a lot of people like to think autism doesn't exist or the "my child" syndrom kicks in (MY CHILD can't be autistic!)
its because autism is so different with each case. some are extremely high-functioning and almost like normal children, and others cannot interact at all. so people like to think that the higher functioning is
"just a little slow", and the lower functioning is something way worse.
what i love is when people who know really nothing about human psychology try to argue that real disorders don't exist.
