Hi all! I'm leaving tomorrow for Disneyland and we arrive at the John Wayne Airport. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle to Disneyland to and from the airport or not? Thanks!!!

Yep, there are several options since this is the closest airport to Disneyland. You will have no troubles finding one. The official shuttle is called the Disneyland Resort Express, but there are plenty of third party ones as well.

Disneyland Resort Express is just GrayLine (bus). There are shuttle companies you can contact....we generally use PrimeTime. Taxi can be a good option as well ($40 ?). Just depends how many in your party and if you want direct / no stops or fewer stops. It's easy, not far away at all!

Just want to point out that none of these options are free if that's what you were looking for!

Thanks so much guys!!!! We had spent so much time researching and had gotten nowhere, guess I should've came here first!! :)

Depending on the ages in your group and the need for car seats, either the Disney express bus or taxi are your best bets. If you don't need car seats the taxi is by far the easiest and cheapest option. There are plenty waiting outside the terminal and it was less than 50$ including tip. We took the plunge and did it last year and it was so quick and easy.

Taxi may be one of the easiest, but not always the cheapest. Cheapest depends on how many people are in a specific party. For my family of 3, a taxi would be $40 more round trip. Taxis are only cheaper once you go above the family pass rate on Disneyland Resort Express ($99 for 5 people, I believe).

From SNA a family pass is $80.00 plus tax(?) and fuel surcharge... which is about the same as a taxi cost.

The cost for 2 adults and 1 child round trip would be $ 29 x 2 + $ 21 x 1 plus fuel surcharge. This is just based on the website price without any coupons.

It's really about the same price without coupons and even with the coupons it's not that much different.

To me, even if the taxi is a few dollars more the fact that I can grab a taxi right away without worrying if I've missed the departure time for the Express shuttle and it's a straight shot to my hotel with just my party makes it well worth it.

Maybe I shouldn't have said cheapest but I feel it's kind of splitting hairs when you take into account getting to your hotel as quickly as possible. Time is money... or in the case of Disneyland, Time is time away from the Park. :goodvibes

Keep in mind that DL Express or any other shuttle you can be waiting a bit for departure and may have a few stops before you get to your destination. Taxi is point to point with no additional delays.

Does Disneyland Express stop at all hotels?

Where does it stop first? I am hoping DLH.

I just had a couple fly into SNA and we were supposed to meet up for a dinner reservation. They were a bit tight on time and I told them to cab it over. Well, they decided to save $8.00 (round trip that is) and take the DL express. We were stating at the Grand...they sat at the airport for a while then they stopped at PPH first, DL hotel next, GCH last. They missed the dinner seating time. Unfortunately they didn't know the resort well enough to know to get off at the PPH hotel and cross over when they were running late.

Super Shuttle is $10 per person - much cheaper than Disneyland Express. We are using them tomorrow for the first time. Also, pretty sure there are coupons out there....just haven't had time to check yet.

I've never flown out of John Wayne... but I am sure the Disneyland Resort Express services them too! I highly suggest putting them in mind for your Disneyland/Anaheim Resort Area transportation needs! They are pretty cheap, fast, friendly, fun and best of all... comfortable!! Just think of it as a paid version of Disney's Magical Express at WDW. It is a similar experience and it is always magical to see a big Disneyland themed bus pick you up from the airport -- it is an awesome way to start your vacation at the Disney Parks! :thumbsup2

Hi all,
Great thread! I'm researching this myself for our trip in Aug. We'll have an infant and a 3 year old but no car seats. I'm nervous about using taxi and wondering what options might include car seats? We could do the Disneyland Resort Express since it's a big bus, but we get in around 3pm when they only run every hour. I'm worried we might be stuck waiting for a while at the airport. What would you guys suggest? We'll be 3 adults, plus the two little ones. We fly into John Wayne, staying at Disneyland hotel.
Thanks!

The round trip price for 2 adults and 1 child on the DLRE is $27+$27+$18 = $72 without coupons, or $22+$22+$13 = $57 with coupons. That's significantly cheaper than a round trip taxi ride, and that's assuming you tip equally. Most people tip taxi drivers more than silent bus drivers.

However, I'll admit taxis are likely easier, since John Wayne Airport forces you to walk up to a half mile from the baggage claim to the DLRE terminal. And if you are not a DLR guest, I would be annoyed at the DLR guest drop off, which takes a few minutes at each place.

That is more expensive that Disneyland Express. Round trip for a family of 4 is $70 with coupons, or $8.75 per person per way on average.

It's $11 per person per way for adults and $6.50 per person per way for kids.

Don't fret the bus wait. We were there and had about a half hour wait. But after the long walk from the baggage claim, we took our time loading of bags on the bus (which arrives early), relaxed for a minute, and then walked around the airport area in the great climate, including perusing the Disneyland brochures at the information desk. It was nice to reset the batteries after a long day of flying from Texas. The time flew by.

Can anyone tell me if car seats are required in taxis in California?

For California taxis, "any child under 6 years or 60lbs MUST be in an age appropriate child restraint. So for a 2 year old, that means a 5 point harness car seat."
