Okay....Now I'm curious as to who else likes/liked John Denver b/c of the thread about who you'd go back in time to see.

I like John Denver. So do my mom, sister, and grandparents. My dad thinks we're all crazy.

I love John Denver and still listen to his music.

:wave2: John Denver fan here. He had a beautiful voice. When we heard about the plane crash and his death, my DH and I looked at eachother and said, "Well, that's one concert we can scratch off our list of want-to-see-somedays"

We still listen to his music on c.d. Gotta love "Annie's Song".

I like John Denver. About a month before he died he was doing a concert outside of Baltimore. DH and I were at an Orioles game the day of the concert and John was there as well. He got on top of the dugout and sang during the 7th inning stretch. It was neat to see him but took on new meaning when he died so soon after that.

Oops. I take my post back. I was thinking of Glen Campbell. Sorry.

I love John Denver . . .I had an 8 track way back when . . .

I still love those songs he sung. . . .Hmmmmm maybe I'll have DH get me his CD for Xmas.

I love his music too, especially Annie's Song.

John Denver was the first concert I attended many, many moons ago. He is one of my favorites. DH can't stand him.

I saw him in concert at Expo 86. I loved the uniqueness of his voice, his high notes, his love of country and mountain, his poetry set to music. I miss him.

Regardless of the issues he faced in his personal life, he was a GREAT singer. My ds' 8 and 10 both are fans, too!

I use to play all his songs on my guitar. I saw him in Cleveland back in the 70's at the sold-out Coliseum. The opening act was ABBA (remember them?). I think half of that crowd lit doobies as soon as he started singing

No, I did not join them:cool:

While reading all the posts, I got stuck at this one and could not get past it. I was scanning through my mushy brain trying to remember John Denver having a drinking problem. He always came across as more of a "pot aficionado" to me. :3dglasses

we love to listen to John Denver and have one of his cds in the stereo right now. "Annies Song" is our song. A good friend of mine sang it at our wedding, accompianied by a harp. It was beautiful.

He was born in the summer of his 27th year,
coming home to a place he'd never been before.
he left yesterday behind him,
you might say he was born again,
you might say he found the key for every door...

I am the eagle, I live in high country,
in rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky
I am the hawk and there's blood on my feathers...

this old guitar taught me to sing a love song...

I played "an Evening With John Denver" to death...

 I LOVE John Denver, I'm not afraid to admit it.

My parents had a John Denver tape that we listened to on every road trip, from the time I was 3 until I was 18, when I was 19 the tape broke while my parents were out on a drive, the chickens didn't tell me. It was like a member of the family had died.

I make the kids listen to him now, DS loves him, sings Grandma's Feather Bed at the top of his lungs! :teeth:

Another fan here.

To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean, to ride on the crest of the wild raging storm.
To work in the service of life and the living, in search of the answers to questions unknown.
To be part of the movement and part of the growing, part of beginning to understand.
Aye, Calypso, the place's you've been to,
the things that you've shown us, the stories you tell.
Aye, Calypso, I sing to your spirit, the men who have served you so long and so well.

Like the dolphin who guides you, you bring us beside you
to light up the darkness and show us the way.
For though we are strangers in your silent world, to live on the land we must learn from the sea.
To be true as the tide and free as a wind swell, joyful and loving in letting it be.
Aye, Calypso, the place's you've been to,
the things that you've shown us, the stories you tell.
Aye, Calypso, I sing to your spirit, the men who have served you so long and so well.
