Jodi's bridal journal (posts welcome) - I'm back!

Happy Labor Day everyone! I am just getting ready to go over a friend's house for a picnic.

This low carb thing isn't working for me at all:mad: I've only tried it for four days and yesterday I decided to make it a cheat day....before I jump back into it for the week (this being my second week)- Can I just tell you how sick I got.....I was sick most of last night not to mention this morning.

I still made it to the gym today to do 45 minutes of cardio. If my trainer suggests more of this low carb thing - I will just tell her that I can't! I didn't feel like I had any choices - I am not a big eater to begin with and I don't eat a lot of junk food. She wanted me to try cutting carbs down to almost nothing and I just felt sick. It is definetely more satisfying to do low fat than to do low carb not to mention I feel better. Oh well, I will try again for this week but I can't do more than that. I was making everyone else miserable that was around me while on the low carb thing.

Hi Jodi!

You are not alone! A few months ago, I tried my hand at low carbing and could not do it. I was irritable and just not happy. However, I have tried replacing my bad carbs with good ones and I try to watch my food portions. In a few months (after my trip to WDW), I may try South Beach Diet again if I am not loosing as much weight as I would like to. Whatever you decide to do Jodi, please make sure that it's the right thing for you.:hug:

I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your spa day! Plus, the extra time with your mom was an added bonus.::yes::

I am very sorry about the loss of your dad. With his birthday approaching, I'm sure he is in your thoughts a lot. Know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers, Jodi. Sending lots and lots of
:hug: your way.:hug:

Jodi, you are an amazing woman and I hope you have an amazing week!:sunny:

Take good care of you,
Tracy:wave2:

Thanks Tracy for all of your support and positive thoughts...I really appreciate it!

Today, I skipped the gym....Had a bunch of laundry to do and just wanted to relax - I will be back at it tomorrow. I can't remember if I posted for yesterday but incase I didn't I did cardio for 45 minutes.....I plan on kicking up my exercise tomorrow though!

Have a great week Tracy! I'll keep all of my fellow WISHers updated a little better this week - at least I hope to.

Oh and one more thing - I continued to cut carbs today but not totally get rid of them......I guess it will just have to come slowly for them - hopefully, my trainer won't be too upset with me this coming Saturday.

:wave2: Hi Jodi,
I also tried the low carb thing and felt very terrible. Headaches, dizziness, fatigue -- it definitely wasn't for me! I wonder why your trainer is recommending this for you? I can understand cutting back a little on carbs but to want you to pretty much eliminate them when you don't really have weight to lose but are trying to just get in shape and stay healthy seems a bit extreme to me. Do what you feel comfortable with. You have been doing an awesome job so far ::yes:: !

Hi Val,

Just about to go to the gym which I will post later - Oh my trainer suggested that I cut carbs just to jump start the process of loosing fat. We are trying to get me down to 20% fat instead of 23% so then I can make the fit classification instead of the healthy (not that that is bad). I want to look my very best next year not to mention the engagement photos which we will be doing next month (can't remember the date).

I have the same thing happening to me as you did - I have the headaches & fatigue and mind you I am eating 5 meals like they suggest but I feel terrible....although I have been adding them back in slowly (only not as much).

Thanks for the great compliments! What hard work all of this is though! It's worth it though I mean I am finally getting close to how I really want to look and thank god my breakout on my face is starting to clear up a little- I just wish it was totally gone.

Well - I am off to the gym. :wave: I will update all of you when I get back!

Well, I made it to the gym - I went to the location practically around the corner from where I live. I have to say I was a little frustrated though. On the website it clearly states that they are open until 10:00pm but they are only open until 9:00pm...They don't take on their new hours until sometime in October.

Well, I got the 45 minutes of cardio done and some back and triceps- that's it, that's all that I had time for. I guess tomorrow I will have to go for the longer trip to the Orange location (I went to the Milford location tonight).

This whole carb thing is a downer. I wish I could have tried a little harder at it but it just doesn't fit. I can do the lowfat / no fat thing but I can't let go of my carb - how sick is that? :crazy:

Tomorrow, I will be going to the Orange location, and actually remember to bring in my journal with me.

Have a great night everyone. :wave:

Hey there my fellow Wishers,

Today wasn't too bad....Still trying to do the low carb thing- but I am getting these awful headaches. When does it stop? Is that something that you get adjusted to? Like once your body gets used to less carbs then the awful headaches go?

Anyhow, I think I did pretty decent with my diet today....I made it to the gym too and spent a good hour and a half. Here are the details:
* Treadmill - 20 minutes, Weight loss setting, resistance 4
*Crossramp- 20 minutes, glute setting, resistance 2
*Chestpress- 40 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets
*Lat pulldown (underhand)45 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets
*Long pull (for the back) 45 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets
Seated pects- 20 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets
*Cable pull - 20 pounds, 12 reps, 1 set
*Cable pull - 30 pounds, 12 reps, 2 sets
* Super Set - Front raise, Lateral raise, lunge - 12 reps, 3 sets....

That's it ladies!

I can't wait to go tomorrow. I am hoping that I make it tomorrow. This week is extra stressful to me- this Saturday would have been my father's birthday, it's only been a little over a year that he has passed away. I decided that my DF and I would celebrate it this Saturday, at first I thought he would think it was corny but he understands....I went through a lot with my father and I was incredibly close to him - I miss him very much! :sad1: I thought if I could look at it a different way so this year I decided to celebrate his birthday.

Hey, while I was at the gym I actually got a compliment....One of the other members came up and introduced himself and said how he saw me there all the time that he would rather just say hello - he also commented how I was very dedicated :eek: I try::yes::

Well until tomorrow ladies (and gentlemen?).

