Alas, another UNIQUE location is closing at Disneyland.....

Our Dear friends,

We want to extend our thanks for all you both have done to help us
over the years. It is with deep sadness that we must tell you that
we are closing our Disneyland location. We plan to close The "Jewel Of
Orleans" on April 15th. Due to this tough economic time we have no
choice but to focus on our two Northern California stores. We will
continue to offer sales and special deals on our company website. We
also encourage you to check us out on facebook. And please keep in
mind that our Home store in San Francisco is not far from the new
"Disney" museum!

Please feel free to call us or stop in if you have any questions.

Sorry for the bad news :sad1:

Sad but not surprising. We have been to DL many many times over the years and I always want to stop in to look, but every single time without fail over the years the store has been closed, except for this last trip! I said to hubby, the economy must have them keeping their doors open a little more! I hope they don't fill the space with more pins...or more Jack Skellington stuff....

We really enjoy browsing through the store during our wanderings at DLR. Most, if not all, of the merchandise is out of our range but there were always wonderful pieces to lust after!

I also hope they just don't turn it into another store with the same old stuff. I think it would be great if they could somehow fit in a pirate makeover place like at WDW. They have lots of shops in the corners there that they could rearrange. I think it would be a better use than another store, unless they can get an outside group with unique merchandise.pirate:

Great idea ~ my kids loved the Pirate League last Oct. ~ DD liked it more than BBB!

You & me both!

Here is where I'll probably get flamed...I know the Nightmare stuff sells like hotcakes, and I can understand why there's so much of it (especially during the times that Haunted Mansion Holiday is up), but to me it screams "Hot Topic!" & doesn't really add to the theme of New Orleans Square.

I'd be really, really happy if they brought back the kitchenwares/New Orleans specialty food mixes/cookbooks store to the area. Or the Disney Villains store.

That is too bad about the store closing. But at least the company does have other locations, so that is good. I hope something else very appealing opens in that space.

I am not going to flame you, because I totally agree! I like the NBC stuff a lot, and I liked when Le Bat en Rouge sold a lot of NBC stuff, but with this new space opening up after Jewel of Orleans closes, I would LOVE for them to put the kitchenware store back (I miss it!) and resume selling products from New Orleans like the Cafe Du Monde chicory coffee and beignet mix they used to sell, OR another Disney Villains store. Heck, didn't they just get rid of L'Ornament Magique and re-theme it into a Princess and the Frog thing? Is there even an official all-Christmas store anywhere in DLR now like there used to be? If not, put a darn Christmas store back in there!

OT, but I thought I'd mention it: if you need a chicory coffee/CdM beignet fix, Cost Plus carries them in their food section :thumbsup2

This is such a great idea!

I really would like an all-Christmas store, and it would be nice if they personalized ornaments, too.

Oh, really? It's the Cafe Du Monde kind? Cool! I can't see myself ever attempting to make beignets, but I would certainly drink the coffee! I really think that was a nice touch to NOS when it was there - selling some products directly from New Orleans.

I think so too! I really loved that little tiny year-round Christmas store that used to be in Fantasyland years ago. That L'Ornament Magique shop in NOS was not quite the same, but at least it was there. Since that changed themes, there have been conflicting reports on whether or not there is a year-round Christmas store anywhere else in DL. Someone said they thought they saw one on Main Street, but I don't know if that is an official year-round Christmas store? All I know is that if they do not have a year-round Christmas store, they need to put one back in!!

Yep...both the coffee & beignet mix are from Cafe du Monde :thumbsup2

Beignets are easier to make at home than one would think, especially with the mix!

Hmm, for a minute there I wasn't sure what the big deal was, because I thought that Jewel of Orleans had been converted to a pin shop long ago. A quick search revealed that I was thinking of La Masquerade d'Orleans.

It is a sad thing, but I'm just glad it was the jewelry shop and not Cristal d'Orleans (LOVE that place). I really hope they don't turn the place into another generic Disney merchandise shop, as that's getting pretty tiring. I'd like to see them go back to the days where there were shops that you could get unique non-Disney merchandise that fit in with the theme of the land. It really helps with atmosphere.

Btw, Jazz Kitchen Express in DtD sells cans of French Market Chicory Coffee. :)

Oh, that's too bad! We finally went in there on our December trip...they let Mom try on the diamond earrings that were well, WELL out of her price range! I wish the owner/s all the best.

A year-round Christmas store would be fantastic - fingers crossed that this is what they use the space for!

Awesome idea!! it would be perfect....who can we call to make it happen? :thumbsup2

Always a must stop for my DGF, it is going to be missed(by her).

Oh that's so sad :(. I just got a ring from there back in October, I think. It's beautiful, if i do say so myself ;). I love telling people I got it at Disneyland and they give me a "you're crazy" look, lol. Well, I'll be sure to take lots of pics when we go in March, I guess :(
