As the title suggest I was just wondering if jiko is in the area that is affected by the cashless trial for akl? I am thinking of booking a surprise signature dinner for dh and jiko is top of the list but if its credit card only then that is a deal breaker as I will have to pay fees for using my credit card abroad and in a different currency. I haven't visited akl before so I'm not sure whether jiko is affected by this or not.

From the original announcement I believe it is
Can you buy Disney Gift Cards in your currency and pay with those? That may be a crazy suggestion, but I don’t know

They were doing a trial run of cashless. Not sure if they still are. I would call Disney Dining and ask. They should have the answers.
Hope it works out for you as Jiko is a wonderful restaurant.

The cashless program is still going on and currently Disney hasn't provide a conclusion date.

How are you paying for your other meals?
We usually change up £ into $ and pay everything with cash. It's easier for us to budget that way as we know what we're spending. I'll give disney dining a call but gift cards maybe a good way of doing it (thanks for that suggestion) as I can use any remaining balance on a meal or souvenir before we go home. I'll just have to sneak down to the all star sports store while he's not looking haha

1) WDW had many complaints about going cashless.
2) For people not staying in a WDW resort, they have to use a credit/debit card or a gift card.
3) It was too inconvenient to get Gift Cards, then try to get unspent money back from them.
4) Disney wants cashless for the same reason Casinos and Cruises go cashless (and why WDW went to Magic Band changing)
. . . people do not remember how much they are spending or have spent
. . . people almost always overspend versus when they use cash (nice for increased spending patterns and added WDW profits)
. . . people more readily pull out a card than reach for money in their pocket

All the reasons I hate cashless :rotfl: i will also look at putting money on my magic band as another option.

Just as with planning with cash, I plan with gift cards. Since I can get 5% off with my Target Card, I buy enough to pay for my resort reservation and my expected dining. I've done really well so far. I've been able to use up my GC's each trip and then only had a few out of pocket expenses (or sometimes none) at the end of my trip. Each receipt shows how much is left on the GC. That may be more planning than some people wish to do, but I like to save that 5% and also pay for my trip ahead of time (I purchase GC's over time leading up to my trip).

I think it's more difficult for the OP since they don't live in the US so GC's may not be available until they arrive. Hopefully paying by MB works. I don't believe they let you "put money" on your mb account. You charge it and then pay it off. Just a reminder--pay off any charges the day before you check out or they may charge it to your cc on file early morning on checkout day! Also, depending on the resort, they may charge a cc when they hit a certain threshold. You may want to pay off several times during your stay if you plan to charge a lot to your mb.

Thanks for the mb advice! If I used m. For jiko that would be the only thing charged to it all trip, everything else would be paid in cash.
