Jingle Bells....AKL....Disney for 10 Whole Days! ** Updated June 2015: Videos Added**

Oh Canada! How I Love You So

When I left off we had just left Voyage of the Little Mermaid and at this point we were about to split up. The grandparents were going to take our kiddos and the hubs and I had a date planned at LeCellier. This was definitely on my bucket list but up until right before we left for our trip I did not even have this planned at all. I was browsing online looking at restaurants one day and came across a lunch ADR available for two people at 3:25pm. Odd time I know but its LeCellier people and at this point I hope that most of you are aware of my obsession with Canada. Plus I wanted to see what the hype was all about. And to top it off how many Disney vacations was this family going to have with built in babysitters? I'll tell you….one. So that is how I managed to plan for two lunches in one day. Good grief.

DH and I paused momentarily to capture ourselves kid less in Hollywood Studios.

With the kiddos headed with their grandparents back to the resort via Disney bus, the DH and I boarded at boat to Epcot at 2:30pm.

But not before pausing momentarily to capture us kid less in front of the Hollywood Studios Christmas tree….are you starting to see a trend here? Clearly we were excited to have some couple time lol.
We docked at the International gateway at 2:55pm. Disney transportation may be convenient but that does not mean it speedy lol. Meanwhile this left my husband's parents in charge of the kiddos. Do you know what grandparents let your kids do when the parents are away?

This. Yup. We are not in a habit of letting our children glue their eyes to devices but you know how grandparents like to let you kids do stuff they don't normally get away with so we let it slide.

Back to Epcot….we were a bit early for our ADR but we decided to check and see if they would allow us to get in a wee bit early. We checked in at 3:10 and were called to our table at 3:20. I love Canadians!

We were seated at a small two seater table however I do not remember what area we were in….sorry. But who cares because this was the closest I have come in my life, thus far, to Canada and I was beside myself with excitement. Since we had just ate not too long ago the plan was just to try a little of this and that and obviously I had done a little research beforehand and knew what I wanted to try.

But first I had to share these adorable little sugar cubes they brought to the table with our tea. Awww look how cute they are…lol. Then DH and I had a moment where he tried to tell me to pack the sugar cubes in my bag to take with us and I told him I most certainly would not put sugar in any form into my bag because that was weird and what in the world would we do with sugar cubes. To which he replied he did not know but that they were cool looking and we could find something to do with them….at least show the kids or find a horse to give them to…..seriously. This went on and on for a bit and the entire conversation was done at a hush whisper because people are sat awfully close to one another here. It seemed like a scene out of a comedy for sure and yeah we don’t get out much either lol. And FYI I am embarrassed to say that the sugar cubes did leave with us in the form of a baggie that was then put into my bag by DH…..seriously. Pick you battles people lol. Anyways now to the nom noms.

We start with the complimentary bread that is brought to one's table. It was a very good. And no the salted butter square DID NOT go in a baggie which then went into my bag. Let's keep it classy here folks after all.

The first thing I was dying to try was the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. And yes it lived up to the hype. And yes I dunked my pretzel bread into the soup….obviously.

The next, and final thing we had to try was the Poutine Fries. Holy cow these were amazing! To which I have to ask my dear DIS friend Rob, do you eat these as a source of comfort food in your country? Because I like to think that if I ever moved to Canada that I would totally sit around the house on a lazy afternoon watching Anne of Green Gables while grubbing on some poutine fries in my jammies….my Disney jammies. Just sayin. So anyways we had planned on trying the maple crème brulee but alas the completion of two lunches left us more than past our limit for food so we left it at that. Overall I really enjoyed our experience here and would definitely eat here again if given the opportunity. With our bellies more that full we waddled our way out of the restaurant. It was now 4:00 but I was not quite ready yet to leave Canada.

Great start on your date night! So jealous we didn't use my mom for a date night when we brought her on our 2011 trip. Like you said, when will we have a built in sitter on a Disney vacation.... Only once here too.
Also love the humor in the sugar stealing moment. :rotfl:

Well, I certainly love the chapter title!!

