Jodi Arias Trial Part 4, starting with redirect of "expert" Dr Samuels, March 19

Loveamystery on web****hs said "Maybe it's the blue ribbons. Nurmi said he would ASK for a mistrial if the family didn't stop wearing them. Maybe that's why they called the family in. Maybe jury figured out what blue ribbons meant".

They had to know eventually a juror was going to hear something, or talk to someone, or see something they shouldn't. This is a HUGE trial, they knew it was being televised and would get national attention. If they were that worried about it, the jurors should have been sequestered.

I hope they're just dismissing the naughty juror and we can move on with this today.
I think that the big issue would be if the juror spoke about it to the other jurors tho. Like what if she said something like "I read that if we don't convict her, we'll have to hide out like the Casey Anthony jurors." Maybe that's a bad example, but I think she would have had to say something that could strongly give the impression of trying to influence the other jurors.
Oh dear Lord! I thought you said EXECUTE!! :scared1:I really should wear my glasses! :rotfl:
If this is a mistrial because of what #5 said, then she'll probably be right behind CA and JA for the most hated women in America.

I can't imagine JM settling for anything less than 1st degree.
Me either. And Travis' family wanted the DP. 2nd would be a blow to them.

The talking heads on HLN are saying this judge planned for a case of something like this happening (juror misconduct), and that's why there are so many alternate jurors. They seem to think a mistrial is highly unlikely, that the juror will just be dismissed, and we'll move on from there.

I'm about to go and switch laundry. Usually when I get up to get something done, court starts, or a sidebar ends or something good happens. If it starts while I'm gone, you're welcome. It seems to be my curse, missing the good stuff for the non-good stuff.

Maybe the judge just called the Alexander's into chambers because of the blue ribbons they wear? ... Maybe JA is still making a big fuss over them? ... or maybe one of the jurors said something about them? ... I'm just trying to downplay maybe why they were called into chambers ...

Wait a minute ... Vinnie Politan just tweeted that "JA's family and Travis' family were called into chambers!!!" ... the plot thickens ... maybe it is about the ribbons? ... ugh ... what could it be? :confused3

I am getting ready to do the same. No sense waiting around on all this ridiculousness. By the time they come back, they will probably be released for lunch.

My sister just returned from a trip to AZ, Lake Havasu, and I asked her if it was all over and she said YES! It was huge, so there in almost no way for the jurors not to have heard or seen something.

I think not using a motor coach to take the jurors to and from the courthouse is just stupid! Remove them from the area before they can see or hear something, especially since the trail has gotten so much attention and people are coming from all over for a peak at JA and the attorneys involved.

I think one of the reasons they had so many alternates was because this was going to be a long trial and jurors could get sick, have a family emergency, etc.

I just went and did something too and thought the same thing!

Waiting this out is almost like waiting for the verdict. I guess, in a way, it is...waiting for a verdict from the judge on mistrial or not, plea deal or whatever.

Me too and yes, it's almost time at least for my lunch. :thumbsup2

Yikes, that sounds like a plea deal and no, I don't think it's about ribbons.

Nothing to do with blue ribbons. It is Juror #5.

I agree. If they couldn't sequester, I agree they should have really restricted them around the courthouse at the very least.

Going to trot down to the mailbox. Hope that makes something happen! LOL This is like trying to induce labor.

I doubt it is a mistrial. They may dismiss her, if she said anything. The judge may put in more strict guidelines.

I didn't know that the families have a say with whether to accept a plea deal or not ... I thought it was just up to the prosecution and the judge ... I can understand why the victim's family may be asked for their opinion about a plea deal ... but why would a defendant's family get to give their opinion? ... Quite honestly, that would tick me off if I were the victim's relative ...

The sound of a door opening perks the entire courtroom up. It was Valerie coming in, she headed back to chambers with some docs. #JodiArias

ETA: I believe that Valerie is Judge Stephens assistant. She is the one that goes and gets the jury.

Anyone know if this judge is holding an elected position or is she appointed?

Victims families are often asked their input and especially about plea deals and it could be that Jodi requested her family as support.

ETA: Just heard referral to this on HLN:
18 U.S.C. § 3771. Crime victims' rights
