John Frieda Foam Colour @ Target

I was at Target last night and saw the John Frieda Colour on a Clearance end cap. It was 50% off, $5.98 each. I have never tried it, but remember seeing others on here who liked it, so I picked up 2 boxes since it was a good price. Went to check out and they gave me a $5 Target giftcard with purchase, and I didn't remember seeing the sign for anything I picked up. I was in a hurry, so didn't realize till I got home that it was for the hair colour. There was also other brands on the clearance endcap, but not sure if you get the giftcard with them. Now I am wondering why they were clearanced. Do you think the expire?
