The item is from July 8 Raising the curtain on " Raising Helen"
Interesting comments about an upcoming disney movie and the special screening process. For those of you who have been to one is this the normal process????

Yep, his story about what it is like to attend a test screening of "Raising Helen" is right on. I have been to quite a few test screenings in LA, even one at the Disney Studios, but at a different theater on the lot, for Freaky Friday. They are very interesting to do. I have been in the focus groups at the end a couple times as well. You get to see some of the people in the movie or connected to them in the back of the theater sometimes. I have seen Sherry Lancing (sp?), the head of Paramount, a couple times and Cameron Crowe at a testing of Vanilla Sky. Sometimes for bigger movies they will not tell you what you are seeing until you get to the theater and they are about to role the movie, that is what they did with Vanilla Sky.

A good few years ago when I was a student working in Boston, we were recruited outside a cinema to be part of the 'Eric the Viking' test screening.

It was held in a Loews cinema in Boston and the director of the movie (Terry Jones from Monty Python) and a lot of 'suits' were there- TJ slipped in as the movie started (I was in the next to back row and he was sitting behind me). It sounds pretty similar to what the writer of this piece describes, but I don't remember doing the last part (the post screening focus group?). We filled out questionnaires very similar to the ones described and were briefly interviewed, but to my knowledge the evening ended there.

Interesting article- regarding the movie, it does sound to me like something that has been done a million times before (young singleton bachelor/bachelorette/businessman/businesswoman suddenly catapulted into instant parentdom) cf 'three men and a baby', 'baby boom', 'big daddy'...the list goes on...
