Mare, LOLOLOL! I remember PAT from SNL!

I understand that this is America and everyone deserves a fair trial, but SOMETIMES I think that some defense attorneys get a rush from getting someone who is so despicable and so guilty acquitted. Not just talking about Jodi. I'm sure there was a lot of back slapping when CA was acquitted; I'm sure they were as amazed as everyone else that she got off. Near the end of the trial, they were looking for a plea deal, for heaven's sake. Get a killer acquitted, and then walk away. It wasn't their family member killed, after all.
I could not do it either. What if that person did it again?
Donavan's mom sure did pick an unfortunately androgynous name.Mare, LOLOLOL! I remember PAT from SNL!![]()
Ugh.I know someone who is a pretty big time lawyer in our part of the country. Several years ago (when he was still fairly new in the profession), he was crowing to a mutual friend about having gotten a guy off for a major drug charge - talking about all the evidence they had and how he got him off. He definitely got a rush from it, and I don't think he thought for one second that the guy was innocent.
Their firm is the one that is one of the top ones called when somebody is in really BIG trouble. One case comes to mind of a guy they got off whose wife was killed and burned up in her vehicle. The guy actually had burns on his hands, but they got him off...![]()

Nope, I couldn't do it either. I've thought many times that I could easily be a prosecuting attorney though.![]()
I swore after Casey Anthony I would not get sucked in anymore either, but here I am......
She used the evidence that was provided to her by the Defense team. What gets me is a lot of people complaining why didn't she interview Travis' family, hello, she's not allowed to by law.
Exactly. She admits that she knows Jodi lied about things but then still took JA word/journals as the truth. Had she interviewed friends/acquaintances, she would have been able to determine which (of any) of JA's stories were reliable enough to use in her evaluation of JA and TA's relationship.

This whole thing is ridiculous to me. As if anyone can actually see if Jodi even has a knife or a gun, which would be relatively small in that blur of a picture. And as JVM is saying, who's going to hold a knife or gun in their hands while they're holding a camera, when they're planning to kill someone...she's not going to ANNOUNCE, by holding a weapon, that she's about to kill him!
me too, I'm just not posting since I'm working through most of the trial times..but I keep up to date here.
Far more troubling, however, have been comments on blogs, Twitter, and Facebook denigrating Ms. LaViolette for her looks, weight, age, and speculated sexuality. As the comments increase, they extend to calls for her physical harm or even death. Entire Facebook accounts have been created for the sole purpose of publicly disparaging her and ending her career. She has been followed, photographed and her restaurant dining reported. Twitter users have urged people to express their disgust at her, and posted her phone number, leading to a barrage of harassing and threatening calls. More recently, a petition is circulating that as of this writing has over 5,000 signatures. It demands that Alyce LaViolette should no longer be given the opportunity to speak at abuse seminars based on her testimony in The State vs. Jodi Arias Murder trial....
Alyce LaViolette was well aware of the facts of the case when she agreed to defend Ms. Arias and justify her confessed killing of Travis Alexander. Ms. LaViolette alone is responsible for her theorizing and her thinking and her testimony, and should be prepared to face criticism for these views just like any other professional claiming expertise on a topic. But it should come as no surprise that she had to receive emergency treatment at a hospital for anxiety attacks and heart palpitations when the attacks against her became so personal and vicious. Nearly anyone would fall apart at such collective aggression aimed at them and the only one responsible for such aggression are those who engage in it.
Good morning.Good Morning everyone.
I hope the DT is done and we can move on to rebuttal.
I think we have all had enough but, we are going to see this thru (the train wreck effect has gotten to all of us.)
I bet the jury just walked away yesterday scratching their heads like "what the heck was that"?
Watching the news from Boston and its hard to think about anything else.
Heartbreaking. They have released a picture of the little boy who lost his life and all I can think about is his parents. They took him to a marathon and now he isn't coming home. Makes me sick.

Good morning.
Reports are that the 8 yr old boy had just hugged his father as he crossed the finish line and that his mother and sister were both seriously injured, his sister losing a leg. I know a lot of erroneous information comes through constantly with these types of tragedies, but that's what is being reported now.

"According to the Boston Globe, Martin was waiting at the finish line for his father, who was running the race. Alongside him were his mother and sister. As his father crossed the finish line, Martin rushed to him and gave him a hug. As the boy turned back towards the sidewalk to join his family, the bomb went off.
Martin's mother and sister were severely injured in the blast. The 6-year-old sister reportedly lost her leg, as Martin lost his life. Monday night, the community of Dorchester was heavy with mourning and disbelief."
I'm not sure if this has been posted, but this is an interesting article regarding the bullying of LaViolette. I don't agree with ALV's conclusions, and I personally think she had a certain bias, but I don't support any of the bullying behavior that has happened as a result of her testifying.

It makes me so sad that people can hide behind their computers and spew such hatred. I don't agree with what Violet did, nor did I care for her demeanor while on the stand. However, I have a feeling that in life, she has probably helped quite a few battered women. I also don't think she realized exactly what she was getting into. Yes, she probably knew she would twist things in favor of Jodi, but when she's only given a certain amount of evidence and only talks with one person- what are you going to do. Though she could have helped their case much more just by admitting that Jodi had quite a few faults as well. Either way you spin it, she doesn't deserve death threats or to have her entire life uprooted. I'm going to have faith that the jurors noticed all the discrepancies in her testimony and will (hopefully) make the right choice when it comes to Jodi. I also have a feeling that Violet will most likely choose to never be an expert witness again if she can help it!

She won't ever agree to be an expert again if you ask me...