Haha, you both look just a little too happy in your kidless state, lol.

What makes the kids and devices picture so funny is that it exists. Without that picture, there's absolutely no evidence. Oops!

Ummmmm, yeah. Poutines are HUGE in Canada!!!!!! HUGE!!! So much so that they are available at most Fast Food restaurants like McDonald's and Burger King. I believe I would categorize it as pretty much its own food group. As is beer. :)

Yes we love our children and we love their grandparents but I have to be honest it was great being able to have some quality time just the two of us :goodvibes

Ha! I thought you might like the title :) and yes we did much enjoy some time to ourselves for sure! You know Rob I think the only reason I even have a picture of the kids on the devices is because my DFIL took that picture and they sent it to us lol. Oh my goodness I was hoping that you were going to say that about the poutines! Although I think that would be a bit strange ordering some at McDonalds lol. But then again I can't remember the last time I actually went to a McDonalds:crazy2: so......but goodness I am so jealous that you have access to such a wonderful food. Ooooh beer and poutines now there is a combination :thumbsup2

The One Where I Think Time is on My Side
When we had finished our second lunch at Le Cellier it was now 4:00pm. Here is the part when I tell everyone that we had big plans to see Fantasmic this evening. We had FP+ scheduled for it which meant that we had between 5:55-6:15 to check in for the show which started at 6:30pm. This would be the one and only chance for us to see the show and it was a must since the in laws had yet to see the awesomeness that is Fantasmic. Being that it was only 4pm we still were doing great on time so we decided to do a little shopping in Canada. That's when we found these little beauties.

Giggling goat soap….is this stuff for real?

Bear breath soap…..because who doesn't like the smell of bear breath?

Moose spit….yum

And followed by a similar scent…..dog team drool

Yes ferret fart. And yes I am five and cannot say the word fart without giggling like a goat.
And my personal favorite…..

Because there is no Dam Beaver in this soap…..bahahahahaha.
So moving on we spent quite a lot of time in Canada and got to the point where we SHOULD have left the park because I wanted to freshen up a bit at the resort before heading out for the evening. But alas the realization that we had not purchased anything yet from

Had me thinking differently. You just don't go without purchasing something from here, especially when you are on the dining plan and most likely will have an abundance of snack credits not used at the end of your stay. And it was almost certain that we would not be making a trip back to Epcot on this vacation. So sacrifices had to be made. In the name of Germany and its deliciously smelling caramel store that you can literally smell from Canada. Sigh. We used two snack credits and purchased two large chocolate cookies covered with caramel…..and then proceeded to sprint to the bus stop a million miles away from Germany….and all for the love of chocolate and caramel. It was now 5:00. Oh boy here we go.

We ran to our familiar bus stop for this park to take us not to HS but back to AKL. Because I am stubborn. And I still want to freshen up. Also because I am naïve and I have no concept of how real time works and I honestly thought time would be on our side. Ha! Seems funny now but not then.
Now when we arrived there was hardly anyone in line to go to AKL. But within a few minutes a line started to build, and a pretty good one at that. Then a family showed up with a huge double stroller the size of a hybrid and proudly just stood there with the stupid looking thing holding all of their bags and, well, stuff. Obviously not their kids because that would just be stupid. So the bus pulls up and I am thinking to myself, the dad better start folding that baby up cause you can't take a stroller on a Disney bus like that. He thought otherwise. And so began the excruciating long argument between this guy and the bus driver about putting his stupid stroller on the bus as it was. He was all like "but the last bus driver let me no problem so I don't see what the problem is now" and the Disney bus driver was like "well that is our policy" back and forth. Finally and unfortunately the bus driver gave in and let him put his stupid stroller on the bus. I won't even get into how wrong that is on so many levels. The bad thing is that this whole ordeal was keeping everyone else from getting on the bus….now we all had to wait for the bus driver to load the stupid SUV size "stuff holder" onto the bus like a wheelchair or ECV and buckle it in which also took up three extra bus seats. And yeah in case you were wondering people did have to stand on this ride so that Mr. Entitled and his stupid stroller that was holding all of his family's stuff could ride comfortably. We would not want to inconvenience you sir by asking you to fold your stroller. He's just lucky I got to sit down because there is no way on God's green earth I would have stood on that bus. And yup I sure did take a picture

