Jimmy Carter

Dawn ITA except for Habitat for Humanity - although sometimes I think it is a farce. I am pretty much a rock-ribbed Republican but I do think on the whole Clinton did a pretty good job.

You misquoted me. I gave the person who did say that Clinton is not doing anything the link to the Clinton org, which as you pointed shows what he has been doing to combat AIDS.

Aaaackkkk! This goes to show you that I can't talk on the phone and disboards at the same time. My sincerest apologies. I fixed the quote now. Thanks for setting me straight!

You think that Habitat for Humanity is a farce or that working for it is a farce? Either way, that shows a remarkable coldness on your part IMO.

I think we've got a DIS expert on "bitter." :rotfl2:

She agreed with Dawn EXCEPT for his work for Habitat for Humanity.

She mentioned it possible being a farce.

Ah well, I'm probably reading too much into it. :confused3

Does "on the whole" count the Al Queda members who got away? Or the "wall" that was erected between the CIA and the FBI? Or terrorism being seen as a law enforcement issue? Or the failure to accept Bin Ladan from the Sudan twice because he couldn't think of what to charge him with? Or not taking a call on the golf course when Bin Laden was in the sight of the Predator? I think Clinton took a lot of polls and did a lot of nothing, leaving a lot to be done by any succeeding administration, including pulling the country out of the impending recession that started in the last year of the Clinton administration. But then, this is a thread about JC.

MTE exactly. Somehow I have to suspect that this rage has a little more to do with how Jimmy Carter's latest book portrays the failing morality of the current Administration than somebody would like to admit.

;)

Because after all, aren't Morality and Family Values Republican ideals?
:teeth:

I was going to avoid this thread after my last post :teeth: but I totally agree with this.

Not at all. No one could take anything Jimmy Carter says seriously. It will be just seen as more rantings from Mr. Peanut.

No bitterness here. WE WON!! :cheer2:
Yep, by a landslide.

But that's neither here nor there. It's time to think of the future thank goodness.

Wow - yet you say you aren't bitter.

I am absolutely NO FAN of Jimmy Carter. He was a horrible president and never misses an opportunity to embrace every left wing thug. He in fact, thought our own Revolutionary War was unnecessary. He is embraced abroad by those who are anti American and could easily be described as the United State's first anti American president. It is frightening to think of what he would have given to the Soviet Union in terms of concessions in the cold war had Reagan NOT been elected. Lets not forget that he gave away the Panama Canal that Americans built and ran. So not only was he an ineffectual president at home and abroad but he has, to say the least, been a nuisance Ex President. He is one guy that should have stuck to growing peanuts and hammering nails.

Carter may have been a weak president but until Clintont and Bush #1 started gathering funds for Tsunami relief, Carter was the only ex-president who ever did any charitable work after his term. While previous presidents only made speeches for six figures, Carter was out there giving. Believe it or not, Bill O'Reilly pointed that out!

However, in my view, he took away from the United States, by undermining foreign policy, coddling dictators and bashing Americans abroad, much more than he gave. His behavior as an ex president to me, negates all of the good that he has done for Habitat for Humanity.

When I said that sometimes I think Habitat for Humanity is a farce, what I was trying to say is that sometimes I think that the effort goes to people who are undeserving. My pregnant daughter was hanging drywall for HFH a couple of months ago so she obviously doesn't agree. I don't mean to offend but like any do-good organization it has its bumps.

I agree and unfortunately a very good organization is only as good as the local management in that area. In some areas, HFH has been a wonderful thing, in other areas, it has been taken advantage of.

Tell that to the people who are living in those houses. Talk about bitter and vengeful. Look in the mirror.

And they would have an objective view because.....?

In other words, he should shut up. He is much more "admirable" when he is silent.

He's not the only one.
