Joey's "Vacation" make a wish

Just found you and joining in. I am mom to a child with autism and another with a rare blood disorder aplastic anemia. Parenting kids with health issues is very tough. I am glad you are getting a wish trip. I cant wait to read all about it!

Waiting Anxiously for our trip dates!!!! I hope I can get linked up on the wish trippers from maroo. Have not had much goings on with the wish but lots of other things. Mainly I have been in a really unsocial mood. Joey had his follow up appt for the strep last month he has another sinus or nose infection lingering from it.. Its crazy but my son does not actually have the coordination to blow his nose! LOL Its not really funny just one of those developemental delay's from chemotherapy. He also can not jump which is so odd. Joey does however excel intellectually above his ability to communicate. Also I did have to let our wish volunteers know my daughters senior prom is April 28th so that week is a no go. But its such a special thing all by itself....Ill probably cry when she leaves with her date. Well I guess Ill keep it brief since I have no MAW news. But I will say The biggest thing Im looking forward to is eating in the restaurants in disney. I want to make sure we have one awesome breakfast...Lunch ..and.. dinner. I waited alot of tables when I was younger and got hooked on eating out (not been easy since joey was born. So Id like to send out a poll what is your absolute faves for each meal.... Im sure we wont be able to splurge to much so Im hoping for enough pixie dust to grant a few wishes!!
Dates soon I hope!!!:surfweb:

sooooo thankful for all who are following just wanted to write back a
P.S. Of XOOOOOXOOOO

Lots of us are waitng to be linked by Maroo. She is MIA as I understand it right now.

Our Wish Coordinator told me how much we'd be receiving for Lunch & Dinner.

I sat down and looked at menus and pricing and figured our budget for food based on that.

We'll be doing 3 Character Breakfasts, 1 Character Lunch and 2 Grown-up dinners during out trip, plus getting quick lunches every day we're out. For our family of 4 that would still leave a little extra in the food budget if we wanted to have one more sit down meal during the trip. We'll be eating breakfast at GKTW 3 days and dinner there 4 nights.

This is great news I was not sure if spending/souvenier money was the same as meal money. How in the world did you decide which places to eat there are hundreds and i don't know where to look or narrow it down!!1

Im pretty clue less!!:confused::rotfl:
Im so happy for your DD where was she treated?

I think it will be easier once you have your dates and figure out which parks you'll be in on which days. Then you can decide if you want a character meal or a quick meal. I've heard lots of great things about Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. I know there are SO many places to choose from and so many great places to eat !!

:rolleyes1
Okay since meeting our wish coordinater (we are her first family???)
we have given all paperwork and are waiting.. I am nervous asking her any info9 because she does not seem to know we have not had discussions about anything but paperwork... so it's not helping my suspense mode. We have had a birthday..a scary case of strep throat and now Im planning a belated B=day party ... Joe has never had a party, Younger siblings or play dates..He was released from isolation in March 2010 we were told his immune system was complete (rare occurance for bone marrow transplants) So we have alot to make up for. Can you guys let me know what resources you used for trip planning? Like free things-rides, best restaurants, how much time is best for each park for a 5 year old boy and 1 roller coaster rider lol.
Also is there anywhere in Universal to see transformers??

Thanks to all for following this low tech fumbling thread

We might see you guys there! We are going to GKTW from April 21-27.
My kids love the Fresh Beat Band. I hope that you are able to do that. What a special treat!

thanks for looking in on my thread Joey and I are very isolated where we live and as i mentioned we were in isolation because of immune problems for a long time we really have no social connections but this year I plan to change all of that. So each reply means so much! It would be great to have any other known families there.

hey do you or anyone else know if harry potter world is included in the disney wish and gktw. My mom and older daughter are dying to know!! It is there WISH!!!! we figured it won't be but other trippers seem to say it is an offerred ticket?

My wish granter is checking like I mentioned we are her first family... I did let her know that grandma is a nurse and needs 1 mo notice. But no nothing more just trying to learn the big giver ropes... And we have not been on our own trip yet. Its easy for me to pick things up families I live in a beach vacation town with lots of soueviniers( hard word to spell) but sun block sun glasses and tshirts and toys are great here !
Kat Thanks for checking back

Yup! It's at the Islands of Adventure park, not the regular universal park- but it is included! They have long lines, but you should be able to do lots with your GAC.

And I love doing Big Gives- so much fun huh? :goodvibes

first, thanks so much for the help with all my questions!!! My mom is the best, hardest working mom ever (grandma t o Joe). Not to bash any of my other family members but she has never been on a real vacation in her whole life, no hotel/resort no plane ride no cruise! bu she has been through the ringer. My sister actually lost custody of all her kids due to mental illness. Giving my mom no visitation because of distance. One grandson is even in missouri. She waited tables for 20 years 2 shifts a day. Then went to nursing school while working mid night shift as a CNA and still waiting tables. She has 3 daughters and of course a grandson with an illness that killed her twin brothers and nephew. Whew---- unbelievable sad story I know but this vacation for her will make her feel complete to for once in her life be not taking care of someone else. One thing she does love is Harry Potter she has read all the books. It was an unimaginable dream when they advertised HPW new park at universal. This today will be our final confirmation she gets to take Joey there. MAW is not just making joe's dreams come true!

When I get dates I will let all know!

What an incredible mom you have and I'm so happy to know she will enjoy this trip so much! I know what you mean by thinking that going to Universal was unimaginable. I felt the same way when I saw the commercials, knowing this was Jaydens dream as well. I'm so grateful for MAW for letting me get the opportunity to see Jayden so happy !

I hope you get dates real soon ! :goodvibes

Any more news yet? :goodvibes

we got it! our first real dates offer may 5- 11! One poss prob. My Daughter senior AP test may 7th. And grandpas bday may 9. My worker is on notice for us to let her know Im hoping my DD can work her test out and grandpa says he has no prob with it so Im sure this is it. I don't want to push any further into hot weather. I was born in florida but acclimated to williamsburg growing up. But we want to do 1 afternoon at a water park not sure which maybe seaworld so we don't miss any disney gonna cheack florida theme park/water park ratings.... wish legoland's was open but its not till june. Anyway cant have it all. Joey's true wish was to meet the fresh beat band at universal in april but it did not happen so since he is a transformer fanatic gonna try to find some... I get the same answer for all my questions from my worker. If we got anyything extra it would take money from other wishes:rolleyes1. Wanted to look into a rental upgradde since (bumblebee) camaros are very common rentals. He would really flip out! I just want to do one thing to personalize his trip (relative willing to pay for upgrade) I really don't want to be selfish. Joe is having a reacurring rash we have not seen since before his transplant (frieghtning) we will have to travel to duke when we get back. i read that another child passed whom we were inpatient on the bone marrow unit with at duke this child passe on his MAW trip the 10th or 11 child out of about 17 we were with. Joey is a true miracle.
On a happier note I guess its time to really figure out this planning
