check those JB fares. Mine dropped this morning. I saved $35 a ticket for my May trip. I'm excited that my fare dropped from $94 to $59.

Thank you very much for this post!!! I was reading this thread and saw your post...which made me look for flights out of Dulles...sure enough $59 each way. So I booked. This is the lowest I have seen (and this is what we got last year for our June 2009 trip).

We prefer JetBlue when traveling with kids.

I have no problem with the boarding process at SW. It is much improved since the 'cattle call' days. Really not all that different than other airlines.

Except Southwest is the only airline with open seating. You have to check in early or risk the chance of getting stuck in a middle seat.

I would pick Jet Blue. I don't fly them because they don't fly to all the cities I go to and I fly an airline that is part of an international alliance, but for a once-a-year trip to Disney, they would be quite good.

I think the in-flight entertainment would be worth any additional cost.

Well, uva, don't you think you should accept at least some of the responsibility there? I mean, I have simply opted to not fly anywhere JetBlue doesn't go*. You could simply do the same - work, family obligations, and general travel desires notwithstanding :rotfl2:

*Except, yes, someday, I would like to travel overseas - to France, or Hawaii (yeah, yeah, I know ;)) or Australia

.

True, but SW seldom changes their flights vs JB's doing it sometimes. I have no problem checking in at the 24 hr mark. If there is some reason why I can't do that, then I will pay the addtl $10 fee for EBCI. I have never had to take a middle seat if flying solo. Yes, I do take one when flying with someone else..but that is my choice.

that's great! I had booked at the higher rate because it kept going up and was happy to see the drop. I'm in WDW right now, but called Jetblue and had the amount adjusted and now have a credit of $210 in my trueblue account! Glad they see honor the lower price.

Have never flown with JB, right now they have my dates for July for $94 o/w....do JB flights generally go up or down getting closer to the date? I know there is no for sure, I am just wondering if I should book at that price.

I was going to book SW this morning at $69. ea way, the price was that for the last 2 days but couldnt book, so now I go to do it first thing this morning and they are $104. ea ea way :scared1: So dont know what to do...LOL!!!!:confused3

You're right! Silly me, I guess I should have considered where Jet Blue flew when I moved to CAE too :rolleyes1

I have found flight prices with JetBlue to be steady from when they are released to about 2-3 months out, then its a free for all. Somedays up, somedays down. I have gotten a great rate at 2 weeks out, and have also seen really high rates at 2 weeks out. My guess is it just depends on the availibility on the flight.

If it is possible that you would fly JetBlue again within a year, you can get a credit if the flight drops in price with no additional fees. I just received a $60 credit ($20/tix), because my return flight dropped. Just keep checking on the price of your flights.

Thanks Danielle...so that is like SW...I am just going to go with either one of the them basically whoever gives the best price...hee hee...I just want to get there. Our flights out of Toronto are insane so we go out of buffalo so have to add on extra $100. for parking. Still WAY cheaper than TO....

I WISH we could luck into a good fare on Jet Blue again. So far, we've only been able to catch a decent fare once. I always look and compare them to Air Tran & SW but usually end up on Air Tran out of BWI rather than going to Dulles because there is no comparison on the prices. But we loved them the one time we used them. For our spring break trip we're going down on SW and home on Air Tran. Not happy about the SW thing but they were about $77 cheaper per person at the time the schedules were released for that leg. I have been watching the Air Tran prices for that leg and they never did drop as low as SW so I guess I did as good as could be expected for spring break flights.

Thanks for all the inputs. After looking at everything, and the fact that Southwest:

1) May not have hotel luggage check-in when we are there

2) Still does not have flight info open

I just booked my tickets on JetBlue, round trip from DC to Orlando for 2, leaving on a Mon, coming back on Sun for under $400!

I assume Dulles? I'm booked on Jetblue for May, Sept, Oct, and late Oct and paid $59 pp each way. Right now their schedule only goes to Oct. 31, so will be watching to book our flight home on Nov. 12! I love JB!

Yes, it is Dulles. The trip to Orlando was only $61 for Columbus Day travel (Monday). The cost was the trip back. Originally, we were doing Saturday, which would have been $89, but we changed it to Sunday, and that was $121 per person.

Quality over quantity matters. Spend the extra money on jetBlue. Free snacks and drinks, television with movies, and 2" extra seat pitch and coach is what makes your dollar worth it on jetBlue.

Gosh, that is not my experience at all with Jet Blue. (the fares holding steady part) For my March trip, their fares jumped from $89 each way to $195 ONE way (over night)and for this August, I looked and the fares went from $79 to $139, to non-stop just totally disappearing from their schedule. Within 1 week of looking. I had to wait because I was waiting on the school to give me their schedule. Now, I am stuck again between paying a lot for my flight and driving twice as far to Boston or Manchester. I love Jet Blue but not their crazy fare hikes! We are still 5 months out - so I am not sure what is up. I am talking end of August so not prime time. Schools in Maine go back in late August.

That actually happens with most airlines...the ups and downs. I find that I just go on the website every day...because I know with JetBlue they ARE going to offer the best deal (they do not charge for the first bag either nor do they charge for seat selection unless you choose the seats with the more leg room) from where we live. Unfortuantely, they do no fly lots of places.

I think there is a website...which I can't remember that will monitor airlines and their prices for you...but, for me...I just went on Jet Blues web site every morning...and paid attention to threads like these...that is how I found out the price went down...the poster was from my area!!! Also, we are flying out on a Wednesday and back on a Tuesday...both those days are some of the least expensive days for Jet Blue (I beleive Tuesday is supposed to be the least busiest day for flying)

Yapta.com will monitor airline flight prices. That is who I use to track my flights. They'll send out an email to you when the price drops. I also regularly just check my flights on JetBlue just in case. On my April/May flights I started at $69 down and $89 back. I currently have credits to reflect the price drop to $55 each way.

The pricing has been up and down, (currently $89/$82), but since I can get credit, I buy when I'm okay with the price and then keep checking for the drop in price and call for the credit to use for the next set of flights I book.

I agree. I also use Yapta and recently I got nervous about our trip next month and had not booked our flight for the 6 of us. I missed the $79 fare and everytime I sat down to buy it would jump again. So I booked it at $94 each and while I was in WDW 2 weeks ago the rate dropped to $59, so I called JB and I now have a credit of $210! in my trueblue account. Yapta is still a little quirky sometimes, but it does help and is a great aid.
