I've been pricing out our flights and what would have been $516 for two tix a couple days ago is now $597. Is there any likelihood that the prices will go down again? We fly in September.
Thanks!!!

Hard to say. If the price keeps going up then most likely it isn't going to drastically drop again.

Out of our home airport JetBlue is usually the cheapest when they are first released. I have found that they don't fluctuate as much as the legacy carriers do. I tend to buy JetBlue early on when possible.

Thank you. I love in southern CT so we have four airport choices which helps with searches. Looks like I'm going to have to reevaluate our flights. $300 a person seems too high.

Probably too far for you but I've had a lot of luck recently getting flights out of Manchester, NH to MCO on Southwest for about $215 per person round trip -- especially when you are willing to travel mid-week.

Isn't that funny...it's a further distance but cheaper. Now that I think of it...I never see SW on Kayak or other travel sites. Do we have to book directly from their site? I'm going to check that out.

Yes, Southwest doesn't show up in most of the travel sites. You do usually have to use their site directly.

Distance isn't always a direct factor with airline prices. The biggest factor is competition. No competition, higher prices. When I was traveling a lot for work, it was cheaper for me to fly between Pittsburgh and Los Angeles than Pittsburgh and Minneapolis.

While airfare in general seems to be going up, I suspect that prices for September travel will come down in the May/June timeframe. In my experience, about 3-months out seems to yield the best pricing. It must be nice to have 4-airport options. I only have two within a 1-hour drive.

I did not want to book airfare for last October's trip flying from the Boston area until we had FD from Disney. Got the FD PIN on May 9th and started to look at booking air. Boston was outrageous so decided we would fly from PVD. Prices stayed the same for months. Finally pulled the trigger at the end of July as the 3 month timeline had passed, at the same price they were on May 9th. Prices finally went down 8 days before our trip. so now I have a credit and no trip planned for this year.

Our travel dates were Oct 19-26.

Have you looked into booking Jet Blue out of Worcester? Seeing that it is September I would not worry about weather concerns and parking is quite reasonable. I must admit I literally live 5 minutes from the airport but was able to get 2 flights on JB out of PVD for what they wanted for one way out of Worcester. But we did get a great price for our flight home. May be worth checking it out. Good Luck!

Worcester is two hours from us and PVD is about the same. I used to live up there. I loved it.

I'm going to hold on to the hope that you're right. I can afford to gamble a little with the prices but who wants to pay more? I am a planner and if I don't have firm plans set in place, I feel so uneasy. I'll hold off a bit and play the waiting game.

We use JB out of HPN and I feel like the prices have gone up. I used to have it set in my mind that we were doing pretty well if airfare was between $600 and $750 for the three of us. In pricing out October or December, I'm finding $825-ish all the way up to close to a grand is the best I can do. And not over a holiday weekend.

I was looking back at some of my old emails from 2007 and 2008 and practically wanted to cry seeing those glorious $59 fares! Miss those days.:sad1:

I am going in October, booked JetBlue out of LaGuardia (630AM flight on a Sunday) and coming back late morning to HPN 10 days later on Wednesday, avoided the city due to rush hour traffic, I live in Orange County so HPN won't be too bad.

Seems with flights its just the cost of doing business, I like that they don't charge for 1 bag (me and my fiancé only need 1 each) and after a horrid trip to South Carolina a few years ago we will only do direct flights.

2 tickets round trip for $576, not bad for us

HPN would be so convenient for us but it's usually the highest price. I flew Spirit in '04 for $39 one way. That was great! I'll keep looking and pricing. I like JetBlue the best but I'll happily use any other airline if we can get a good deal. We use either HPN, LGA, JFK or BDL

Yes, HPN does seem pricier than the other NY-area options. We usually are willing to pay a little extra because it's closer and the parking is a deal at the SUNY lot that started up a couple years back. We bit the bullet and booked for October. Ended up being $275 round trip. Could've saved a few bucks going out of JFK but convenience won out!:goodvibes

We've gotten some good deals on Delta out of LGA in the past. Not sure what their current pricing is but may be worth a look if you're not set on JB.

It seems the Jet Blue fares for HPN have gone up ever since SW discontinued Air Tran out of the airport--no competition = higher prices.

we are flying SW out of BDL for the first time this year. We booked the morning they released their schedule at got $272 RT with perfect flight times, which is $75-300 less than other comparable flights out of BDL, HPN, JFK, LGA, & EWK. I am a little nervous about SW's lack of assigned seating as there are 8 of us flying and 4 children under 9 who have never flown before, but i am relieved these flights are booked and were reasonable as I continue to see flight prices go up and up.

Hi everyone. Haven't been on these boards for about a year, but now that my vacation is booked I've been reading postings on this site again. I gained so much helpful info last year.

I booked our airfare back in February. It will be 2 adults and 2 kids. We will be spending 3 weeks at Bonnet Creek in July. The only problem that we have is that no one in my family drives so we have to rely on cabs alot. I've read recently that the shuttles from BC cost $6 per person r/t per day, but they don't run that often.

We love BC with all the pools and lazy rivers. The kids, 1 14-year old and 1 4-year old really love BC. That's the only place they want to go. They like having all the room.

Back in February when I booked our flights out of LaGuardia, I paid $1104 for 4 people. Today when I priced the same flights, the cost went up to $1564. I can't believe it - $460 more in 2 months.

I always check to see if the price goes down, but it never seems to happen.

How much higher will those flights go up when it gets closer to 7/11 - the day we leave?

Can't say much for JetBlue but it's common practice to evaluate monthly for profitable causes. If they can make money then they will hike it accordingly until it stales out...
(I work for Allegiant and it's also common practice) hopefully it doesn't continue but as long as revenue is increasing so will price until they drain it dry.

I was just playing around for dates in September and early December with both SouthWest and Jet Blue. Jet Blue is actually cheaper than the other but they have changed their times for the non stop flight out of Buffalo to Orlando. I love to get there really early.
