Jimmy Carter

Thought this thread was about Carter, not Nixon? :teeth:
Comments are only funny when there is a shred of truth. Nixon doesn't hold a candle to Jimmy Carter's worst presidents' award. JC stands alone.

Dawn do you ever have anything nice to say?

Back to the OP - I did meet Rosalyn and Jimmy Carter about 6 years ago and they were wonderful people. He has done more AFTER his term was up than any other. He may not have been cut out for the Presidency but he was a great MAN. He has done so much for the less fortunate all over the world. As a born and bred Georgian I'm happy to claim him. :)

How exciting for you to meet the Carters. I am a supporter of Habitat for Humanity with both my money and my time. I do agree with your assessment that he is a great man and a great American.

You do realize that some people can never say anything nice about ANY Democrat.

As far as the worst president ever, I expect G. W. Bush will far surpass Jimmy Carter.

I just did a google search on "the worst president ever" and got back all kinds of responses on GW Bush. :teeth:

I think he is one of the better ex-presidents. You dont see Clinton helping folks since he retired.

Funny you don't mention how Ford and Bush I are helping folks these days. Oh wait, Bush I is helping with the Tsunami and hurricane Katrina relief process with some other fellow. How could I forget. ;)

Clinton is also helping with a little initiative to help combat AIDS worldwide. No small feat in my book!

Again, it has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. It has to do with reality. Compare the economy alone and there is no way you can make such an assertion. Lets not Jimmy Carter holding himself hostage during the Iranian hostage crisis or the failed rescue attempt. He was a man ready to toss in the cards. Democrats long with Republicans rejoiced at the election of RR.

I am absolutely NO FAN of Jimmy Carter. He was a horrible president and never misses an opportunity to embrace every left wing thug. He in fact, thought our own Revolutionary War was unnecessary. He is embraced abroad by those who are anti American and could easily be described as the United State's first anti American president. It is frightening to think of what he would have given to the Soviet Union in terms of concessions in the cold war had Reagan NOT been elected. Lets not forget that he gave away the Panama Canal that Americans built and ran. So not only was he an ineffectual president at home and abroad but he has, to say the least, been a nuisance Ex President. He is one guy that should have stuck to growing peanuts and hammering nails.

ITA.

And the further sad joke of him and Arafat (murdering terrorist) winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

Kudos for Habitat for Humanity -- but otherwise just plain AWFUL. :sad2:

Dawn,

Have you ever criticized a Republican or complimented a Democrat?? I know there are some Democrats who are equally rabid about party politics, but be honest.

Sheri, This is a thread about Jimmy Carter. For the record, I am also not a big fan of John McCain, Christopher Shays (R) of Ct, Chaffey of Rhode Island.....

Ok, I'll say something nice about some Democrats.

Clinton was a stronger President than Carter.

I like most things that Zell Miller says.

I'm puzzled.... The Conservatives always say that things were good during Clinton's years due to former Presidents. So why weren't things bad during Carter's term due to former Presidents? I don't see how you can have it both ways. Maybe you can explain that to me Dawn. Or you Joe. Or anyone stirring the pot on this thread for that matter.

As for President Carter, I admire him greatly and don't see anything wrong with him trying to work out issues peacefully. I realize that many of you think that attacking and killing is the answer to everything but many of us don't.

Also Dawn, you mentioned a worst President award. Who hands that out and where can I read about it? Let's not get into biased sources from either side if we can avoid it.

Can't we leave Ford out of it? The man is just about 112 years old and I think he deserves a break. ;)

You misquoted me. I gave the person who did say that Clinton is not doing anything the link to the Clinton org, which as you pointed shows what he has been doing to combat AIDS.

Jimmy Carter uses Habitat to camoflauge the petty, vengeful, bitter man that he actually is

Wow.

What an absolutely horrible thing to say. I will agree that as a President of the United States, Jimmy Carter was not a good one. Although I hardly think the Democrats threw a party to celebrate when he was defeated.

But to claim all his charity work over the past 3 decades is simply a plot to camoflauge his petty bitter feelings is just ludicrous.

Prior to his presidency, I could care less what he did. After however, I agree with you completely!

I can hardly wait to hear the responses you got for this post! LOL

Actually, I don't need a source, I will give him the worst president award and I would guess that many Americans who lived through the Carter years and actually remember it, would agree with me. There is absolutely nothing wrong with working out issues peacefully as long as you have a means to impliment them. Carter's approach was one of constant equivocation and capitulation. He was seen as a weak president at home and abroad whose motto could have been "peace at any price". Hardly a position to negotiate from. While Reagan, unknowingly on mike said, "The bombing will begin in 5 minutes". The USSR knew Reagan well enough to know he might not be kidding.

As a Republican who would have NEVER voted for Bill Clinton, I actually think he did a pretty good job when he was in office. Not so for Carter I'm afraid. IMO Carter does = the worst president ever.

Would a "wolf in sheep's clothing be more to your liking?

Personally, I judging by Dawn and Joe's responses, give new meaning to being inhumane.

Please tell me what is humane about embracing the likes of Castro, Ortega, Kim Il Sung and Arafat? How is that "humane" to the people who lived under those regimes?

I don't disagree that Carter was an ineffective President. I think that he was in way over his head much like the current administration.

However to say that he is mean or a wolf in sheep's clothing is ridiculous. I doubt that any of you who are slamming him know him personally or what's in his heart. I don't either. However, to me anyone who spends so much time trying to do good things can not be bitter or mean.

I also don't think that talking to people you don't like indicates that he's a bad person. We'll just have to disagree there.
