Is there such a service that would apply to jobs for you? I find applying for jobs to be so tedious especially if you are applying for multiple companies. You have to remember passwords/you need to fill out the same info over and over again/you usually need to take a test and you sometimes need to make slight adjustments with your resume.
I am imagining a company that i can go to and fill out and answer questions and take test. I would provide everything that they need and tell them what i am looking for. They would then look for jobs that match my qualifications and interests and apply to them for me. I would jump in to sign the application and if selected for an interview they would tell me....
Does anything like this exist?

Ive heard of Temp Agencies... Are they the same thing?
Not really. Temp agencies are a place where you go and register (basically get hired by the temp company). They keep a file on your skills, and when companies need temporary staffing to cover vacations, or other vacancies, they will call the temp company to fill the slot. Your pay check comes from the temp agency, not the company you're working at that day/week. And, usually, part of your contract with the temp company is that you will not accept a permanent position with the company that you are temporarily working at for a period of time past the temp job.

Sometimes temp agencies will place people permanently, but then the company hiring pays a finder's fee to the temp agency.

Honestly, I think part of the "looking for a job" process should be how much effort YOU put into into it.

I really hate the "just apply online" world of hiring now.
Oh I agree but since everything is "apply online" after the 20th application it gets tiring..

What I hate is that everyone wants 3 confidential references. So, if you are applying to multiple jobs, you have to ask that person to fill out multiple requests.

People you use as references don't fill out anything. In my experience. Typically a reference is a name and phone number that the potential employer can contact if they want to, in order to check you out.

Now, if you mean an actual referral letter - yes, some people may balk after the second or third one. Typically, you can get a general reference letter you can copy for such things. But not always.

You could hire a headhunter to find job openings and submit your resume, but as far as applications, that's considered a legal document. I usually hire based on resumes and I take them from people's friends. But if we did use an application, I would not be ok finding out that someone got someone else to fill it out because they were too lazy or it was too tedious. That's a bad sign from the start.

It exsists. Staffing agencies, temp to perm agencies, and head hunter are all an option. With that said part of showing you are interested in the job is following whatever directions they put out. My fiance does a lot of hiring and tells me he is always shocked on how many people just can't follow simple instructions.

Nope, they want them to respond. It is on online application for each job and after you list the reference, they contact them and ask them their own specific questions to answer and when you go to your application it will say, "complete" next to each reference who has responded, and then your entire application will say "complete" once everyone has responded.

It makes me NUTS. I applied to two different school districts and both of them had their own set of questions to answer and wanted three references to ALL respond before they would even talk to you.

Now I am trying to get into a grad program and they want 3 reference letters with their own questions as to whether you are capable of completing the program, if you are suited for the program, etc.....

It is CRAZY!

I wish I could just upload the reference letters I have, but there is nowhere to do that. They only have spaces for a name, email, and phone number of a reference. One of my references has sent me the questions each of them asked.

I don't know what jobs you are applying for but my husband used a headhunter years ago for his current job. The firm paid the fees once they hired him. It was no cost to him.

I guess it depends on the type of job you are looking for. My husband has been an IT consultant since the late 80s, and other than when he was in college, he has never had to apply for jobs. He has always been approached by headhunters with leads, and the head hunters always just set up the interviews.

We have employment agencies here. My son got his last 2 jobs that way. You "apply" to the employment agency, they match your skills and experience to job openings.
Some employers......especially small ones....like hiring via an Employment Agency because the Employment Agency does all the criminal background checks, verifies references, and qualifications before you ever make it to the job interview. The employment agency then gets a commission from the employer when they hire someone.

My son is in computer IT too. I guess in his case the employment agency acted as the head hunter. IT is a funny field, all those folks with Microsoft Certifications who can't fix anything, and the all those folks with no certifications that can fix issues in a snap.

That's how it works for my husband as well - he doesn't really apply for jobs, head hunters just call him for jobs that are available. But he's in a super high-demand field where there are not nearly enough people as there are positions, which is a great position to be in. If his company closes or something I'm confident he could have a new job within a few days.