I have no shame.
So this clearly made our trip take even longer to get back and by the time we got to AKL I had just enough time to run upstairs, take a potty break, and drop off the stuff we had bought at Epcot that I did not want to haul with me all night long. Maybe if I had a stroller I could have pushed my stuff around no problem…..lol. The kids and my husband's parents had been patiently waiting for us at the resort so we could all leave together. I felt bad for holding everyone up. Ugh. We were waiting at the bus stop at 5:45. One would hope that some pixie dust would have been granted and a HS bus would magically appear right then. Nope. We got our bus at 6:02pm. Dang.
You can probably see the direction this is headed. If there was any Disney intelligence running through my DIS veins we were not going to miss seeing this show. I was not about to let my family down…not this time.

Oh my.....I'm not sure I can stand waiting on finding out if you made it to Fantasmic in time!! Loved seeing the lovely soap from Canada....almost all of those would have been purchased by at least one or two of my sons :rotfl:

Second lunch. That still cracks me up.

I swear Canada is now known more for these soaps that hockey... and I'm totally ok with that. One time it was pretty quiet in there, so me and the CM's played "guess the scent". I sucked.

Oh my goodness, for as long as I live I will never understand people... or your bad luck with travel. I do, however, adore the fact that you took a picture of said hybrid for us all to enjoy. :)

OMG, I literally yelled out loud at my computer when I scrolled down and saw the pic of that stroller strapped in on the bus!!

"Oh NO he didn't!!!!!!" :furious:

Everyone knows that you have to fold up your stroller... or in our case, our 2 double strollers!! You just deal with it. Who would even think it's okay to even ask? And to then have it taking up seating while others had to stand! Ugh!! The nerve of some people!

Now you've got me all fired up! lol Oh and I LOVE that you took a pic of it. I hope the guy saw you do it, haha!

I think there is a special place in hell for those poel with the stroller, I wish there had been ECV's behind them in line and the driver had to load them first.

Great update!!! Love Epcot more and more. We finally had some time to look around in Canada and was laughing at the soap names too. Can't believe we missed those the first couple trips there.
Oh boy travel time to resort and back are never my expertise. Lol. I always say we have 5 minutes forgiveness per child. So that gives us a 15 min window. I'll see if FP+ obeys my rule this Dec. :rotfl2:

Lol yeah the soap was pretty amusing to say the least. I hope to have a new update soon. Thanks for hanging in there with me :goodvibes

Ha! I was wondering if this was an actual thing in Canada. Well at least Canadians have a sense of humor when it comes to soap....lol guess the scent that's funny. We did have some bad luck with getting around on this trip but live and learn. I will not make the same mistakes again for sure! Yeah the stroller thing was stupid.

Ha! Yeah it's funny because as I got to this point in my TR and was typing I was also kind of reliving the ordeal and getting pretty mad so I was "hard typing" the keys on the computer lol. It was pretty inconsiderate of him too and I did not try to hide my taking a picture of the stroller either :thumbsup2

Sigh. This unfortunately seems to be everywhere and their is no escaping to Disney to get away from poor judgment from people. What do ya do ya know?

