Ok... I have a choice... differnce is about $50 .. Jet Blue out of Boston.. or Delta our of Harford... They arrive an hour difference.. Delta getting into orlando at 10:20.. and Delta an hour later... Any suggestions..??

My preference?? Definately JetBlue...comfy seats, directTV......since Song airlines was taken over by Delta, I switched to Jetblue and have been happy!

Both non-stops?
Which one is more expensive?
Which airport is closer to home for you?

yes.. both nostop... delta..hartford is about $20 cheaper.. Hartford is about 15 minutes farther.. but easier to get to.. do to less traffic than boston...

I'd go with the less expensive choice. But I'd factor in the cost of parking at the airport when deciding - BOS is much more expensive than BDL for parking.

You might also check PVD.

My context: We'll be travelling from Vermont to Boston to leave on Jet Blue for our next Disney trip. Our major driver is the much lower cost than leaving from Burlington, VT. And our vehicle will be spending two weeks at our daughter's place in Newton.

While I understand the traffic issue around Boston, I'd suggest an early start and avail yourself of Jet Blue. We've flown Delta and we've flown Jet Blue both many times - from Vermont and Boston - and Jet Blue has replaced Delta as our preferred airline when cost doesn't tip the balance. We really liked Delta's Song subsidiary that tried to act like Jet Blue but Jet Blue's more comfortable seating, seat space and the little televisions in the back of every seat all contribute to making that airline the preferred one. The larger issue for us, though, is that Jet Blue tends to stick to their schedule (sometimes adjusting flight times by a few minutes one way or the other) while Delta, as most of the legacy carriers, always seems to change the schedule or cancel a flight putting us on some flight that we didn't choose - and I really don't like that.

If you had a guarantee that your flight schedule wouldn't change, then I'd suggest that you follow OKW Lover's suggestion to go with the lower cost, but for only a $20 difference and the almost guaranteed higher parking charge at Logan I'd still go with Jet Blue knowing that, weather permitting, I'd be in Orlando when I expected to be.

Thanks everyone... I think we are going with Jet Blue... i wont need to pay for parking.. each airport is about an hour away so we will be having people drive us and pick us up.. speaking of that.. do I really want my father driving me in Boston??:scared1:

Well, yeah - taking the time into consideration...

Mass Pike, to Ted Williams Tunnel, to Logan. Not really driving "in" Boston, but through it - and yes, there really IS a difference.

Of course, having him drive you at 10 AM on a Sunday is a very different
experience from 5:30 PM on a Friday...

Another option would be to have him drive you to (and or pick you up from) the Logan Express location in Framingham. $20 per person round trip, children under 12 ride free, buses depart every half hour about sixteen hours a day - so again, timing matters - and stop at each terminal.

I just faced the same question and picked Jet Blue even though they were slightly more expensive. The last two years we flew Delta and I have had it with them changing the schedule and losing seats constantly. Jet Blue was $65 more for 4 tickets ($16/ticket) and I figure for that I get TVs and not having to deal with Delta.

I have to admit I'm a little nervous about this. As much as I dislike Delta, I am very familiar with them and their ways. Jet Blue is totally new for me. I don't know what I need to look out for with them.

Avoid Delta at all costs...

We like Delta. We only fly with them, AirTran (which is my least favorite), and JetBlue. Delta has had their issues, but they ALWAYS have taken care of us. We were stranded last February in Rochester, NY for 18 hours, and they provided us with 400 Delta Dollars each, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and breakfast vouchers, and they put us up in a hotel that I would never be able to afford. Another time when they sent my luggage to Savannah instead of Orlando, they worked all night long to get it back since we were cruising the next morning.

Probably nothing, unless you are connecting into JFK :sad2: I really like JetBlue, they just aren't always the best priced ticket for us.

I book all of our flights at least 9 months out. I book the cheapest seats and cheapest times with Delta. Then when all of the switching times and planes starts, I call them up and request to be put on a specific flight. I have never had a problem making a request once they look at all of the changes on my intinerary. If you go into a reservation knowing things are going to change, you are much better off.

I am having the same dilemma.

Jet Blue or Delta. I am leaning towards Jet Blue though.

Delta would be $270 out of Hartford (this is for August) per person (there are 5 of us). Hartford is about 45 min from us. We know the airport/parking & the plane seats would work great as we can sit in one row 3 on one side & 2 on the other so we wouldn't have to ask anyone to move if we had to get up (3 kids). We'd also drive to the airport & it would cost over $100 to park (main lot so I am sure it would be close to $150). Direct flight too. The only thing I hate other then the price is the return leaves at 11 am ish & we took that the last time we went & it was just tooooooo early for me.

Jet Blue on the other hand we'd take out of White Plains. It is $99 one way so we'd save $280 ish (doing math quickly) by doing that.

White Plains is about an hour & a half from us, OK maybe a bit less but we can stay at my parents house & they are about 30-35 min from HPN (White Plains).

My father can take us to the airport no problem & pick us up but my dh isn't so keen on that idea & I don't know why since we'd save almsot $300 on the flight & we'd save another $100+ on parking.

He wants me to find a hotel that we can stay at & park there too. OY!

And I like the return on Jet Blue which is leaves at about 4.

At least I still have time & worst case scenerio we'd drive.

Since SONG Has been gone we only fly Jet Blue. (We loved Song) Nothing but, problems we have experinced wth Delta after Song closed. We only fly Jet Blue now.

I wonder what changed since Song was absorbed back into Delta. They used the same reservation system and had many of the same policies whether flying Delta or Song.

We flew Delta out of Boston in October. I booked the flights I wanted about 10 months in advance. Yes, they changed the schedule 6 times in the ensuing 10 months. But the final flights were actually better times for us, they gave us more time in the World.
I like both. Delta has its issues - all legacy carriers do. Jet Blue has its issues too, and it is not as comfortable to fly out of Boston.
With a slight difference in price, I would go with the one with the best price.

Go with JetBlue! I've had nothing but great experiences. They leave on time and arrive on time. I agree with Steven & Daniel. Delta is horrible! Delays, delays, delays!!!! [/SIZE]

I live in central MA too and always fly out of Hartford as parking is cheap and the airport is so much smaller and more efficient than Logan. If you must have TV's, then JB is the only choice. All of the Delta flights from BOS and BDL are on MD-88's without entertainment of any sort. if your flight is in the morning, the TV is full of infomercials and not very entertaining.

The bigger question for you is why not SWA out of BDL, PVD, or MHT? All have more direct flights than JB or Delta and all have cheap parking and easy airport access for dropoff's and pickup's (the Logan cell phone lot is in the middle of nowhere and the state police make you leave after 30 minutes - no gray area if flights are delayed. They also hassle you if you try and wait in the pickup lane at terminal A for more than 5 minutes). Also a choice with direct flights at Logan is AirTran which at least has XM Radio for entertainment and offers first class upgrades on day of travel for $30 to $50.

I have lifetime Gold medallion status on Delta due to 2MM flight miles on them, but I would not recommend them anymore - too many problems in the last 18 months and customer service is not a priority.

You didn't say when you'd be flying, but JB and Delta will cut their schedule back drastically after mid-April, so the options dwindle until the seasonal uptick in November.

The cushy Song planes were reconsigned to longer flights, so they stopped using them for EastCoast flights (i.e. boston to orlando). I stopped using Song when they got rid of my plane. Went to JetBlue (direct flights only, so far) and have had marvelous luck with them.