Jodi:wave:

I noticed I get alot of headaches on the carb diet as well. I dont get them everyday but alot more than usual and so far they have not gone away. How long have you been on the carb diet?

Compliments are always nice....enjoy them you worked hard for it.

I've only been doing it a couple of weeks and will probably return to my low fat diet - it works well for me, my trainer just wanted me to try the low carb/no carb thing for a couple of weeks but I really don't feel like I have much energy on it either. I guess it works for some people just not me! :)

I love compliments - I love that people are taking notice. You know you expect people at work to say something to you and no one ever does, the majority of them say that I don't need to lose weight but then again that isn't what I am trying to do now. I am trying to lose some fat % and just get toned, oh yeah and lose some inches. :) not too much to ask for right?:teeth:

Hi Everyone,

I didn't get to post last night....I got straight to work on the webpage that I am helping out with. I'm having a lot of fun so far.

Last night I ended up not going to the gym, only because I had the trainer session this morning - It went pretty good. I admitted to her I just couldn't do the low/no carb thing.....She was fine with that, we continued on working on my goals....I have another routine :rotfl:

Tonight, DF is taking me out to dinner - we are celebrating what would have been my father's birthday.....I don't know if that is corny or not - I just need another way of looking at things, so I decided to do this. I have to admit it is hard to look at today in a good way because of it being my father's birthday and because of the terrorist attacks.

:hug: I'm sending hugs your way, Jodi. I'm sure it must be very hard for you during this time. I hope you and DF had a nice dinner and that helped a little.

Take care of you :daisy: .

Thanks Val, the dinner did help. I had to do something special and be able to look at things differently and I think it did help a little.

Thank you so much for the support. ;)

Hi Everyone,

Dinner was great last night - It helped out a little to think of my dad's birthday another way....He is greatly missed.

The only thing that I didn't like about the dinner is that my DF told me how his sister, Joan, felt about bridesmaids dresses and gave opinions about them. Now, I have asked her plenty of times while we are out what do you think of this and what do you think of that and she doesn't offer up anything but then goes and tells my DF all about it. I also have the problem she will only stay in her general area she won't travel any further - A lot of the designers that I like are offered further away and although she told me that she is fine with going out, she later told my fiance that she doesn't want to travel. What is up with that?

I think I am pulling myself out of this search - It's just too hard to get everyone together and then when they aren't honest with you.....I don't know - I don't think it is right....I want these girls to be comfortable but maybe they will find it easier if I don't go.

I have my dress and I'm happy the other search is theirs. :)

Anyhow, I am keeping up with my diet - I'm back to the normal one now. My trainer sesssion went well and I have more ideas to vary my workout - boy do I feel it this morning. I had to take the day off from the gym. Hopefully, I can get there tomorrow to do the cardio stuff.

I'm sorry that I seem a little cranky today. :(

Hope everyone else has a wonderful rest of their weekend. :wave:

Not much going on today.....Did well with my diet. However, did not get to go to the gym. I decided to look for clothes for our upcoming engagement photos as well as getting make up.. I was such a mallrat tonight after work.

Tomorrow it is back to the gym. Time to get back to the laundry room. Have a great night all!

:wave2: Hi Jodi,
Just checking in to see how you're doing. Have a great Tuesday :sunny: !

Hi Jodi-
I think that is a smart choice to let the girls choose their dress. That way you aren't involved in any of the "discussions" (read: disagreements) about the dress. And lets be honest- you still have VETO power.
I hope you are having a great day.

Hi Mary,
Things are really tough with letting everyone else pick the dresses. My MOH and myself seem like the only people who will drive anywhere. My DF sisters is the bad situation one lives in the same state but will not travel outside of the town where she lives and the bridal stores that are in that general area don't have much his other sister lives in MA and hasn't been really saying much! I really didn't want any bridesmaids - I only wanted my best friend to be MOH but the DF would have to deal with hearing his sister's complain that I didn't make them bridesmaids....he already brought me into those conversations too! "Well, Jodi is supposed to make us bridesmaids, and when do you think she'll ask..." and on and on and on!!!!

My MOH would rather have me look with them, so it's just tough all the way around. I can't wait for it to be all over:sad: His sister's are turning this into such a headache!!!! I really don't even want to talk about the wedding anymore - I thought it would be so much fun but now I am hate it.

Hey there fellow WISHers,

Today, I did well with the diet and made it to the gym - spent an hour and a half there; here is the low down:
* Treadmill, 20 minutes, Weight loss setting, resistance 4
* Arc Trainer- 15 minutes, Weight loss setting, resistance 4
* Superset of Prong Leg Curl (45 pounds) & Shoulder Shrugs (20 pounds- 10 each arm) 12 reps, 3 sets
* Plate Loaded Squat - 140 pounds, 15 reps, 3 sets
* Calf raise - 35 pounds, 12 reps, 1 set (not enought weight) 45 pounds, 12 reps, 2 sets
* Standing Squat- 25 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets
* Crossramp- 15 minutes
* Superset- Front raise, lateral raise, & Lunge (9 pound weights), 12 reps, 3 sets
* Step superset with Stomach - 12 reps, 3 sets (9 step add ons, each side)....Very good work out for the stomach and inner and outer thighs.

I still didn't all done that I wanted to. There's always tomorrow as long as time allows....Me and my company are going on an outing to New York City tomorrow.....I am looking so forward to it.

If I go to the gym tomorrow I will update my post but I have a feeling with all of the walking that we do in New York I might not feel up to it. Well see ladies. :teeth:

Have a great night everyone.:wave:

:wave2: Hi Jodi,
I hope you are enjoying the city :wave: . Have a good night :D !

Sounds like you are doing a great job! But when it comes down to it, it's not what you look like, but who you are inside is what all counts. ;)

Good Luck and Congratulations!!!::MinnieMo
