Jesus wasn't resurrected

A merciful God wouldnt drown thousands of people either. no He did just that.

A merciful God wouldnt destroy cities and kill scores of people. Wait a minute, He destroyed Sodom & Gamorah.

A merciful God wouldnt harden Pharoah's heart and send plagues upon people and even kill their first born. Wait, He did that too?

God IS a God of mercy but also a God that demands justice as well.

So according to you, everyone gets to heaven? There is no narrow road?

According to you, God cannot offer more than one road. Prove you are right. Frankly, if you are, I could care less about that god then. I am cool with God and he is cool with me. We have a relationship and you have no right to state that unless it is like yours, then it is worthless. Only God can judge that and gee... I am willing to let him decide, not you. :lmao:

I was going to respond to aquinas, but realized I could not have said it better than what I quoted above. As a Christian, that attitude does sadden me. How can I sit here and make an eternal judgement upon someone else?? How can you say you believe in God and then take over His job???

All I can say is that I've chosen the path that I feel is right for ME. I have no place casting judgement on anyone else's choices.

Who is taking over God's job? Not me. I am only saying what the Bible teaches. That is why Jesus gave us the great commission so that the gospel can be proclaimed to the ends of the earth. So that every people group has teh opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.

SO, if a loved one is a professing aithest or agnostic, do you just say "live and let live?" and not try to share the gospel with them? How about if you have children and they depart from the Christian faith are you going to just feel that they should just chose the path that is right for them?

I will ask you the same question: Does everyone get to heaven? Is the road narrow or broad?

Most Christians I know do not "believe" that Jews are going to Hell. I don't think that anyone posting here has stated that either.

agnes!

Nah, I know most don't. I am aware it is just an absurdly vocal minority that are willing to pitch all those who do not share their beliefs into a firey pit. :) And I never said all Christians believe that, but some indeed do.

Unlike you I will not tell others where they are going. God will decide who does and does not get to Heaven with him. That will come back to bite you in the you know what when you come to your end. God is not smiting people all over the world today. We have free will and some of us use it for good and others to judge.

Does anyone know the exact title of the show or its air date so I can set my TiVo to record it? I'd like to see it before I decide my opinion about it.

It will air Sunday night (twice; at 9:00p and then at 1:00a) on the Discovery Channel. Its called "The Tomb"

I get your point that Jews don't need a Savior or salvation. Is The Messiah/ha'mashiach the same thing as a Savior? I thought that Jews were still awaiting God's Son, but that they don't believe that Jesus of Nazareth was that person.

agnes!

Hi Agnes.... As there is no eternal damnation in Jewish belief there is no *salvation* concept...Salvation is a Christian term...There are times in jewish history where Jews talk about being saved but that is a literal sense,,saved from a bad ruler, saved from a war etc....
For Christians Messiah = Savior
For Jews Messiah equals a Political leader, someone to isseu in the Messianic age.An age of peace and prosperity..He has nothing to do with redemption or atonement as Jews have and have always had, many ways to atone

So the Jews are still waiting for Messiah?

I saw the last special that Cameron produced with Simcha Jacobovici for the Discovery Channel (or maybe the History Channel). It focused on the possibility that the Exodus took place 300 years before tradition says it does. It claimed to offer proof that the Exodus really happened (which, while I beleive it did, is disputed by many archeologists). He also claimed to have found an image of the Arc of the Covenant and the locaction of Mt Sinai (where Moses received the 10 Commandments).

I watched the special with great interest. To be honest, I would have loved to have seen Jacobovici's claims about the Arc and the Exodus proven true, but this did not happen. Not even close. The "science" he used was flimsy and sloppy. He chained together strings of unproven theories and conjectures, then later used them as proven facts on which to build his next chain of unproven theories and conjectures. His final conclusions were built on so many "maybe"s, "probably"s and "possibly"s that there was just no way to take them seriously from a scientific standpoint. Many of the ideas he presented were facinating and deserve futher research in my opinoin, but he did not prove anything, or even come close to it. It was an hour of interesting conjecture disguised as serious scientific research. I respected his opinions, but they were just that, opinions, not science. The problem was he presented them as science.

Sorry, but if that last special was any evidence of the "science" that Camaron and Jacobovici practice, then I can't beleif that their current endeavor is worth my time. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... I have no problem with the Discovery Channel airing this show, but I personally have no desire to watch a documentary produced by 2 people who have a proven track record of sloppy research and questionable conclusions.

I really can't wait to see who gets post 666

Strangely enough, there was a group in Israel called "Jews for Jesus". One of them owned a bookstore down the street from us. It was a truly unique perspective.

I won't get into them on the board. I don't want to stir up controvery on the board.. They are not well thought of by the jewish community... To be clear I am not speaking of all messianic Jewish groups, but Jews for Jesus specifically...If you want details I can PM you.

I pretty much can't stand any messianic Jewish group, but JFJ have a special place on my "hate" list. :hippie:

But you are right, this thread is the wrong place to discuss them.

Are Jews waiting for the Messiah, ala the Left Behind series, or is that something only Christians believe?

No...Nothing like the Left Behind scenario...There is no Armagedden type scenario ..No rapture of the faithful etc..
