I have a credit for Jet Blue that I must use by December. It just has to be used to buy the ticket by then, but as long as the ticket is purchased it can be used later than December.

Does anyone know if I can purchase a ticket for October 2014 in December 2013?

Thank you. :)

Also, if I have purchased a ticket and the rates drop am I able to get a credit?

I would say that it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to book an October flight in January as JetBlue usually doesn't release that far in advance. Found this on flyertalk.com:

A brief (and probably incomplete) history of schedule extensions from JetBlue:

3 April 2013: the schedule extended through 6 January 2014.
3 February 2013: the schedule extended through 26 October 2013.
16 December 2012: the schedule extended through 3 September 2013.
30 September 2012: the schedule extended through 19 June 2013.
22 July 2012: the schedule extended through 30 April 2013.
20 May 2012: Schedule extended through 13 February 2013.
25 March 2012: Schedule extended through 6 Jan 2013
19 February 2012: Schedule extended through 27 October 2012
6 November 2011: Schedule extended through 4 September 2012
17 July 2011: Schedule extended through 30 April 2012
26 June 2011: Schedule extended through 15 February 2012
27 April 2011: Schedule extended through 3 January 2012
7 March 2011: Schedule extended through 29 October 2011
18 October 2010: Schedule extended through 6 September 2011
16 August 2010: Schedule extended through 3 May 2011
19 July 2010: Schedule extended through 28 February 2011
19 April 2010: Schedule extended through 4 January 2011
3 December 2009: Schedule extended through 31 October 2010
16 July 2009: Schedule extended through 28 February 2010
8 May 2009: Schedule extended through 4 January 2010
6 March 2009: Schedule extended through 31 October 2009
11 December 2008: Schedule extended through 8 September 2009
5 September 2008: Schedule extended through 30 April 2009
25 April 2008: Schedule extended through 31 January 2009
29 December 2007: Schedule extended through 2 September 2008
3 April 2006: Schedule extended through 31 October 2006

Regarding your second question: When fares drop on JetBlue you can get a credit issued.

JetBlue will not give a credit on flights purchased with a credit.

Yes they will. The credit goes back to the original credit expiration. However, I am not sure what happens if that date has passed.

For my upcoming trip we are booked we had $25 Bill of Rights credits, when I called because our price dropped the new credit had to go back to the original travel bank each time with $25 of it expiring on the original date. Even when we passed the $25 (we have $64 in credits) it still had to go back to the original travel bank.

Normally, I could have all the credits for my family put into my travel bank which is what we normally do to make booking online easier the next time around.

Maybe the date had passed when I tried to do it(I didn't think so) or maybe I just got someone who didn't know how to it.

I too try to get them all into my travel bank account.

I love using www.yapta.com for tracking the flight prices.

Just want to come back and thank you for posting this! Today I called and got a credit of $57.30 for a ticket I paid for on one confirmation and then asked about getting credits for my other 4 family members that I used credits for and got an additional $228.80.:yay::yay::yay: I think the first one expires in September so I'm sure I'll be able to use it.

Yes they will. They did it for me a few weeks ago, even gave credits on points I used.
Between credits and points I booked round trips for two for a total of $225 BOS > MCO
