack Sparrow. Or something. ;)

I could actually see him doing this. I bet that someone would catch on though.

Far be it for me to inject any logic into this discussion but ... why? Why would a guy who so enjoys his private life in Europe, drag himself to Walt Disney World so that he could dress up as a character he's spent most of the past several years being and wander through a Halloween party? He has no history or reputation of being someone who thrives on sneaking around as a character while everyone else is oblivious. He has no history of doing this type of thing anywhere, in any role ever -- including roles that would just BEG for a "surprise appearance" somewhere, like, say, Willy Wonka.

On top of that ... why would Disney allow it unless they were going to promote the heck out of it as a way to sell out Halloween parties. I mean ... if he's "unannounced", what's to stop there from being two Jack Sparrows on the street at the same time? And if Depp decides he's just going to wander around on his whim throughout the party, how does Disney schedule when and where their Jack can Meet & Greet with Guests? And honestly ... I can't see Johnny Depp being so unprofessional as to decide that just because HE wants to wander around a theme park dressed as a pirate for a night, every other aspect of where or when Jack Sparrow appears -- and the efforts of the other folks who portray him -- will need to be adjusted and rescheduled. Depp has never shown himself to have that kind of ego.

I'm thinking either OP's source is non-existent and OP is just having fun, or someone is playing a "trick" and not a "treat" on OP's source. (Which is how the rumor gets started every year. It's a popular urban legend at MK.)

Why? Because Johnny Depp has historically done such things. He's quirky and sometimes playful and he likes to do unusual things. He wouldn't disrupt anything but would appear instead of someone who would still be paid. I do agree that Disney wouldn't be happy with it though.
