Jesus wasn't resurrected

There isn't a way (as far as I can tell) to prove that God does or does not exist. Jesus DID exist. There were thousands of eye witnesses who actually saw him.

I think the hypothetical you propose is interesting but impossible. However if you'd like to talk to people who believe in things that never happened, just find yourself a Scientologist and ask them about Xenu!

No it isn't impossible.

The only proof you have of Jesus even existing is supposed eyewitness accounts written by people third or fourth hand down and who were definitely not there. There is no physical proof Jesus existed.

Regardless, your faith is your faith. My question is what happens if you find what you believed in isn't the truth. What if James Cameron is right?

I agree, it's just like Xenu. :lmao:

So what now. Are we comparing which story has more holes? Dianetics, The Bible, Cameron's new movie?

Cameron is nowhere near being right. There are so many holes in this that you would have to have a faith in his theory that would exceed the most devout Christian faith. Cameron is asking the viewers to take great leaps and bounds to join him in his conclusions. Not that Cameron has been known for his historic accuracies in his films like the Titantic where he shows smoke blowing from all four smokestacks when one was actually a fake smokestack in reality. He couldnt get a minor detail like that correct what makes you think that he has anything close to correct in this piece. It is just another work of science fiction from Cameron.

Larry King Live had a show on this last night that I watched. They trotted out James Tabor who had previously asserted in one of his books that Joesph wasnt the father of Jesus and now he says on Larry King that these claims of the "lost tomb" are credible? talk about lack of credibility.

Every year around this time, heresies like this spring up. It is no coincidence.

Your casting aspersions on James Cameron aside, what if he is right?

Exactly! They're all filled with holes. That's why they call it faith and not fact.

Jesus may have existed, but you cannot prove he was anything other than human. That is the faith part. :)

ABSOLUTELY :thumbsup2 ...which is why this nonsense by James Cameron and company is so laughable. They can't disprove who he was or what he did. They can't prove that the bones are even THE Jesus's. So who gives a hoot about this "finding"?

There is no "what if" in this case. The lack of credibility of this farce is just astounding.

But are you willing to stake your life on "what ifs"? just curious.

The Gospels were first hand accounts of Jesus and Jospehus references Jesus as well in his writings.

SIGH...OH HOW I HAVE BEEN SO WRONG! How could I have not seen it. Thank you cardaway and all the other atheists here for opening my eyes. JAMES CAMERON is right! Jesus never existed...or he did and was just some dude...either way, YAY no more religion!

I can tell you one place I know of that's filled with "holes". Have a blessed day..oops, I mean have a scientifically-empirically-accurate day!

I don't understand how he can prove he's right any more than anyone else can prove he's wrong. Historical records from that time period are sketchy at best. It's pretty well established that record keeping was not to today's standards of accuracy. He can drag out a bunch of experts that say he's right, and someone else can drag out another bunch of experts that say he isn't. Both sides will have all kinds of graphs and charts and explanations proving their explanation is the right. I don't think he'll be able to prove that those bones are definately beyond a reasonable doubt who he thinks they are any more than anyone can prove definately beyond a reasonable doubt that they are not.

Ah, but you see, we 'athesists' aren't TRYING to open your eyes. We're just posing interesting, thought-provoking questions. Believe, or don't believe, it doesn't matter to me- as long as you show me equal respect.

Doesn't stop people from trying to find eveidence of the great flood or any other bible stories.

I'm not staking my life on anything. Obviously, you can't or won't, entertain the possibility that what you believe in may or may not be true. Fine, as long as it doesn't cost me money, knock yourself out.

Btw, The Gospels were not written by any one with those first hand accounts. And Jesus was long dead by the time Josephus started writing about him, as was Herod, John the Baptist, etc. It carries about as much weight as Fox Mulder writing about aliens.

Apparently anyone who feels that even mentioning that it *could* be Jesus is heretical? He cannot (and I am sure is not trying to) prove that it is *the* Jesus, just putting out there that it *could* be. Just as those screaming about it cannot prove that it couldn't be him. I never understood why people have so much trouble just admitting that where ever faith is concerned, there are always "maybes" and "possiblys". Faith is what you make of it and just because there can be alternate theories, it does not change your faith.

It goes along with the Creationism/Evolution thing. Fine, believe God created the universe, but do not demand that alternate theories not be presented as well.

Other religions can state the same about your beliefs. Your "I am right and you are wrong" stuff really is a turn off. There are no absolutes in faith. Faith just is.

Um... why is questioning wrong? Aren't you supposed to question? I thought that Jesus asked us to use our minds and figure it out for ourselves? Why would anyone get upset because others did not feel the same way as they do? Last I checked, even Christians did not all agree with one another, so why would you expect everyone else to agree on it?

I am not trying to be mean, just asking. I just don't understand why questioning would so upset people. Faith is personal and I do not understand how others questioning would do anything to your own personal faith?

BTW, I am not an atheist. lol
