just had to say that jetblue now flys out of an airport 20 minuts from my house. i live in new york and round trip to orlando is only 150.00:banana: no more flying out of new york city and dealing with that mess:rotfl: i see lots of weekend trips in my future:thumbsup2

i just hope it lasts. its a small airport and the last airline to do it, didnt stay there long because of low ticket sales

I'm 15-25 minutes from LGA and JFK. Since we only travel when school is out, I can never get in Jetblue's great deals.

I hope you have better luck.

no its stewart airport in newburgh ny. airport code (swf) i just checked for a rate in the middle of jan of 07 on jetblue.com to orlando and it was 74.00 one way. its a great airport you park your car and the gates are right there. its really an airforce base that has commecial flights.

That is great news. We love JetBlue and I try to fly them any time I can.

Allegiant was doing fine non-stop to Sanford until JetBlue and AirTran both announced that they were coming. Now we don't have Allegiant anymore. I'll never fly AirTran because the lines to check-in at Orlando are horrendous.

Which airport is it flying out of? Would that be Islip/Macarthur?

I live VERY close to that airport.

I've flown from Stewart before....great airport and now it will be even greater with JetBlue!:thumbsup2

oh darn...i checked newark and it was 217..150 is awesome! there are 4 of us so those few $ on each tkt make a difference.

I am flying next week from Newburgh to Sanford on Allegent. They have suspended service the day before we return so they are setting us up with Airtran from Orlando to Newburgh which is actually very convienent as we are going to Daytona for the first two days and then to Disney for the marathon and another 4 days. Newburgh will be a big airport soon enough but for now it is a hidden treasure!!:yay:

We'll see what happens with Stewart. It's only 15 minutes from my house so I'm looking forward to using JetBlue and/or AirTran in the future. There has been talk of expansion for the last 15 years, but little has happened until now. Now the low cost carriers they were lookng for have set up shop, a new exit off of the highway (I84) direct to the airport will improve access, and things look like they are taking off.

I'm not concerned about JetBlue ot AirTran having a tough go of it. Allegiant was doing ok, but they have pulled out because they can't compete now on the routes to Florida. The PanAm Clipper Connection was another small carrier that had flights to Florida and pulled out, but that was because of problems they had in providing sufficient aircraft, as well as financial problems that had nothing to do with their Stewart operations.

There is talk that the Port Authority may buy the lease for Stewart and operate it as another NYC outlet. Anything that helps the fortunes of the airport while relieving congestion in LGA/JFK/EWR could be a good thing.

Oh, ok.

I'm still hoping that Jetblue begins service from Islip/Macathur Airport

I wish so too. That would be great. JFK is a quicker ride for me, but a little longer ride to ISP would be worth it to not have to deal with all of the parking and construction issues at JFK.
