Part 18: Day +1: Thoughts & Feelings

We had an amazing time in Orlando but there are so many things that will change next time…

No large group - Gavin & I found any time spent with the rest of our party difficult. The 3 kids had demands prone to children that we weren’t used to and the general time keeping of them all was ridiculous to the point of rude and disrespectful.

Fireworks – Next time I will see one display with no restrictions or moaning from DF.

Ear Infection – Despite been incredibly painful I hadn’t realised how much it impacted on my holiday until I wrote my reports. At first it was a couple of hours to go the hospital but then it became a full day at home resting. Obviously I can’t dictate my health next trip but I really really hope I am never that ill again. I have been to the hospital in Goole twice and my GP twice since returning home and touch wood, six weeks later it seems to have cleared up.

Water-parks – Fingers crossed no ill health I will be going to all 3 water parks wether DF can swim or not!

Weather - It was sooo hot all of the time. It wasnt our decision to go in Aug' Gavins dad had sorted the dates and even though mid-Aug' saw fewer crowds the weather is enough to put us off summer, unless it is Aug' or nothing.

Photo's - We took loads of photo's and camcorder footage the first week but this petered off during the second. I will keep it up all holiday next time as we have decided only to take still's and leave the camcorder behind.

We booked for Pop Century in Sept/Oct '06 a week after we returned. I am always up for WDW but I was very surprised DF had enjoyed himself enough to return.

I was very pleased with how much Gavin tried despite been a big girls blouse most of the time! He loved Spiderman and Test Track and was brave enough to try the Mummy. He was petrified on Rip-Saw Falls because of the huge drop but went on all the water rides (he closed his eye’s for all except one but he still rode!)

On-Site in 369 days, Will we ever go off-site again? ……

:flower:

Jodie

On-site and being your own boss is the way to go!

We were in WDW at the same time as my sister, BIL and their 4 kids. All our kids get on really well, and when originally planned we'd been oging to get a big villa so the kids could play in the pool etc. while we "relaxed" :rolleyes1 :drinking1 :drinking:

However, DH couldn't get 3 weeks off work and we decided we really wanted to be onsite, which would be prohibitive with 4 kids, so we agreed to try to meet up over there one or two days. In the end we all booked for Fantasmic for the same day and time (although I had to stay behind with DS(5) who was  ) and we met up at KSC. It was great to see them but no regrets about not staying together - nothing causes tension like one party having to hang around for the others! Even if we go to the same site somewhere we always book separate accomodation :teeth: :grouphug:

Hi jodie
Really enjoyed your trippies and great photo's. A real B.... about the ear infection. as you say ill health is impossible to predict but earache is one of the worst. Full empathy as I had one a few years ago in Holland and ruined the entire holiday. Really glad you are booked to go back. with just the 2 of you, you can afford to be selfish and just do what you want to do when ,where and at what time. :wave2:

Really really enjoyed reading your trip reports, this is our first family holiday to WDW and I think your reports with photos has been the best report I have read by far. Thank you

Thanks Jodie, I have enjoyed your reports. We went in 1996 with my parents, sister and us (family of 4). Though we very much enjoyed our very first experience with Disney with them, I prefer going by ourselves. You are totally in charge and don't have to think about other needs.

I've really enjoyed reading all reports in one go for the past hour or so. Your photos have been brilliant too.... And we all know the best way to cure the holiday blues - yes, book another one !!

Thanks again Jodie :)

I know I keep getting email notifications from you. :teeth: It is nice to be able to sit down and read a whole holiday in one scoop though.

If you are anything like us you will not go off site again!

We came back in May after going off site with a party of 14 and it was a nightmare. We had several arguments and lost one of the five year olds, once in Epcot and again at Universal city walk. Stressful with 6 children (only one was ours) and a set of grandparents (again not ours!!!)

Are going back again next year (October 2006) staying on site at Saratoga Springs with 2 other families but only 3 three children and no grandparents!!!

Thanks for the great trip report. Can't wait to see what you think of pop.

same with us - we love staying onsite, especially at Pop Century - you'll love it I'm sure :cool1: neither of us want to stay offsite anymore - we've been spoilt ;)

Thank you for sharing your trip with us, I've really enjoyed your reports. Such a shame about your earache but as you say, you can't predict when you'll be ill :( I'm sure you'll make up for the lack of waterparks next time.
