I consulted with DH, and I completely concur. We go against the grain and recommend Artist Point.
DH's point. Artisit Point serves warm, super yummy, presliced sourdough bread with normal butter. Jiko serves different bread with flavored butter, supper yummy, but not as kid friendly. If your children will be hungry, and you anticipate getting them started on the bread to eat right away, then AP would likely fit that situation better.
You don't want to start your vacation with cranky hungry kids waiting in the restaurant for some food they want to eat.
We ate at both last week. The food was excellent at both. Both resorts are beautiful and would be an enjoyable evening.
Depending on how you timed your dinner, you could also take the boat over to the Fort Wilderness Campground. They have a campfire with Chip & Dale that starts at 7:30 PM in the summer, 7:00 otherwise, I think I read. Could be a fun kickoff to your vacation.
If you have some more specific questions/concerns, I'm happy to share whatever I know/think.
