Ok DVC fam. DW and I have been to the event twice before, and we do love it. We are going to WDW again in October for a long weekend (Thurs-Sun) and I’m having a hard time stomaching the cost with basically nothing new added. We have annual passes so I dont need it to have a park day. I know hardly anything at WDW is really “worth it”, but im curious how those of you that go often in the Halloween and Christmas season approach the holiday parties? Christmas for me is even worse, even though I think the Halloween party is objectively better, i love Christmas so much its basically an auto buy for me lol.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I’ve been to MNSSHP and both Xmas parties many times. I agree they are always the same, yet I keep going if I’m there during the season. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

I saw my first Not So Scary this past Fall. I really enjoyed it. It is not an every-year thing for me. I can imagine seeing it once or twice more over the next 5-10 years, but there are a lot of other things I want to do in the World, and many of those are evening events.

For example, I still haven't seen Cirque in Orlando, though have seen several of their shows elsewhere and really enjoy them. Jaleo and Toledo are both still on my list, though I am going to check off Toledo in June. I haven't been to Citricos in a minute, and would like to see the remodel. I've never been to Scat Cat, and haven't seen Yee-Haw Bob in probably ten years or more.

I haven't been to Very Merry, and might never get to it---that time of year is not good for me, travel-wise. However, I would see Candlelight every single year if I could.

I have fixed week contracts during Oct and Dec, and I'm an AP holder too. I do the parties, but try to focus not so much on the rides but on the party specific entertainment and events and photo ops etc that you don't get during normal days. Some rides have party specific overlays or enhancements, and I'll try to do those. Christmas theming of Space Mountain is pretty awesome. Interacting with the live character CMs at PotC and HM during Halloween is fun.

It is part of the Disney tax. It is just me + DW, so overall the price isn't too bad for just 2 tickets, but if we were a family of 4+, it'd definitely give me pause.

We go to WDW during the week of Halloween every year and usually go to MNSSHP. We’re planning on skipping it this year. You’re right that not much has changed other than the price going up. We’ll probably go back next year but decided a break was in our best interest. I’d like a chance to miss it you know?

Sorry for the hijack here!

We’ve been to several Cirque shows and enjoy them very much. We’ve seen Drawn to Life twice, it’s amazing especially being in a dedicated arena. If you ever get the chance to see ‘Twas the Night Before, do it! We’ve been lucky that they’ve come to Minneapolis twice and we’ve gone both time. It’s my favorite show.

We've been 3 times and will be going again this year. We love the chance to dress up. So far we've been as Carl and Ellie, Woody and Jessie and the bride and a grave digger. No idea what we will go as this year but I have time to decide and put our costumes together. We like to make them ourselves rather than hire or buy. Our DD doesn't like to dress up in costumes but we buy her a T shirt that suits the theme.

You said it better than I could. Although, I don't go in October, those prices are too rich for me.

having this same debate with myself.

We did MNSSHP in 2023, MVMCP in 2024 and 2025, and I am trying to decide if we want a year off from parties. I have only been to MNSSHP the once, and I really enjoyed the parade ...but MVMCP last season seemed so crowded and not really worth it to me. So I am concerned I'd feel the same about MNSSHP. We're going a 5 night stay in early Sept, and there is a party on the Friday we're there ...and we're at PIT, so easy transport home post party.

Keep us posted on what you decide! I'm right there with you!

A Halloween trip (or Christmas trip) never feels complete to me without attending one of the parties. MK truly transforms during these events and becomes something special. Each year brings a few different characters or a new treat, but I enjoy the parade and trick or treating enough to feel the admission is worth it.

It would be hard for me to stay at a MK resort or visit MK, see all the decorations, and not go to the event. If you want to keep it feeling fresh, try changing up where you watch the parade and fireworks or make a point to do something you have not experienced before.

I look at it the same way as my favorite rides, shows, or meals. There are certain non negotiables I just cannot skip.

Disclaimer: I haver never been to MNSSHP, but have been to MVMCP three times, and a few years ago decided that that's enough for us. There is not enough different/new at the parties to warrant the cost that is increasing even more rapidly than the "regular" Disney inflation. The meet-and-greets are only slightly different from year-to-year and the snacks seem to get cheaper every year, so the only real reason for us to go is the Christmas show and fireworks - but that's just not worth almost $200pp.

Now, having said that, I have been considering doing MNSSHP this year, but mostly because we live here now, and I seriously doubt I will want to do it more than once.
