Joelyfaithsmommy's Journal to Freedom! (Comments Very Welcome!)

Ok, time to express my soul.........................lol :rotfl2:

seriously though...I NEED to find a way to get motivated and EXERCISE!!! I've not done any real exercise since I got back from the world...I HAVE GOT TO DO IT!!! just a little walking is all i've managed to get in, and not enough mind you!

I'M MAKING A COMMITMENT!!! After we get moved next week I'm buying myself a stationary bike and I'M GOING TO USE IT DAILY!!! end of story...I think that will REALLY help me!!! NOW....where to put it??? LOL the house we are moving to is MUCH smaller than the one we are in now... :( i'll find SOME PLACE!!!

hold me to this girls...this means by 7-5 I will have a new stationary bike and I WILL BE USING IT!!!

also I need to get me a few GOOD exercise dvd's...i'm considering the FIRM i've heard such great things about...any suggestions? :)

huggies!
Jen

oh and i need to give an update on gator guy for you guys, so here's his story:

He ate 'well' over vacation, but watched it 'well' on some days too...when we got back he was up 6lbs from pre-disney weight...as of this morning he is AT pre-disney weight...he's back to making good choices all the time, and looking forward to hitting the 299 mark VERY soon..he is currently at 306 :)

he hasn't been posting because he's been packing us up to move while i've been working...and he's been exhausted by night time...says as soon as we get moved he'll update you all on his journal and get back to posting daily (we are moving next monday)

so just wanted to let you all know this!!! hugs
jen

Hi there,

All the packing/unpacking is exercise, but I think it is great that ou are getting bike. I am sending:wizard: for the move.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Jen!

Glad to see you keeping up the good work!!! Big congrats to you and the gator man on your post trip rebounds, I think that is inspiring!

I definitely agree that packing and unpacking is exercise! hehe I have two huge closets I need to clean out and throw out basically, I know I will work up plenty of sweat in the process of getting it all to the dumpster. I hope that your move is as smooth as silk!

Bye for now!
Mike :cool1:

Hi, Jen! Congrats on being below pre-trip weight-- how awesome you must feel!

Well, at the risk of "swimming against the tide", may I make a couple of suggestions?

1. I have Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds tapes and FIRM tapes. I MUCH prefer the Leslie Sansone tapes at this stage in my weight loss process -- she does a 1 mile, 2 mile, 3 mile, etc. tapes and it is so much more do-able for me to have started with the 1 MILE tape and then work myself through. There are a bunch of other ones, too, including walk-jog. The great thing about those tapes is that they don't require any additional equipment (except some small handheld weight balls -- you can even use small dumbbells), whereas I bought a FIRM set with the sculpting stick and 3 tapes for $40 at Target, and cannot use any of them as instructed on the tapes because they all require that step thing, that costs $30 or $40 at Target! I have also heard complaints that the "step" has not held up for some of us more generously sized girls. Finally, when I watched the tapes, I found they required a lot of coordination and fast steps that I wasn't quite ready for. While I would love to look at it as a challenge and learn to do all of that, right now, I am more interested in getting the exercise minutes in, and the WATP tapes get me solid workouts that I can handle in front of my tv set.

2. I had an exercise bike at home. I never used it. That is just me. It wasn't that comfortable for me to sit that still for that long. I have, however, racked up some serious miles on my home treadmill. :)

3. Given a choice between spending a few hundred dollars on an exercise bike or many hundreds of dollars on a good treadmill and getting a family membership to my local YMCA (we pay $65/month), I LOVE recommending the YMCA -- there is so much variety there and it is a great opportunity to get the whole family out the door and exercising -- DD does weight training and cross trainer; DS LOVES to swim; and DH and I use most of the equipment there, on a rotating basis.

Just my $.02 and some food for swimming . . . er, I mean food for thought!

i'll keep in mind your thoughts on the workout tapes/dvds... for sure

as for the bike vs treadmill....well i really love riding on a bike....treadmills i can take or leave...so i think for a first step for me i'll go with the bike....later when i have more money to spend on myself i may get a treadmill tooo...and then again i might find some bargains and get both LOL

who's to say? :)

as far as YMCA goes, there is none in french lick...there is in bloomington, but i dont think i'd be there enough to take advantage...soooooo i'm going to look into a fitness center in or near french lick. :)...and go from there!!! :)

huggies,
Jen

I have to agree about the Firm tapes. I have bought SO MANY different tapes in the past(firm, tae bo, beach body, 5 min.... ) - just too hard, too frustrating and wouldn't be able to stick with them. The WATP tapes I can and do stick with and they are still a good workout for me.

You did great getting back on track after vacation. If you do try The Firm tapes let us know what you think of them. I keep wanting to pick up one but feel like I might be getting in over my head. I've borrowed WATP from the library & like doing that. Congrats on staying on track! :cool1:

Good thought finding a tape that works for you. I finally found something that works for me, YOGA! Baron Baptiste is the best! I think I might want to try the Walk Away The Pounds tapes because everyone raves about them though.

I totally get what you mean about treadmills being taken or left. I love stairmasters/elliptical trainers/rowing machines. I could do that for hours. Give me a treadmill, you're lucky to get 10 minutes out of me! :rotfl:

How is everyone this fine day? I'm doing good...here at work...I have to get out of here early today because Joely has her dress rehersal for her recital in Bedford which is about a 35 min drive from my house, and my work is about a 45 min drive from my home in the opposite direction...so I have to leave here at 3:30, in order to get home by 4:15, pick her up and get her to Bedford by 5pm...UGH...does it ever end??? :) Recital is Sunday night, then we are done with dance til we get moved!!! (which is monday LOL) haha... :rotfl:

I was running late this morning and didn't get to work til 8am on the dot...i try to be here by quarter til every morning, however my bed was EXTRA comfy this morning!!! :)

I know I STILL haven't started my trip report, and you have my apologies, but it's been a mad house at our home, and i really want to use joely's diary she kept during the trip to give my report and I keep forgetting to bring it to work so i can do it here, and the evenings have been filled with craziness, packing, running here there and yonder...etc....so I PROMISE to get to it as soon as I can... :confused3 WHENEVER that may be! ;)

Hi Jen!

I think "Off and running" is the best way to start a healthy day! :flower:
Hope you have a great one!

Mike

Hi, Jen! Totally swamped at work, but wanted to wish you a happy and successful day! I am so incredibly sick that I haven't been able to eat anything yet -- heck of a way to avoid points, right? Otherwise, I'd be right there with you on the subway lunch. YUM! UGH!
Have a good one, hon, and just keep . . . . well, you know what I mean. . .. . . and no one says it quite as cute as you. :)

Hey, Jen, BTW, I am only 11 days from WICKED and 8 weeks from WDW! But, I was thinking about YOU -- only 2 days from the big move, right? WOW! I am impressed you can stay so focused and not stressed!
