I just found it a few weeks ago and now have it on my DVR line-up. Just watched one this weekend where the husband was totally selfish and refused to change. That was a first, and I have to wonder if that couple is still together.

Though I have to admit that I don't pause it to personally examine their spending. :lmao:

I saw that one - I kept yelling "dump him, dump him". I guess this is my version of watching football....

You have to pause it when she first shows the computer screen but before she starts circling stuff. I love it when she goes through and shows them they shop on every single day - multiple times a day - and their shocked. I think I would mortified if someone other than Kevin knew EXACTLY what I spent my money on - it's so personal - and these people have it all out there for everyone to see - I love it!!!

Gail Vaz-Oxlade has a another show that started this week in Canada called Princess. She starts with how this is not a "Princess" anywhere related to monarchy (or Disney princess) . If I am not mistaken in this one she breaks down the spending habits even moreso when it is just one person than when she looks at a couple.

We watch it, too. I just wish there was a follow up at the end to let us know how the couple is doing after about 6 months or one year later.

I'm glad to see that someone else likes to pause the show to look at the spending line by line.... Did you see the episode last year where the couple didn't get anything because of the husband's attitude? He was so rude to Gail. I too would like to see a followup show to see how the families are doing - kind of like when Clean House goes back a year later.:goodvibes

I wish they would do a follow-up episode where she goes back like 6 months later and finds out how their doing - and takes the money back if they are messing up.

Was that the one where they kept saying that Gail touched them? They had the worst attitude and all they could say was that Gail had touched them and that was the issue.........whiners.

I've watched this show for a while now and think it's great. I like that she gives them challenges to work through together because a lot of new couples have no idea about how to join their individual spending and have completely different habits, both in spending and in tracking (or not tracking) their budgets. Gail has several books out as well that I picked up for our work training library.

I've been a fan of Gail's for a while. What I really like about her show, is that it is not just about the money, it is also about the relationship. A lot of people use money as a substitute or a security blanket when their relationship with their SO needs work. She tries to get the couples to look at their relationship as well.

I need to watch this - looks right up my alley!

The show I would LOVE to see is "House Hunters - Foreclosure Follow Up". I can hardly watch that, and other HGTV shows without getting sick for these people.

That would be almost any of the shows about selling the house...I especially like "Real Estate Intervention." That's why I like "Property Virgins" though I don't watch it much, she seems to try to help people be a little more realistic about what they can actually live with.

I like the show. It's good counter-programming to all the sometime irresponsible HGTV house and design "consumer porn".

But Gail has the oddest accent. Does anybody know what it is?

I agree about House Hunters - I try not to talk to the tv on a daily basis..... but when I watch people spend $500,000 for a one bedroom apartment hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles from their home where they'll spend 4 weeks a year AND which has $500 a month association dues ....I'm yelling, "do you know how much that is a night????". But, I keep watching....

I can not watch till debt do us part.... Hits to close to home. If I watched it I might talk myself out of our annual Disney trip. :rotfl2:

OMG yes--House Hunters International! A huge percentage of those people seem to be buying faraway vacation homes at insane prices. One couple recently lived in the U.K. and was buying a vacation home that they had to take, like, 2 planes, a train, a boat and a camel to get to. How often are you really going to visit that vacation home?!? How are you going to maintain it? Drives me nuts.

But Til Debt Do Us Part rocks! It's right up there with Suze Orman's "Can I Afford It?" segment. I like Clark Howard, but has he ever spent any money on anything, ever? No way he'd be in favor of our Disney addictions. There's another guy I liked but can't remember his name. I think he was bald, wore a couple of big, macho rings, maybe drove a motorcycle, and yelled at people a lot about their stupid spending. He was fun to watch.

Yep, born in Jamaica, moved to Canada in 1977. I sort of was thinking French Canadian, but she comes off so nice :rotfl2:

You're thinking of Larry Winget, the pitbull of personal finance! I miss his show, he really told them like it was and quite a few people sold their truck or house after he went over the numbers.

I liked him too - what a character! - he name is Larry Wingate and he's written some good books. One is entitled something like, "People are Stupid and I can Prove it". He had no pity for overspending.
