Job Offer - Question

So I've been given an offer at one job. I don't hate the type of work I would be doing, it's kind of in my field, but I'm not in love with it either.

I'm also talking to about 5 or 6 other companies for the type of job I do love but unfortunately any of those options will probably take a month or 2 to get set up.

I can't tell the company that offered me to wait 2 months.. that really wouldn't fly. So I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place.. do I take the offer and then bolt after 2 months for the work I really do want (people would be very pissed at me) or do I just say no and wait it out and risk that I end up with nothing...

hmmmmmm!!!

I'm leaning towards taking it and then leaving if one of the options becomes a reality.. I've always looked out for #1 (me) when it comes to work and loyalty to companies. But leaving after 2 months.. I would hate to have to tell them I was leaving.. yikes!

I think that if we were in a different economy, the chances of getting exactly what you are looking for would be much greater. Right now, a bird in the hand is worth two in the brush. I would take that bird in the hand and if the job of your dreams materializes, explain, apologize and say goodbye. Two months is not very long so you won't have to really explain that gap in a resume. You are right, they might be mad, but they will get over it and someone else who gets that job will be happy...perhaps. ;)

Personally, I would take the job. What if the other jobs don't work out? Also, maybe you will enjoy this job more than you think.
If the other jobs materialize and you want to take advantage of them, just apologize and, if at all possible, give them two weeks notice.
I have had jobs for less than two months (after all, not every job is going to work out), but I have given two weeks notice.

Oh I would certainly give them 2 weeks. I would just feel bad because it's the type of job that a lot of people would apply for so they most likely would have said no to hundreds of applicants..

it's a hard place to be but this is a sure thing and the other offers may or may not come:)

Assuming you currently don't have a job...

In this economy, take what you can get!

take the job. Things could change, the other positions could possibly not actually open up. Its not the best thing to do, but if your not working you could be left with no job.

Sometimes you take a job thats not 100% the best, work there a while until you find something better. Sometimes that perfect job doesn't always turn out to be that perfect job you thought.
