Hey, just got an offer from Jetblue Amex. Apply & make a purchase, I'll get 20,000 welcome bonus points. There's a $40 annual fee.

My question is this. Who here uses the Jetblue Amex? It says it takes 6-8 weeks to get the rewards. How hard are they to use? It says no blackout dates...but are there x amount of seats per flight that can be booked w/ these? For example, I want the 6am flight out...if 100 people used rewards to book, can I? Or will they tell me no?

How many points is a flight for JFK-MCO? Is 20,000 really 2 RT flights?

Any info/experience you can provide will help in my decision!! I'm so tempted to do this...not that I need another card, but how can I pass on this? Spend $40, save $400?

TIA everyone!

we did a deal similiar to this last year with Amex. We transfered our miles to Southwest. 24,000 was a round trip flight on SW. We had not problem getting the free round trip ticket. The good thing was we had a few rapid rewards with SW already so we actually didn't have to transfer the full 24,000 it was nice that they "worked together".
I like the amex card, they just did a promotion for several months where it was triple points for gas and grocery purchases. The points really added up.

Love, love, love my JetBlue Amex :lovestruc

For years I've been "cash only", but ever since I got my JB Amex I use it for everything I would normally pay cash for - and pay it off at the end of the month.

I can't give you specifics about points - since JB recently changed their reward program and I've only ever redeemed flights under their old True Blue Program. However - the last time I checked, I thought it was about 13K points for ONE round trip flight from JFK. Of course - day, date, time, etc. will vary the points. (Although I've never done it - they also allow you to purchase points if you find yourself just a few points shy of a reward.)

I have never had a problem using my points - I've never not been able to get my first choice of flights.

My opinion is "go for it". I've gotten so many free flights over the years - it is (for me) well worth the $40 a year. :thumbsup2

Hope that helps,
Laura

Definitely helps!! I did go for it. I applied & was approved. Thru Jetblue's site I was actually able to "price" out my flights. Mid September it was approx 14000 pts for one rd trip. Still worth it, I think. I'm under the impression it goes by segment, so if I have say, 25,000 pts, I can use it for 3 one ways. So get 1 1/2 tickets free.

Now the question is gonna be do I use my Jetblue Amex or Disney Visa & rack up the points. LOL I use Disney for everything & pay off. I rarely carry a balance. I swore never to have a card w/ an annual fee, but this sounds worth it...

Wish they had a Southwest/Jetblue combo! LOL
