JetBlue: check our bags or carry on?

I've never flown jetblue before.. what's better checking or carry on?

It totally depends on what you are thinking of carrying on or checking. Jet Blue has guidelines for what size items you can bring on the plane on their website, that should answer your question.

And it depends on how long you're going for. If its a week or more, check it. It's free! Especially if it's non stop, the likelihood of it getting there is pretty good. Carry it on if only going a few days.

Check the bags. It is free and you don't have to worry about them. Especially if you are using Magical Express. They will just appear in your room!

Definitely check the bags! and don't forget if you are using the Magical Express, you don't even have to go to pick them up upon arrival which is the best part!

I seldom go with carryon only if I can check a bag for free. My dd and I are flying JB from Logan to MCO in 3 weeks or so....we'll be doing one checked bag for the two of us. It's a short trip and I could probably make do with each of us using a carryon bag, but I hate having to lug them through the airport. So, small carryon for each of us and one free checked bag.

For anything longer than an overnight trip I always check my bag when I am able to check it for free. Since JetBlue allows you to check one bag for free, I would recommend checking it. The only potential downside is that you might have to wait in a line to check your bag.

Believe it or not we've been doing the last couple trips with carry on only, as an experiment, to save on the checked bag fee. We packed pretty tightly, and figured that because we had a 1 BR DVC, we could just do laundry and re-use clothes. It worked out but was a tight fit. But if the bag check was free we'd certainly take advantage.

One small note about DME....yes, you will get the bags brought to your room, but in some cases there can be a long delay before that happens. Best case scenario is a few hours after you arrive, so be aware you can't get to your room and just tear open your bags for your favorite outfit, or your bathroom, bag, etc; you will have to wait for it. This can be a minor annoyance you have to plan for.

ANY time you fly anywhere it's common sense to pack a carry-on with whatever items will be needed for the first 24 hours at the destination. Airlines misdirect about three million pieces of luggage per year.
