Joey's Wish Trip - PTR - Nov 28 - Dec 5

I thought I should add a family picture so you could all see everyone who is going. We are so excited that we were asked to be a recepient family for the Big Give too!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: (yes, we are all bananas -lol!)

I have a few more questions ...

can you easily take snacks into the parks - what about a meal?
does MVMCP sell out early or can we delay buying tickets until a few days before we go?
what about Cirque de Soleil? worth going? can you buy tickets real close to the show date?

I love your family picture. Congrats on the Big Give!!!! We brought in a soft cooler in to Disneyland before with all kinds of snack and water/gatorade. I need to drink 2 Gatorade a day, so plan on bring some in to Disney World.

Glad to hear bringing food into the park is ok! We like to pinch pennies where we can and although this is supposed to be a "go ahead and splurge" kinda trip it still pains us to spend a fortune on food, especially when it's for 6. The other issue we have is that we have one that needs to be gluten free so that adds challenges when eating out as well.

Just can't wait ....

I so know what you mean!!! My cousin has 6 kids, 4-21 and we have been to WDW a few times together for the day. Their grandparents used to live at Ormond beach and we'd visit them for new years. We got to spend several new years day's at WDW - so much fun! BUt, we really brought a ton of snacks and juice boxes into the park and then had a nice dinner usually.

I just wanted to say that Disney has GREAT gluten free options that you may want to research. I have heard lots of folks on the disABILITIES boards say that chefs will make special desserts or food...so it may be something cool that would make them feel special to actually get some of the Disney gluten free stuff.

I think GKTW has some, too - sort of - but Disney supposedly does really great.

I believe you can get a lunch bag from GKTW. I'm not 100%, but I thought I read it somewhere on here. We are a family of 7 so I know what you mean. We will eat breakfast everyday at GKTW, but we will still need to eat dinner. We have ADR at CP, but not sure we can even keep it yet. Website said $22 for lunch, but when I made the reservation...it went up to $26 a person.

Disney is AWESOME when dealing with gluten-free! I have Celiac Disease and I have found nowhere else can accommodate gluten-free like Disney can. I would recommend if you can, try at least one restaurant at Disney. Even Disney's counter service restaurants have things like gluten-free pizza and gluten-free chicken fingers. If you have any question about dining gluten-free in Disney World, feel free to ask! :) I've eaten gluten-free at Disney many times and have probably tried almost all of the different restaurants.

We'll be at WDW during the same time frame...our son is 7, and is also a leukemia survivor. ALL/MLL, no BMT/no matches--but 6 years in remission, 3 1/2 off-treatment. We're celebrating his good health with a big family trip!!

Joey is a supercute kid! Our son had a feeding tube, too, so if an obnoxious first grader walks up to Joey and starts talking about it, that would be him (no tact whatsoever, lol!)

Have a wonderful trip. I've heard such fantastic things about GKTW--hope you enjoy it to the max!

It's funny how kids react to the feeding tube, both ones that have seen it before and those that haven't. Fortunately Joey takes it all in stride and either plays shy or tells them what it's for. He's had it for about a year now, so it's so normal for him & our family, but I still remember how hard it was to see at first.

Great to hear your son is in remission, does he have to be 5 years past treatment to be considered cured? Do you have a ptr going? Are you going on a wish trip as well or have you already done that?

We were all excited to receive our first BIG GIVE gift today. A generous Disney giftcard from the Laxton family!
THANK YOU so very much, my kids were all doing the happy dance :dance3: and also quickly calculating how much they would each get! :)
Here's a picture of them joyfully posing with the card! With 4 kids it's hard to get a good group shot, but you can catch the excitement in all their faces. I think the possibilty of this trip actually becoming a reality is starting to slowly sink in to all of our heads!
