We're going to Jiko for the first time in November. I've looked at the menu, but I was wondering if anyone could offer reviews (pictures would be lovely) of the appetizers, entrees, and desserts? It all sounds delicious in the descriptions! Thank you!

You can check out pictures in my dining report and see the details of our last trip to Jiko. But in a bit of a preview, it has moved its way up to our #1 disney restaurant. This was our 4th visit to Jiko and the food and service has always been amazing. More important it is consistent and unique, two things that always keep me coming back

It is scheduled for our November trip as well. We went 2 years ago and I still remember the wild boar appetizer. It was that good! We really enjoyed the place.

JiKo is my absolute favorite restaurant on all Disney property. The Wild Boar Tenderloin appetizer was incredible. One of the best appetizers I've ever ate. JiKo is also home to my favorite steak on property. The Filet with the substituted mac and cheese as the side. It's amazing.

Wow! Thanks for your report. The Wild Boar and pork chop look fantastic! Is it always served med rare or was that your husband's choice?

That's another vote for the appetizer.

And a 3rd vote for the boar! The filet looks very good as well; in fact, that may be what drew me to booking Jiko. Thank you for your responses!

Another vote for the filet and Mac and cheese. I've had it at least 4 times. Never disappoints. Also some of the very best service at disney. Second only to Victoria and alberts. Go go go. Go!

We've been 3 times. My daughter and her husband love the wine selection. I've had or tasted off my families plate the short ribs, scallops, swordfish (which doesn't seem to be on the menu right now), and the steak for entrees. I love the wild boar app and my daughter is obsessed with the spinach cheese thing that's in phyllo. For dessert I love the kenya coffee chocolate pot au creme but I will say I pick up on just a hint of coffee which I like but I'm not a coffee drinker, those who are big coffee lovers might be a little disappointed with that part. My daughter always gets the bread pudding...of course this is when we don't mind being sooooo full that we can't breath for a week afterwards. Going back again in September and can't wait.

oops...forgot to add the pics. a few are a little hard to see. i only had my old phone for some and it's dark in there.

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys: Za'atar-rubbed Lamb
. . . entree: Seared Barbarie Duck Breast, Chermoula-roasted Nigerian Prawns
. . . deseert:Madagascar Cheesecake
.
NOTE: Jiko was designed as African-style foods, but has become too Americanized. Gone
are the richly spiced foods. Cost cutting has reduced the uniqueness of the menu items.
It is still well above average but now is far too expensive for the menu items or the very
spotty service. Should be noted, however, that the wine cellar of African wines is quite
large and superior in offerings. There are better choices for fine dining within WDW.

Good service and good food? Sounds like a winner!

Thanks for the pictures! I like that the bread pudding comes in a little bowl. Thanks!

Thank you for the breakdown of your ratings and the notes about the food. I appreciate seeing another side of a review, too. It's nice to hear other reccomendations for dish choices as well.
