Have posted this in the 'families' section too but thought I would ask here as well as some of you have said you also travelled internationally with babies....

Wondering if anyone has advice for dealing with jetlag and children, mainly babies. Last time I felt the jetlag bad! And am concerned how it's going to affect baby girl.

She is very set in her sleeping ways, which is great. She has an hour nap in the morning, a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon and then sleeps through the night 8pm-6am.

Am dreading her sleeping all day at WDW and only napping during the night.

My DS always seemed to suffer less from Jetlag than I did. On the plane we stuck to his routine. Dinner, put PJ's on, then bed (sky bed or plane seat). He used to sleep a lot on the plane and was always refreshed when we arrived in the USA or Europe.

Then arriving, just stick as much as you can to your home routine.

We've never dealt with a little one and more than a three hour difference, but sometimes that is enough!

Depending in our schedule, I usually start adjusting at home before the trip. That means waking up a bit earlier each day/ later each day depending in which direction we are going. We don't usually make a full switch pre trip, but enough that they can handle it better.

They will get really worn out at WDW, so you can usually use that to your advantage, too.

I have traveled numerous times with babies and toddlers. The have alwasys adjusted well. What we did was stick with their normal schedule on the plane in terms of naps and bedtime. Then when we get to the USA on the very first day we do everything we can to keep them awake during the day allowing naps but not letting them go past the 2 hours. They say sunlight is the easiest way to get them through it but we never had to work that hard at it really. Then that first night go through your normal routine and both of our kids always sleep through the night and then they are on a good routine. We do the same thing on the way back.
