Jet Blue from Austin is about 200.00 cheaper than Southwest from Houston. The savings would pay off on the drive because I need 6 tickets.

But I have never flown Jet Blue. How do they compare to Southwest? I see that both have 1 bag free, Jet Blue has entertainment (with 2 kids that would be great) both have non-stops.

What I can't really tell is - does Jet Blue have pre-assigned seating without having to pay for it. Is there any other "hidden" fees after you purchase the ticket?

Does anyone know what type of plane is used to fly to Orlando from Austin? Is it the 2 seats on each side or the 3 seats on each side?

Jet Blue is a great airline. Yes you can choose your seat for no extra cost, except if you want the more legroom seats. The one bag free is great and the nickel and diming you to death is less than many other airlines. And the in seat entertainment is great. You do have to pay for headphones unless you bring your own.

The benefit of Jet Blue is the assigned seating. you don't pay extra for it unless you want extra legroom seats. We flew to FLL this winter from AUS on JetBlue and loved it. We are flying them to WDW in May.
