Jitterbug phone with another service?

I was given an older Jitterbug phone. I know Jitterbug uses Verizon.

I do NOT want to pay the $15 for 50 minutes through the Jitterbug company as my mom uses far less than that.

Is there a pay as you go Verizon service I could use this phone with? Page Plus maybe?????