Lol the soap were quite funny right?! That is a good rule to have:thumbsup2. Good luck with your FP+ this December....hopefully by then they will have more of the bugs worked out and it can be user friendly :goodvibes

We're Not Gonna Make It, We're Not Gonna Make It
Funny how this line from Dinosaur could have easily been the theme for this trip report as it was the phrase that constantly played in my head so many times when it seemed we were rushing to be somewhere on time…….hmmmm.
And so it was for us on a bus to HS at 6:02 trying to make a 6:30 Fantasmic. By this time is was obvious to us that we were not going to make it by check in to use our FP+ and now our only concern was to make it at all. As soon as the bus stopped we ran. We whizzed through the gates and turned onto Sunset Blvd. I was so afraid that we were cutting it so close that there would be no seats left and this was our only chance to see the show. Once again I felt bad for making my elderly in laws practically run to something. Ugh. Once we got to the area where they let you in I was relieved to see that they were still allowing us and others in at all. Then we heard the announcement that all that was left was standing room only. This broke my heart. I tried to fight back my tears of frustration that I had with myself for putting us in the situation but we continued forward, standing or not we were going to try to see this show.
So you can imagine my surprise when we got to the theatre that cast members were waving down a set of stairs to a seat. Huh? Whatever happened to standing room only I don’t know but I was not about to argue this. Now I had tears of relief and felt bad for doubting Disney magic. We made our way down and my first thought was that not only did we get seats but look at the view we had

We sat our booties down at 6:32pm just as the show was kicking off. I still could not believe our luck. It seemed too good to be true. Then I realized how we got these seats when this happened

That’s when I noticed for the first time that EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE within a good radius of our location had on ponchos. We were in……the wet zone. Seriously folks I can't make this stuff up. And it was a rather cool evening in December on this particular night. So this is how I enjoyed the show

Bahahahaha……right?! Ah well beggars can't be choosers and I was just so happy that we were able to enjoy the show from a sitting position, or at all for that matter. But that did not stop us from cursing the water projections every stinking time they came on and the wind decided to blow our way. At some point it became so ridiculous that we could not stop laughing about the entire situation. Only our family lol.

Needless to say the show was fantastic but since I do not have a "waterproof" camera I unfortunately did not take hardly any pictures of the show at all. Ah, well most of you have seen the show I'm sure.
When the show was over we began what I like the call the herding of cattle through the winding exit of Fantasmic.

View from the front

View from the back. Like a herd of cattle.
By the time we got out is was around 7:20pm and we only had one last thing to do here

Since the in laws had missed this earlier in the week we had to let them experience the lights. Plus the weather was quite fitting this evening where as a few nights ago we were hanging around in shorts and sleeveless shirts lol. Kind of takes away from the whole Christmas thing a bit, ya know?

The lights were a hit with the in laws and I was so glad that we had gotten a second chance for them to experience this.

See how magical Disney can be? You would never know that just a couple of hours ago I was almost in tears with the image of things not working out but in the end everything always works out. And we all lived happily ever after, ya know?
After getting our fix of the dancing lights we decided that it was time for dinner but believe it or not I actually had no plans for where we should eat this time. Weird huh?

T. And yup I sure did take a picture

I have no shame.

Seriously? This just makes me scratch my head and wonder what the heck some people are thinking. Are you kidding me? And people were standing on that bus so the stroller could sit. I wonder how long it was able to pull that off. What a jerk. :faint:

OK - rant over.

Haven't even read the most recent update yet. Too focused on this.

I got a big laugh out of all the soaps in Canada. Clearly I haven't been in that gift shop for awhile. I had no idea there were that many aromas. :rotfl:

Oh YAYAYAYAY! :cool1::cool1::cool1: You got a seat - even if it was in the wet zone! So glad you and the folks got to see the show!

And fun pictures of the Osbourne lights!

Hmmmmm, Maybe from now on I'll show up late for Fantasmic. Nice score on getting seats, wet zone or not. But wow, what a range of emotions to go through leading up to it. I can definitely empathize with the water from the screens though. UGH!! OK Disney, time to come up with something new here.

Ahhh what a great one two punch with Fantasmic following by the Lights. Disney Magic indeed!

Lol feel free to rant away. No judgements here! Yeah the Canadian soaps were awesome lol.

Yes we made the show! So relieved. I was glad to that we had a second opportunity to see the Osbourne Lights since I am not sure if we will visit during this time of year again. :goodvibes
